Recent Review: The home inspection for the house that my son is under contract on turned up a number of cracks in the foundation. He wanted to get a structural engineer out to determine whether they were serious problems or easy repairs. Martin was able to make an appointment to come look at it within a few days, and very professionally assessed the nature of the cracks and the cost of repair. He also offers to write up an official report that can be used in negotiations with the seller for an additional fee, but because the problems were ultimately not major, my son will probably not have to use that service. Overall - my son reports that he was very professional, knew what he was doing, and would definitely use him again if necessary.

Recent Review: I was very pleased with AFM Inspections & Engineering, particularly Mr. Anthony Marmo's service.  I was concerned about the foundation and basement walls of my home, and after conducting an inquiry for structural engineers, within minutes I received a call on a Sunday afternoon from Mr. Marmo.  Due to my busy schedule, he responded promptly within the hour and conducted an inspection of the foundation and basement of my home.  During the inspection, Mr. Marmo explained the problems that I was having with my basement walls, how it occurred, and provided me with the knowledge of how the repairs should be done by a contractor.  Within a few days Mr. Marmo provided me with a detailed written report, which included photo's and a narrative of his findings.  He also provided recommendations of how the repairs should be correctly performed.    My overall experience with AFM Inspections & Engineering was excellent.

Reviews in Roslyn for Installing Retaining Walls

Emailed them today to discuss a retaining wall project. They are very quick to respond and telling me they charge $370 to meet with me to discuss the project. No thanks. I still live in the world that structural engineers are engineers and not doctors. Ripoff-dnt even bother considering.

Luis came out on a days notice to come review the structural integrity of an exiting retaining wall on a property i was purchasing. He was very knowledgeable about retaining walls systems and cause of failure. He provided a full report that very evening, which was very appreciated! The report was detailed and provided pictures and an estimated repair cost. The inspection and report was $500. I have not basis for comparison for a structural engineer review which is why i gave the company a "B" rating for cost. I was told by a friend that $500 was a good price to have a structural review, but like i said, i still have nothing to compare it to. I believe it is a good and competitive cost for the inspection.

FAFM Inspections & Engineering, PLLC
Before we discussed any work he advised me it would be quite a bit more money because I lived so far. His office is in Floral Park and I am in St. James. I figure about $3.00 in gas and about 30 minutes driving time.

Working with Rima Taher was the best experience. She came, she went through everything, and she found what the issue was. Her diagnosis was since confirmed by professional construction builders. I couldn't have been happier and have been telling everyone I know about her.

I had to get someone to do structural inspection quickly and Luis seemed to be the only person available. All others were busy, taking vacation, or not responsive. Price was more expensive than what others offered but my area was Sussex county and I needed an engineer asap. Report turnaround was the next day (wow!). There were some follow up questions I asked Luis but I felt he was being too professional in answering them, I guess that can be a good thing for them, but not for me. I was just looking for basic opinions on the shape of the house but Luis was for some reason representing these questions as some kind of warranty. I'm not sure if this is the norm for structural engineers, but whatever. Anyways, Luis was great, I wish the price was cheaper for what I got but I guess the urgency of the inspection made up for it.

They did a fine job. I thought he was too analytical. He was good at being a structural engineer though.

Elizabeth at the office scheduled George to come out for the inspection. Both were very professional. Received a call from George when he was running a tiny 10 minutes behind. Very courteous. The advice on the fix was just what I needed and the letter to the potential buyer regarding the house settling and the structural integrity being intact helped me sell the house

ALRP Engineering
I called LRP Engineering (Luis) in early September as I noticed a crack in my brick siding. I felt comfortable with him as he explained his work and costs. I've called several other engineers and firms. And although LRP was a little bit higher than the other two I talked to, I felt the most comfortable with him after reading reviews and speaking to him on the phone. We had set up an appointment for a few days after. And he was prompt and punctual. He came with his assistant (his son). They both were very thorough in taking pictures, taking notes, measurements, etc. They both took their time with the assessment. He answered all my questions as I am the type of person that likes to ask a lot of questions. After everything they needed, we sat down together and went over his assessment and gave me several recommendations even to the point of drawing diagrams and views of the issue and the solutions. After a few days, he sent me his report which was thorough and complete with pictures. I will definitely use him in the future before purchasing my next home as it seems like he had a keen eye, thorough, spent time with me in answering my questions and going through this assessment/solutions, and seemed like he knew a lot about structural issues and recommendations to remedy them. I kind of wish I had used him before purchasing my current home. Maybe I wouldn't have to go through the work that I need to do now.
