Recent Review: The job went well from beginning to end. He treated my home as if it were his own and used the exact materials I requested. I have used House Doctors Handyman Service since it became a source of labor in the Adirondacks. Jim Leonard is consistent in good work. I have recommended his service to others in the North Country.

I didn't find a handyman, it was a waste of money. It's not really their fault, because there not putting there names on there. there was no handyman's. It seems easy to find stuff.

AGood Home Repair LLC
Leif from Good Home Repair LLC helped select a new bathroom vanity and assembled plus installed it. Replaced bathroom subfloor and vinyl. Built custom shelving in bath. Best price around. Had many compliments from visitors. Also performed handyman work throughout the home including gutter repair, deck repair and insulation. Clean, meticulous, and professional. Listened to what I wanted and made sure I was happy.

ABraband Home Services
We needed a handful of small projects completed for a newly purchased residence.  We found Brett Braband through Craigslist and found him to be courteous, professional and responsible.  Over the course of two days, he installed several kitchen appliances, hung a door, fixed a sink and secured/caulked a large kitchen counter.  Other than some minor disappointment with the cosmetic quality of the caulking, we were very satisfied with the work performed.  Full disclosure, we did not request that the caulking be re-done, but Brett probably would have re-done it if we asked him.  Brett was always responsive and showed up when he said he would show up.  We recommend him for solid handyman services at reasonable rates.

APayne's A-Z
I left for a trip for three weeks and gave Joe the key to my house (by then I trusted him enough to do so).  He said he would take a weekend, but he spread it over a couple of weekends.  The work took longer than anticipated. On my return I asked for him to install a strip of marble between the kitchen floor and the living room.  I paid extra for the strip (which he ordered).  Unfortunately we misunderstood each other on where the strip should go; he stuck it to the wood floor in the living room while I had expected he would remove a strip of the kitchen tile so the marble would not invade the living floor.  He said that could not be done, so we ended on agreeing on removing the marble strip after all.  He cleaned up and all was well.  This ended up costing me $75. As the job was really nicely done, and his total price came under the total of another contractor I had previously worked with, I ended up paying him a little extra. The total cost of the kitchen floor was $1850, broken down as: $600 for tile, $450 to Joe Payne for materials, $650 to Joe and his team for labor, and $150 for marble strip and tip.  Joe had originally asked for $450 for materials and $500 for labor, excluding the tiles. When I returned home I found I had no running water to the washer or gas to the stove.  All I had to do was find the taps he had turned off.  This was the single oversight I noticed. I like the fact that Joe takes pride in his work. Thanks Joe for the great job!

AJohn Hillis Handyman
He is a superb farm carpenter. He understands old farm buildings and how to create farm buildings out of them. He understands livestock and fencing. He has done work for me for seven years. I recommend him 100%. He is honest and he doesn't jack up his prices for city people. His price is by the hour and he backs up his work. He is great with barns.

FMR. FUSSY - HandyMan
Started out very impressed with Mr. Fussy's business. He came out exactly when he said he would, provided a written quote with a specific date that the work would be done by, and did some more research to answer my questions. The problems started when the work was complete and he asked for payment. I paid in full, in cash at the time he requested it. Then I checked the work (my mistake here - he had good reviews) - The quote and work order stated that he would replace four panels of screening on the porch. Only three were done. I e-mailed him and asked about it and he said that four were done. I walked the porch again and asked again. He came over on a Sunday and checked the work. He was upset because his employee or sub-contractor only did three panels. He said that the guy would be back to complete the work. There was no charge to have him come back. Guy came back, did a half a panel. Last week, I went out on the porch and the furring strips were only attached by two or three airgun nails - they were pulling away from the support beam. Mind, this is less than a month since they were installed. I e-mailed Mr. Fussy's business address with pictures and got no response. A couple days later, I notice that on the back of the porch the furring strip is FALLING OFF. This is still less than a month since it was installed. I e-mailed Mr. Fussy's business address again. No response. The e-mails were polite and professional, I waited a full week before posting reviews. There was no away message or business closed notification e-mail. I climb up on a ladder (multiple health and balance issues) and hammer some finish nails into the furring strips as best I can. The furring strip in the picture fell off before I could get to it. I am not a professional repair person, I paid someone to do a professional job and not only did they not do a professional job, they set up the job to fail the same way the original screens did (too few fasteners). Also, there was no discount from the quote given despite the fact that they were not able to install a chimney cap as my chimney is an unusual size. Due to the failure of the furring strips (i found more that were ready to fall off next) and the odd appearance of the chimney, I have lost confidence that the chimney was repointed properly. Unfortunately I do not have the money to hire another handyman. I am also extremely grateful that I was unable to afford to have the 'big' project that he quoted done this year as I am going back to school...because if that had been done as badly as the porch was, I would have been devastated. You may contact me for pictures and copies of the e-mails that I sent him as well as dates and times.

It was a lot of money; like $300 a day. He was very professional and came on time. He knows what he is doing when he does contractor work and I would use him again if I had nobody else to come to my house because he is far away from me. I was happy with the work.
