Recent Review: we started negotiatig with Dave in April. He got back to us a few times, provided an estimate that was not complete. arranged at least two meeting where he never showed up, never called, etc. by the time we realized how unreliable he was, we'd wasted the whole summer construction season. now we have to wait until next year to do the project.
Recent Review: Mike is finishing our bathroom remodeling as I write this (October 7, 2016). He remodeled our kitchen in 2014 and did a marvelous job with subway tiles. He is detail oriented, his tile work is very precise and the outcome is beautiful. We have an arts & crafts cottage that has unique features and Mike was able to work around the tight spaces to make the best fit for counters and appliances. He studied carefully the architect's design and made some suggestions that were appropriate. We were so happy with his workmanship that we did not give a second thought to re-hiring him to remodel our bathroom. He continues to impress us with his careful tiling. We have a slanted shower space and he has gone above and beyond to make this bathroom be functional and aesthetically pleasing. Mike meets every challenge with new possibilities and because of his expertise makes win-win recommendations. For example, we had extra tiles and he suggested using the extra tile for a back splash and also around the shower door. Mike is professional, listens to what you need, and even when we deviated from the main job to ask if he could do other small things for us, he was able to make suggestions and do the small jobs as long as he stayed on schedule with the main job which we truly appreciate. There is no doubt we will hire him again.

Bathroom was already demolished down to the studs before contractor was hired. Mike closed up an existing doorway into an adjacent bathroom at our request and installed new sheetrock on walls and ceiling. He ran electrical for a new outlet (the bathroom previously had no power outlets), installed new ceiling light and fan (and installed vent to outside which the bathroom previously did not have) and installed lighting over the sink. Adjusted plumbing to accommodate a standard shower instead of a tub/shower combo (tub already been pulled out), installed shower pan and built custom bench for the shower, tiled shower as well as floor outside shower, installed toilet, new sink/vanity, and medicine cabinet built into the wall above the sink. Painted the walls, cut and installed wood baseboard, reinstalled the main door to the bathroom which had been removed during demolition. Mike did all of the work we asked for and was very accommodating . The work took a bit longer than originally projected due to an unexpected medical-related delay that the contractor could not have foreseen or prevented. As far as we are concerned, the quality of the work more than made up for any delays. Aside from the work on the bathroom, Mike was also very helpful in recommending other specialist contractors for other renovation projects that we were considering.

I gave him $5,000 July 20th thinking he was going to start, but he didn't start until mid-September. He keeps pushing back the expected finish date. All he has done is ripped out the tile. He is taking advantage of me because I am from out of town. I would not recommend him to anyone.
