I would stay away from this company as it appears they still use some of the horrific tactics I experienced many years ago. First, I am making this review long after i had this service. I am looking into having home security again ,and when looking through Angie's list, I came across several monitronics reviews that mirrored my negative experiences. My system was installed and after a few months, it had 4 false alarms in the middle of the night. over 3 nights I called the customer service number every time. The 4th time, they told me to pull it out of the wall to disconnect it. I did. When the year was up, and I thought the contract was up, I called to cancel the service. And Found out: 1) it was a 3 year contract . I had not known that , I thought it was for 1 year, and truly feel that this was not made clear or even mentioned ,originally . 2) they said I should not have disconnected the monitor; ..the person I was speaking to insisted that I should have called them...but I had called the CS # listed on my paperwork,,!!!!,, apparently, there were 2 or 3 separate businesses involved in running this company, and none knew what the others were doing 3) this applies to the payments /financial matters of the company as well. I had paid a full year in advance, but the local company had no record of this. Not only did the local reps treat me disrespect, disbelief and use accusatory and abusive language, they actually called me 8 times in a row on one evening, up to as late as 10 PM. They were demanding immediate payment , and actually yelling at me, saying that I had not paid them The parent company did have record of my payment, (but it was not easy to reach them) !!! but they were just not able to communicate this with the local reps for some reason. I had 2 weeks of harassing, unprofessional phone calls based on totally incorrect information. One agent actually threatened to come to my home to collect what they thought i owed them I am not making this up. I resorted to saying I would call the police. I had to get copies of my bank records and send them a photocopy of the check they had cashed /deposited a year prior, a check which paid in advance for a full year of monitoring . At that point, they cancelled my service but i never received any apology or validation from any one in any of those interconnected companies. I did not receive a refund for the 7-8 months that the device was disconnected, at their suggestion. However, I didn't ask for a refund, I asked only for an apology............ Never got one.
