Recent Review: John's company was recommended by the Cornell cooperative extension and was very helpful. I felt John had our best interest in mind and did not try to sell us more than we needed. They blew insulation into some of the walls and the attics of the house and put new weather stripping on the doors. The house seems less drafty and the furnace does not seem to come on as often, but it is too soon to know if we are using less oil.

Recent Review: Ado was on time and worked the 4 hours that we purchased from Angie's list. He removed his shoes without being asked and cleaned up after himself. He was very pleasant and considerate. We would gladly hire him again.

Recent Review: We originally called Tom to fix some damage to our storm door that occurred during a wind storm, replace the weather stripping on the door, and fix a leaking sink handle and a leaking sink drain, and to give an estimate for installing soffit on the eves of our garage.  The interior work was completed quickly and was of high quality, and he only charged $55.  He gave me an estimate of $200 plus materials to complete the garage work and offered to complete it the same day, despite the cold weather, so I had him do that repair immediately.  From start to finish, including getting supplies, the work took about 4 hours.    Tom responded to my original call very quickly - he returned my message the same day.  It took a few weeks for him to find an opening in his schedule for us, but he was worth the wait.  He arrived promptly when he promised to, and called the day before to confirm the appointment.  Over all very professional, high quality work.  We've discussed having him return to complete some weather dependent work this spring.

CComfort Windows
We contacted Comfort Windows to make our home more energy efficient as they were recommended by NYSERDA.  The hiring process went smoothly.  The local sales rep came to the house and walked us through the process.  They then sent someone to evaluate our situation and make recommendations.  They then presented us with their proposal and everything was to our satisfaction.  Once we entered into a contract for services with them that ball was dropped.  We were told work would be done in the summer months, when I would be home to oversee them. This did not happen.  Apparently our rep left the company that July and the ball was dropped again.  I had to call many time and was finally put on the schedule for September.  Work was completed when I was not around and not to my satisfaction.   They could not insulate areas of the house because they waited too long and we had already received our pellets for the upcoming winter.  We were expecting rectangular aluminum soffits equally spaced under our roof line and they installed circular ones that are not equally spaced out.  They did insulate the attics well, and the bathroom fan was installed to our satisfaction as well.  The piece of ceiling they installed was cut but just set in there and has since fallen out.   We have had to contact them several times after the installation to come back and correct things and some issues still exist.  I plan to contact them again once the weather warms up so all out heat is not escaping outside. In Summary:  Comfort was great at getting the sale, but the work performed was fair at best.  This was not necessarily the installers fault as they were not given good directions from their supervisors.

Larry did an excellent job. He came when he said he would and he worked on each project until it was completed. He provided an estimate of what it would cost and stuck to it despite running into some unanticipated problems.

.Initially he seemed to be a nice guy doing a good job. On close inspection - everything was forced, rigged and done incorrectly. Please note that his price was reasonable at first - but not really because it will ALL have to be redone.
