ANEIGHBORHOOD HOME REPAIR
He showed up right on time and got right to work. All seemed to go well.  It took him just about 3 hours to complete the project.   He was very flexible with the schedule as I had to change the time once or twice and he called to confirm the appointment the day before.  When he was done he showed me how to change the window to a screen and encouraged me to try the door a few times.  Very patient and friendly.  He didn't know he was going to be rated--he just happened to ask me at the end of the job how I got his name and I told him I got it from Angie's list. This experience turned out well.

The repair was actually completed before I got the contract in the mail! The work crew noticed a loose board on a 3rd floor window and repaired THAT ‘just because.’ Cleanup was thorough and we are snug and dry.

We had a wind storm tear the siding 1/2 off the garage on Saturday night.  I called their field manager on Sunday.  He was there on Monday.  The job (replacing the siding,) was done by Wednesday.  You cant ask for better customer service than that!

Every thing went smoothly. There was an issue with the ceiling tile glue not holding, but Jim was prompt in addressing the issue and fixing the problem (which really was no one's 'fault'). The skylight is not leaking and all the work was done professionally and courteously. The company was on the high end of the estimates we received, but then you tend to get what you pay for: It was definitely worth it to have it done properly. Additionally, the company stands by their work and fixes all issues if any arise. We would use them again and recommend the company to others. I 'liked' the company on Facebook, which is not something I normally do for ANY company, but; they are a local and independent small business who do quality work. Moreover, Jim takes the time to develop a relationship with his customers: Something unheard of in the world of mega-corporations and box-store chains.

Rob is a nice guy. He's the kind of guy who feels like a friend and I trusted him with my property, gift cards for purchases, and to do a quality job at a fair price. I choose Rob based on his Angie's list referrals and the fact that he was the only contractor who responded and followed up to my query. The tough part about working with Rob is that he is a solo operation (most of the time) so we had to wait several months for him to be available for the job. Fortunately our timeline was flexible so it worked out for us. He did a nice job by calling each month to let us know the status of his other projects and when we might expect to get started. When he started he actually had to take a few days off because he came down with a cold, but again he had good communication skills to let us know when he could resume. This is the challenge of hiring an owner/operator. He did a nice job in retiling our main bathroom. The house had its original tiles on the floor and walls from the 1960's which he had to dig up, smooth out the base, and lay down new tiles. He also installed a new bathroom vanity, 2 mirrors, new light fixture, & towel racks as well as painted the walls and ceiling. He did break the top on our toilet when he moved it out, but he was diligent in getting a replacement part to fix it. He was very good about keeping the worksite in good condition and minimizing the impact it had on other parts of our house. He disposed of garbage, and his fee was much more reasonable than for is to pay our trash service. He then proceeded to do our 2nd bathroom in the basement which was a total redo. This first included ripping up carpeting and removing all items. He put in tiles on floor and around shower, built a shower, installed toilet, vanity, mirror, fan/light, ceiling tiles. He did both bathrooms in 2 months as well as a few other projects including fixing a hole in the ceiling of our kitchen. And Turing in a new storm door. We went over budget which I wasn't as happy about but that was mostly because my husband and I wanted some more expensive items than we initially planned. But the result is we now have 2 beautiful bathrooms the way we wanted and we can enjoy using. Working with Rob is easy. We setup payment plans to spread the payments out over the schedule of the project. His rates are fair and he only bills you for his working time. The projects took lots of time and used skills we didn't have. Rob did so much and was always upfront and honest. I will definitely call Rob for future work.

Responsive, honest, and a good problem-solver. There were a few options on how to best fix certain issues and Rob explained them well so that I could make a decision that met my needs and my budget.

I contracted with Tim for some minor repairs. Tim was punctual and responsive throughout the estimate process. Before work was scheduled to start, my house along with my entire town and much of the region was indundated by the Tropical Storm Lee flooding disaster, and I had to gut my entire first floor. Tim worked with me to survey the damage, prepare an estimate for new repairs, work out financing and reschedule a complete remodeling. This was obviously a very stressful process in the post-flood chaos and did not go as smoothly on either of our ends as I believe it would have under more normal circumstances. After initial delays, work was performed as promised. Tim's crew worked hard and communications were good during a time when many contractors have been impossible to reach and uninterested in dealing with a small old house.

They came out and installed a new roof, siding, windows and trim. They did not wrap the house like they were supposed to first. They wrapped spots. They did shotty work. They did not get it done when I wanted it done. They've been jerking me around since last spring. They never finished the front porch and then they told me it wasn't included in the job. They did the underside and part of a porch and not the whole porch. It took them until a month ago to get the last storm door out here. It has just been bad right from the beginning and all the way through.

After Jim Randall, my husband and I discussed everything that we needed done, the work began almost immediately. Shawn arrived early and began working on our roof. Knowing the problem we had with leaking when it rained Shawn worked through terrible windy conditions to get enough of the roof done before the rain storm. How nice to cook in my kitchen that day without getting wet. Shawn arrived again early the next day to finish the roof for us. What a great job. Ryan arrived to remove the kitchen ceiling and plug the hole the skylight left. He also got the electricity working in the kitchen that had stopped working due to corrosion. Once the ceiling had been completed Ryan textured the ceiling. He then installed our new fluorescent lights. He came on the last day to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Everything this company did was professional and detail orientated. The work was done precisely to what we wanted. Awesome job. I will recommend this company to everyone needing any kind of work done.

Recent Review: Harry was recommended to me by a neighbor for whom he enclosed and insulated a garage into an office space. He is reasonable in his prices. The job he did painting three rooms in my house was meticulous. He has a sure hand and cleans everything up. It was a pleasure to have him do the painting, since the rooms came out perfectly. So did the screen replacements on my porch for that matter. He's careful with everything he touches. He's also assembled a gas grill and replaced the closer on a storm door, which I forgot to mention when I listed all the catagories he works on. He's a Methodist and a church goer. A family man. It's not like you can't go off and leave him in your house either, because you can. Hope this helps to let you know how good he is at various and assorted tasks. He's volunteered to stop in and change light bulbs or take a minute to do what's needed. So helpful.

Recent Review: Before he started the bathroom job, he kept telling me he didn't like epoxy grout.  I finally asked him if he wanted to do it or not, because I could get tile men from the tile store who have worked for me before and done good jobs.  He said he could do it; he just didn't like it.  When the shower was done, I had to take a scraper and scrape the face of each tile because, though you could only see a couple places where grout residue was left, if you ran your hand over the tiles, they were rough to the touch.  He was very accommodating at the beginning and during the early jobs.  However, I found that his mood deteroirated on the big job and his sarcasm increased.  I think his surliness was caused by the fact that the job took longer than he anticipated.  He rarely put in a full day here, going to other jobs "because he couldn't start anything else here".  On some days that was true but on other days, I thought he could have done something else to keep the job moving. In summary, he did a good job on the small jobs that only took a few hours.  The tiles were placed and cut well but the finishing work was not good.  I think corners were cut to make up the time.  Through the years I've had jobs done in two different houses and never have I had messy workers till this job.  I had to touch up walls after floors were laid and again after other work was done.  He didn't like the way I painted the bathroom so he touched it up and put paint on the ceiling edge, which I went over.  My work may have been a tad short of the wall edge but it looked better than having paint on the ceiling.  There are marks on the stairs where I cleaned grout off the carpet and it didn't all come off.  It's the same carpet that has the hole I made by not having the lid on tightly. The amount spent, above, is the approximate labor quote for all the jobs he did here. ----------- It's 11/10 and I'm still scraping the slate from my August job, trying to get the grout off.  I am not exaggerating when I say that some of the tiles I've gone over as many as 8 times, getting a little off each time.  I've used a metal scraper, diluted muriatic acid and just now tried a wire brush.  NEVER let this man work in your house.  Before the big job, I recommended him to a friend and he installed a counter badly and she will never use him again. It's now 3/2014 and I just got an estimate to tear up the shower and floor so that I can get rid of the shoddy work done by this contractor.  I'll be set back $6900 but I won't keep finding other mistakes and will have a quality job when it's done.  It sickens me to have to spend it but I cannot stand to use the bathroom since all I see are the mistakes and careless work.  The comment I made above about the tiles being placed well is not true; it's one of the discoveries I made in the intervening time.  He didn't even install the threshold correctly, making the tile job more difficult.  It should have been centered within the door jamb, not sticking into the bathroom.  On the ceiling of the shampoo nook, there's a big glob of grout that wasn't wiped off.  There was grout left on the inside of the shower curb so that it always looks dirty.  The drain plate is sticking up and there's a depression around it where the water won't drain out because he didn't know how to install river stone tile.  The bench tiles were cut and placed wrong, leaving at least a 3/8" gap between the seat and wall that is badly grouted.  About half the epoxy grout was wiped off, leaving just mortar.  So the grout lines are two different colors.  Transparent caulk was not used on the shower door installation and there was a gap left, allowing water to leak out.  At the end of a grout run on the outside, he didn't bother to wipe off a "rooster tail" glob of grout and that's now frozen in time.  The new tile man said that, "He wasn't much for finish work, was he?".  He wasn't much for any kind of detail work at all, start, finish or in between.  So, I will have this mess torn out and after I spend over $6200 will have a truly beautiful bathroom.  Do NOT let him near your home for anything!  With luck, this will be done before summer arrives.  I can't wait to get the nightmare over, even if it means spending more money.  It will be worth the peace of mind.
