Recent Review: Drop ceiling needed to be ripped out and installation of dry wall to replace it.  The floor was very, very old.  Old sinks, counter tops and cabinets needed to be removed (all very old, house was built in 1911, probably not updated since 1950s).  It went well, as did the last kitchen that Greg and his son did for me.  They are extremely conscientious and I would recommend them highly.  This is a 5-star contractor!  I cannot say enough, the job is absolutely beautiful, it is my favorite room in the house!

Recent Review: My wife and I are extremely pleased with Mark's work.  We had some bad experiences in the past so I joined Angie's list to make sure I found someone who does great work.  Mark absolutely fit the bill.  His price was fair and the quality of his work was outstanding.  He promptly returned calls and e-mails and set up a time to do an initial walk-through.  We did have to wait a couple of months for the work to be done due to a long list of pending projects, but I have learned that is a sign of a quality contractor.  We have already signed him up for another job later this Spring.  My wife summed it up best when she said the morning after he was done:  "It looks great, I really like it"!  Thanks for a great job Mark.

PTO Home Service & Repairs
Award 2018Super Service Award
Recent Review: We found PTO through Angie's List.  We contacted them and were visited by Phil, the owner, the following day.  He provided us with an estimate within a few days, and began the project within a just a few more! Phil and his assistant Deck spent substantial portions of five consecutive days in our home.  They were on time every day, which was a pleasantly foreign experience for us with any of the other general contractors with whom we have dealt over the years. Throughout the week, Phil always had the scope of both projects and timelines in mind, and always came prepared with the tools and supplies required to get each day's job done without the need to run to the store.  He and his assistant were polite, respectful, and personable, and they kept on task the whole time. Phil is a professional plumber and general contractor.  He expedites affordable proposals and executes well-defined project plans.  We will be using him for future work in our home.  You should too.

Halfmoon Handyman Services
Recent Review: Halfmoon Handyman Services   Our past experiences with ?handymen? left a lot to be desired. So this time, we decided to use Angie?s List, which came highly recommended to us.   After a pleasant and detailed search we decided to schedule an appointment with Halfmoon Handyman Services.    Owner, JD Packard, visited us.  JD arrived promptly and neatly attired.  He was both courteous and professional.  We visited the basement and explained the situation and detailed what we wanted done.  JD spent about fifteen minutes measuring, inspecting and asking questions.  Most importantly, he paid close attention to what we had to say.   Back upstairs, the three of us discussed the work and we had a rather nice conversation.  My husband and I had a very good feeling about JD.  He was knowledgeable and showed good judgment offering sound reasons and measures in approaching the job.   JD said he would send us an estimate in two days for our review.  Two days later, JD telephoned letting us know that he was sending the estimate and contract for our review by e-mail.   We reviewed the contract and estimate, (which was quite reasonable) and decided whole-heartedly to have JD do this part of our basement restoration.   We set a date for the work to begin.  On each preceding night JD called and outlined in detail exactly what work was to be done the following day, as well as his times of arrival and departure.  At the close of each workday, JD asked us to inspect with him what he and his team had accomplished always asking if we were satisfied.  My husband and I were very impressed with the quality of work and their adherence to the schedule.  In four days, the old insulation was neatly bagged and removed, new insulation was installed, the sheetrock was installed primed and painted and the basement was left clean.  JD and his team were organized, efficient, professional and very careful to not damage anything in our home in the process.   It was a terrific job.  We are so happy with the work that we want to continue with JD for the next phase of our basement restoration - a drop ceiling and lighting.  That work is scheduled to begin the last week of June.    We are happy with the way our basement is shaping up and we are making JD our permanent handyman.   In the end, we found JD:   ·      Primarily concerned with our satisfaction;   ·      Finished his work with outstanding quality of workmanship and attention to detail;    ·      Was always courteous;    ·      Worked quietly (no blasting radio, inappropriate language, etc.);    ·      Was consistently punctual on each day?s arrival/departure times;    ·      Completed all work scheduled for each day;   ·      Costs came right to the penny of his estimate.   Our relationship with Halfmoon Handyman Services has been a total success and we highly recommend him.  Lastly, we are grateful and indebted to Angie?s List for the opportunity to meet with JD.

From the start I should've recognized the warning signs. The first person who came and gave an estimate (Bill) quoted $3-$4,000. We agreed and he started the work. A week and a half in he'd only boxed out our egress window and did a little patching of the walls. We were already close to the estimated amount and had paid that. We were then told that Bill had to do some other work and another guy came to assess what needed done. He came and said he'd start the next day. Well, he never showed up and we were told he was no longer with the company. A third guy came (Tom) and he did more patching of the walls, boxed out doorways and tore out existing ceiling. He was an excellent worker. But now we have paid over $7000! When I asked Tom how much he anticipated it would cost to finish up the job he said "around the initial amount quoted." So that would mean the final amount would be upwards of about $11,000. So what we agreed on at $3-$4000 turned into at least $11,000. I fired them once I was told the final amount. What Todd Brower is doing is CRIMINAL. And to add to all of this, his workers did not put drop clothes down when doing the work and our basement floors are completely covered in white spackle/putty/plaster. DO NOT HIRE TODD JOBS unless you enjoy being ripped off, having different people do the job, have it take forever and for a mess to be left for you to clean up. I have never met a more unreliable, unprofessional contractor in all of my life.

FVision Remodeling & Flooring
PRO: His work in remodeling the bathroom looks good. CON: He gave me a price of $700 labor/$500 for a large (30 Cu Yd) dumpster for the demo job. Dumpster that was delivered was 15 CuYd. I questioned the price as it was high, he repeated the price was $500 for the 15 CU YD. Called the dumpster company - owner told me the charge was $375. I didn't say anything to Carmine about the price but he must have found out I knew. He told me he'd be finished with the demo on Monday, then Tuesday, so I (foolishly) paid him for his labor. Tuesday the job still wasn't done- he called and told me he hurt himself but he'd finish on Wednesday. He told me one floor had to be removed as it was tilted but I used a level on it and it was absolutely even. I left him a note saying to leave the floor. When I came home on Wednesday, the job wasn't done and he had taken all his tools out. I called him and he said he'd be back on Thursday or Friday to finish. He also claimed both that the dumpster was now $400 and I had to pay the dumpster owner AND that his friend had paid $500 cash and needed to be reimbursed. He told me he had taken his tools because my "attitude had changed." He never showed on either day and didn't return my Friday evening phone call. He had his phone shut off Sunday through midmorning on Tuesday when I was able to leave a message. I had also sent him emails telling him I expected him at the house on Monday to complete the job. I got a message on my machine on Tuesday- he said he wasn't coming back because I "ran hot and cold" and he "couldn't deal with me anymore." I never had one cross word with the man. BOTTOM LINE: He took 100% of his fee for 50% of the work agreed upon  and tried to pad the bill for extra cash for himself. I've also asked him to clarify some of the materials charges but so far he has failed to resond to my requests.

AGREG MUELLER
I contacted Greg for an estimate on a room remodel in my tenant apartment and we scheduled a morning for him to come to the house and discuss the project. He was on time and very knowledgeable about general construction and was confident he could complete all the aspects of my project. The tenants complained about the lack of heat in one side room which was caused by lack of insulation and poor heating system. The project included removing all floors, walls and construction debris. New heating register connected to the boiler to run the extent of the wall, all new insulation in the walls, new sheet rock, new lighting and new floors and separate door to laundry room.  He came to do the work in about mid November to have it done before the weather turned cold. He was here about a week and everything worked out great. He immediately informed me of any complications and did not cut corners. The only complication was that the ceiling had to be drop ceiling per code to access main wires. The tenants are very pleased with the new room and we haven't ran into any issues with the work that was done.
