New Woodstock Hardwood Floor Installation

This contractor gave me a price of $2950 to install, sand and stain 300 square feet of hardwood flooring and refinish 500 square feet of hardwood flooring.  He asking for a deposit of $1450, which I gave him.  On the first day of the job, he asked for another $500 because, as he said, a piece of his equipment broke and he needed to buy another one, so I stupidly gave it to him.  He installed most of the new hardwood, then told me he needed another $120 to buy more wood, which I again gave to him, so now he has a total of $2070 of my money and has only installed 300 square feet of new hardwood.  He bought more wood, then came back to the job and finished the install except for the stair landing.  He had not done any of the sanding or refinishing that was agreed upon. I estimate the cost to buy and install the 300 square feet of hardwood to be around $1200.  I got back to the house in the afternoon, and he had packed up his equipment and left.  Apparently, there was a roofer working on my roof who he didn't get along with and didn't feel like he could stay on the same property with him and do his job!  I could not believe that he left me with half of the job done because he didn't like my roofer!  I called him several times to ask him to come back to finish the job, and he never returned my phone calls.  I made a complaint to the local police department who contacted him.  He lied to them and said he'd done the work he was supposed to do, and he didn't come back because I didn't pay him what I said I would.  Mind you, he already had $2070 of my money and had only completed about one third of the job.  I estimate I was scammed out of about $870 by this dishonest person. Apparently, there are some contractors out of the Canastota/Wampsville area that have scammed people in that area, and now everyone knows about them, so they are moving their way west towards the Syracuse area. I contracted with CNY Hardwood flooring who informed me they are often called in to fix other contractors bad work.  John Loveless did a lot of sloppy work on the install, cutting a lot of corners.  I am a single woman and do feel he took advantage of the fact that I don't know everything there is to know about installing hardwood.   CNY finished the job and the floors look great! I think it is the height of immaturity and irresponsibility to walk off a job.  John Loveless is disreputable, dishonest, and if you are smart, you will stay far away from him.  I'm sure he will dispute my version of the story, but he is not to be believed.

They followed through, didn't make a mess, and they completed the project according to what they had promised us in the beginning.

Marty is very professional and accommodating to our needs. Floors turned out beautiful. Could not be happier with the job. He is a contractor who calls and arrives when he says he will. You will not be disappointed if you were to hire him. Marty and his team were very hardworking and got the job done when they said it would be done. Excellent job, excellent professional company. Would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Coir floors was available to visit our home in the evening and provide an estimate on the spot.  Ben Coir explained in detail what they would do to refinish our floors and what to expect during the process during and after.  They were able to work with our schedule to accomplish the work.  Ben was available during install and stated multiple times he is available after if we have any questions.  The floors are smooth and beautiful.  The new floors match the old floors perfectly and there is barely any dust left behind.

Marty and his team did an excellent job installing hardwood floors for us. (Marty really does do the estimate and conduct the work). They removed the previous tile and carpet and installed shoe molding. The transitions involved custom milling and finishing(which turned out beautiful). On time for appointments and work. Worked conducted in timely fashion with cleanup and great care for the rest of the house and finish. Material delivered to residence with proper acclimation time. We are very pleased with this project and will use NYB for future projects.

The floor looks great! Problems with the subfloor were discovered after they removed the carpet. They helped us find a contractor to replace parts of the subfloor and then did their installation. Very professional. Careful workers and great clean-up.

Link DeRycke installed hardwood floors in our remodeled kitchen and small landing. He did a wonderful job, the floors look great and the stain is a perfect color to match the new maple cabinets and the surrounding dining room and hallway. He was very professional and efficient. There are 3 coats of poly so the floors are protected. We are very pleased with the results.

I called this company to provide an estimate to install hardwood flooring throughout my house (approximately 2000 sf). I called in the middle of the day and received an answering machine (not a bad thing), I left all of the details of the job along with my cell phone number. As of this date I have never heard from anyone. I guess they have enough work that they did not want my business, if that was the case a courtesy phone call would have been nice.

Great; from the start Marty was great to work with. We tasked him with replacing carpet with hardwood flooring and blending the hardwood flooring into existing 10 year old floors. Marty did the job is two stages per our request - he installed unfinished hardwood floors and then came back to stain and finish the hardwood floors after other contractors were complete with the project. His work is very clean and the floors are perfectly blended. Best of all was the fact that he was punctual and very responsive. I would definitely hire Marty again.

Very pleased with the installation, product and professionalism and price. Max is a pro. He knows his business, advised us and didn't try to sell us products we couldn't use. Will use again when we finish up the house.
