Recent Review: My experience with G&G has been excellent. I work from home, so we were able to review and solve problems as we went - as I mentioned above the house is very old, and very quirky. Guy's native language is French so there were occasional minor misunderstandings. On a previous job (exterior painting) we had a written contract, but on the basis of that job we worked on a time and materials basis, verbally rather than written, aside from informal to - do lists. If there is one thing I would suggest it is to tell Guy t o take his time with windows - he is of the paint quickly now and clean with a blade later school, which is not my favorite, but got the job done. Guys ability to paint, repair, and do plumbing meant that we were able to take care of things like replacing leaky faucets and an old commode without having to call anyone else in. Guy LeBrun's  partner, Guy Jolicouer, does HVAC, and helped out on occasion, but there was no HVAC specific work involved. If you are looking for a workman like approach, solid solutions, and a good job at an excellent value then G&G is  for you. If you are looking for a name on a truck, polished appearance, and high end flourishes, then not so much. Both Guys are honest, hardworking and really care about coming up with the right solution.

Recent Review: Paul is great - they did a wonderful job painting the master bedroom and guest bedroom in a very old house with plaster walls that needed a lot of TLC.  They did a ton of prep work on the walls, and really paid attention to all the small details.  They fixed the trim in a few spots where there were gaps around the door and really made the rooms look beautiful and like new.  Paul is easy-going, shows up exactly on time every time we've met and is a real pleasure to work with.  I will be using them for the rest of the painting in my house.

Recent Review: As these were upper floor rooms we were worried this may have been a more serious problem such as water damage from the roof or something similar. Martin quickly reassured us that upon inspection the cracks were due to stress (settling) and that the repair work was more cosmetic and not costly infrastructure repairs. He explained it would be a 2-3 visit process that would entail cleaning around the crack, replacing mesh tape, applying a mud compound, and then painting the impacted areas. Martin was extremely professional and really accommodated our busy work schedule by coming in during the early evening hours and finishing up on a Saturday morning. Without even charging extra for what some may of considered after normal business hours. His estimate was very fair and the price only ended up being $30 extra due to additional paint materials needed. The price difference for the quality of work was well worth it because the repainting matched the existing colors and ceilings texture perfectly.  You can't tell the difference in what was repaired and what was not.  He is now the first number in our contact list should we need future repairs to our home.

Recent Review: We are exceptionally pleased with the work Mark and his crew and subcontractors have done in our home.  Initially, we asked Mark to estimate the cost of repairs to our bathroom floor due to water damage.  He was upfront about the possibility of further damage below the tub, but wouldn't know the extent until he opened it up.  Thankfully, the damage wasn't as extensive as feared, but still required Mark to remove molded/wet sub-flooring, and sheet-rock, and replace them.  He and Allen did a great job; did it quickly (this room held our only shower), and kept it within projected budget.  (Mark also advised us to replace the damaged sheet-rock with PVC to avoid rotting in the event of future water damage. As a result of this experience, we asked Mark to estimate the renovation of two bedrooms.  (It should be noted that the house was built in 1942, so they were dealing with plaster walls & ceilings).  Mark and his crew smoothed walls/filled cracks/holes (having to remove some of the warped areas and replace); covered "popcorn" ceilings with sheet-rock; installed/relocated new light fixtures; relocated a radiator in one room; built out and added lighting to an existing closet/added doors; added electrical sockets; painted and added crown molding.  This project also involved the replacement, sanding and finishing of part of one of the hardwood floors.  We decided we would also have our hallway and stairs sanded and refinished as well. Mark and crew also replaced our storm door, and before doing so, he told me that the door I had chosen was not a quality one upon inspection at Home Depot.  Mark suggested using the same door he had installed in his home instead, but upon showing it to me, if I preferred the one I had chosen, he would install that door.  The door Mark chose was solid and of excellent quality and we love it!   Needless to say, my daughters are ecstatic with their "new" rooms!!  Mark and his crew were awesome about accommodating our needs while keeping the project on time.  Every afternoon when they were done, everything was left in order and vacuumed, etc., for our use.  Any sawing of wood that was done outside was cleaned up completely each day.  Mark was great about making suggestions such as crown molding to hide the uneven way the plaster walls meet the ceiling; and building out my daughter's existing closet a few feet to make it functional AND not compromise the size of the room.  He suggested moving the radiator down slightly to accommodate the new closet dimensions and address the problem with the adjusting knob.  (The adjusting knob of the radiator had been accidentally "walled in" within the original closet by a previous contractor!) Overall, Mark was prompt, professional, courteous, innovative and budget-conscious!  It is refreshing to have someone who returns your calls/emails/texts promptly and does what he says he will do!  There is no doubt that we will be using Tongue & Groove Carpentry for future projects!!

Reviews in Morrisonville to Repair Plaster

DPOULIN DRYWALL
The contractor who did our master bedroom suite renovation subcontracted to Poulin Drywall. $2000 is an estimate. The reasons that the overall score is a D: Everyday a different person showed up. Some were better than others. The tape was showing and corners were not straight and smooth. We can feel the ridges all over the joints and corners. We had to re-plaster many bubble holes. Our contractor asked them to come back after we complained. Someone came twice and tried to fix the defects. Some improvements were made, but there were still many places unfixed. We asked again for repairs, but they refused. The final finish person didn't do any cleaning and left a huge mess. We had to spend a tremendous amount of time making the walls and corners look acceptable.

We couldn't be more pleased: quality work, excellent communications and expert recommendations for difficult jobs. The pocket door 'challenge' was a tough one: we'd been through it before (we have two bedroom bathrooms w/ pocket doors -- great for saving space, but the hanging door tracks wore out after years of use) -- and we spent weeks trying to fix the master BR's matching problem and living with an open bathroom and walls torn up. This second bathroom posed an even bigger problem: shared bathroom for teenage daughter and son....and guests (with a dozen arriving soon....). Jess efficiently checked out all possibilities for repairing the door without removing wallboard and once we all concluded we'd have to replace the tracking in the wall, he then found a better quality solution for the future. The job took multiple visits (plaster drying, etc.) and each time he communicated well and cleaned up. The wallboard and plastering work is first-rate. We also had Jess replace the water-damaged wood siding, fascias and eaves and one deck board while our house was (finally!) getting a new exterior paint job this summer. We'd waited too long -- gutters were broken and leaking and just about every type of wood structure on the house had been damaged. Jess brought a partner and they did an awesome job of replacing everything within the painter's schedule. Jess is now listed in our and quot;home servicesand quot; refrigerator and quot;key phone numbersand quot; listing as our handyman and carpenter. We will gladly hire him again. Highly recommended! :-)

It went smoothly and without problems. Timing was a little off, but not a bother to us (partly our fault due to the last minute plumbing upgrade). Ben is very approachable and was open to all suggestions from us, whether or not they were needed. The tiles I had put in the bathroom are Mexican Talavera tiles, which are somewhat difficult to work with since there is considerable variation in size from tile to tile and thus, major potential for screw-ups (i.e. wavy lines, really wide grout lines, etc.). Ben did a great job, took his time and the result is fantastic. He was never wasteful of the tile and was always respectful of my concerns.
