Recent Review: They arrived on time to give a quote for the flood lights and kitchen fan. After that quote was received I decided to also add the bathroom fan. They were prompt in redoing the quote and emailing it to me. The proposal did not include some specifics I had discussed with them regarding light color, adjusting side light, and the senior discount. I added these things to the proposal and emailed it back to them for their approval. When the electrician arrived to do the work, the kitchen fan was not included in the parts he had picked up the day before. He called the owner to verify that it was to be included and they dropped off the fan. They are great people to work with and I was happy with the completed work.

Recent Review: It went amazingly! There were some issues that arose during the process that were strictly having to do with how old our house is, and Brian and his crew reacted to them swiftly and with great care. He also made a point of accommodating us around a busy time in his year, right before he was going on vacation, because I was pregnant and due any day, and needed these updates ASAP.

Recent Review: They showed up on time and were very professional and courteous. The work was done on schedule and they cleaned up after themselves. After the job was completed we realized that they had forgotten to add a heat vent in the basement, also the air flow to one of the upstairs rooms was too low. We contacted them and they came out the next day and took care of both issues.

Recent Review: Installed new cold air return and heat vent downstairs. Great job looks great! Came recommended by our realtor. Very responsive and good work. Used furnace last week on some cool nights-worked great! Other Heating company recommended 70k furnace but Ernie said with our space and future addition he would recommend a 90K furnace. His 90K furnace was $500 less than the other guys 70K furnace! Awesome job!

Recent Review: Excellent service from initial phone call to installation. They were on time, professional and cleaned up after themselves. It was snowing and they had to shovel to reach the a/c unit. The new furnace is fantastic and am very pleased with the service and professionalism of Charles Heating, Plumbing and Electrical. I highly recommend them.

Recent Review: Both men were extremely courteous at all times. They put down work mats from the garage entry to the basement entry. Each day, they cleaned up what they had removed, etc so didn't know any work actually going on. Whenever I had questions, which I did, they always answered me and explained why they were doing what they were doing. For example, when I asked about the venting to the outside from the new furnace, they explained in terms that I quickly understood and suggested that I look at the venting pipes outside, which I did. Both Lenny and Scott were friendly at all times, which made the 3 day job go by quickly. When I was asked about the opening in the back of flue(think that is right term) that faced the opening into the crawl space under familyroom, I didn't want it left open and they made sure it was closed off. They marked, with permanent marker, each and every duct so that I would know, as well as a future owner of our house, to what room each duct went. I was instructed how to control the vents by turning levers. When Scott was finishing the duct labeling, I realized that we hadn't found the duct to our 2nd floor main bathroom. Both men and I started searching and found it on an inside wall, adjacent to the stairways. Lenny and Scott found that there was a nail through the duct, which they fixed, and that the duct wasn't properly attached- they fixed this quickly. Lenny suggested that I put some insulation around the perimeter of our basement game room and I now have done that. They offered to go get the 3 ceiling heating vents in the basement but I told them that I would do it and I have, making it easier to control basement heat. When they were done, they went through the furnace operation with me. From start to finish, I saw the professionalism of both Lenny and Scott. I have told Ron Stevens, Systems Specialist for Cooney, that I don't want anyone else doing this type work in my house but Lenny and Scott. I will definitely recommend Cooney A/C and Heating to others.

Got them through a referral from Home Depot. First advised by company they could not come out for an estimate for weeks and then when I said I wasn't interested they managed to "fit me in" the next day. While waiting for estimate I did have them move a vent in the living room for me. I asked for a 3:00 PM time for that service but they insisted it couldn't be after 1:00 PM. I said fine and then their employee did not show up until after 3:30 PM. Work was done okay but I had to do much of the cleanup. Got an estimate on replacing hot water heater, gas furnace and central air conditioning. Negotiated price seemed acceptable. Was told several times that the payment would be $500.00 upon contract and balance upon completion of job. Met to finalize deal and when I told them I didn't have a Home Depot credit card and didn't want to apply for one I was suddenly told that the entire job would have to be paid in advance. I found that to be extremely deceptive and dishonest and that was the last I dealt with them. I don't know the quality of their HVAC work but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone based upon their practices.

AAffordable Solutions by Brian
We were away when Brian & crew performed the job.  Brian and I developed a generally descriptive task list during the job estimation, and I provided the materials (vanity, towel rods, fan, toilet, fixtures, ect.) A bit of structural repair was also included. When we returned, we found a well done remodeling job that all in the family were pleased with.  Additionally, Brian promptly returned to address matters in a brief punch list, and provided a creative solution to a particular aspect of the job, the heating vent. Costs did not exceed the estimate.  The only downside of the job is that the bright, shiny new bathroom made evident the work needed in other parts of our home.

FDave Becks Remodeling
Dave Beck was hired to do a 2 story addition on my home and we had issues from day one when he took my initial payment to begin work and then told me he was leaving for two weeks to Jamaica, leaving me to oversee the project every day with sub contractors who ran into issues daily. One destroyed up my brand new AC when relocating the unit to start. Every day issues arose that added unnecessary stress because Dave was unprepared in ordering materials in a timely scheduled manner with the money I kept paying him. He always used excuses, like not having the roof trusses on time , because Dave said in the past he could get them within a week. On May 24 we had heavy rains for two weeks and he failed to properly tarp my exposed ceiling properly when his crew warned him it would flood. They told me they requested a full 40 x 40 tarp and he told them no, get a smaller one. This caused heavy rain water to seep in and flooded my first floor into my basement and two crawl spaces that contained thousands of dollars in Christmas collectibles and items from my entire life and those of my children I was saving for them. Dave's attitude when I called or texted telling him my house was flooding was beyond reckless. He would take his time responding and it took him 4 days to actually come into my house to see the water pouring in. He was always in a hurry and acted like he was being bothered . I have documented over 900 texts/ video footage and photos from the whole duration from mid April until I finally fired Dave Beck on July 11. After he had to pay to replace my new AC and then the flooding which was his fault, he became extremely argumentative and threatening to me with witnesses there. I wanted to have another contractor come in to access the damage he did and also Servpro, where he then screamed at me in my kitchen I was hiring his competition and breaching the contract, that he would sue me. Just the mention of a lawsuit backed me in fear into a corner being a widow on a fixed income. Rain water poured into my new furnace, vents, behind and in front of my kitchen cupboards, into my stove and microwave. My entire kitchen ceiling and areas that were not part of the addition were flooded. Dave Beck promised he would do a professional water cleanup job, but fell far below what Servpro told me was required to clean that amount of water damage to my two floors and personal items. Dave Beck purchased two cheap $10 box fans and placed them directly in pools of water. He used my old shop vac and my barely functioning dehumidifier for what Dave now called, " Dehumidification Process." He essentially left one of his crew members at my location the next days after to clean up the mess after he spent a few hours finally on Memorial Day helping my son and I clean the water up using my pots, pans, towels and shower curtains to protect areas and absorb water. I called him in the early A.M. hours of Memorial Day to tell him I had been working non-stop two days cleaning up a mess he created by not tarping my roof properly and he needs to come inside and see for himself , instead of just doing an exterior check and taking off. He told me all his crew had the day off for picnics and he himself did not show up until 7 pm. He then tarped the roof in the dark rain and mopped up some of the basement water until 11pm. The next day I contacted him asking why he wasn't at my house first thing, since it was such a major disaster and I was his biggest project at the moment. He snapped at me he was there until 11 pm and i had to be patient. At 2 pm I reached my limit and told him I was going to Town Of Cicero Codes Office. There I was informed of his prior history of doing similar. Dave Beck from that day on said I was costing him money, even those all the events that damage my home and items was his fault or of a sub-contractor. I continued to pay him money with minimal work being done. His own crew of 4 warned me daily that he was not using my money to purchase materials necessary to move forward rapidly to complete my project. Dave would have his crew literally standing around twiddling their thumbs upset Dave was dragging his feet supplying the proper material or tools to do work necessary. A lot of what was getting done was not as I had discussed prior with Dave, but would cave and give in under the fear he would not show up and pull his crew off site , as he is known to do with me and from other complaints I read with Attorney Generals office did to other customers. The shower stall was to not have an edge, but a smooth transition to make it easy for a wheel chair or walker to glide right in. I stated I wanted two different shower heads and they installed plumbing for only one. All this time after Dave Beck tarped my roof, I notified him almost daily rain was still coming into the kitchen. The issue was finally resolve AFTER he was fired and another contractor found a large gap in my roof and photographed it. Dave Beck had been standing in that exact spot the day I fired him and could not of missed it. He cut corners, did not follow through with important concerns, he would not properly write down notes , measurements for doors and windows and would ask me over 30 times what sizes I wanted. I realized he was stalling me with this tactic and not ordering materials to close up the exterior of the house. Days after I fired him, I and an assistant contacted Erie Materials and spoke with Paul who told me Dave Beck ordered my windows July 14 with cash. Days after being fired he finally ordered the right size windows with money I paid separate outside of the contract. Dave Beck writes up his contract where I the customer pay separate for most materials. I have documentation and texts the show Dave Beck telling me how much to write a check for and that he was ordering them, but then gave me excuses why the materials were not arriving. His crew kept warning me he was cutting corners and using my money elsewhere. One day Dave Beck came to my house in a complete rage screaming at me for more money. My 27 year old son was upstairs working and one of Dave's crew members was upstairs in my bathroom. They both heard him intimidating and threatening me in a complete rage. He screamed things that did not make sense and refused to talk calmly. He screamed at the top of his voice while stepping closer to me " YOU ***** LIAR !!!!!!! YOU ***** LIAR !!!!!!!!!! PAY ME MY MONEY NOW YOU ***** THIEF !!!!! YOU'RE STEALING FROM ME YOU ***** LIAR !!!!!!" I told him at that point I felt I paid way above the amount of work he claimed was done. I said from what his own crew told me and from what I could tell it was 40 to maybe 50 percent done. ( And I found out most of that work now has to be torn down and redone properly after having other construction firms come through and give me their objective opinion on the addition project and flooding damage.) Once again I was in fear of his rage working in my house and just wanted the project done and him out of my life and my two sons living at home lives. His daily disruptions were erratic and frightening, and I fear for my safety and my sons having hired someone working in this manner in our home. On July 11 Dave Beck told me I owed him more money and he felt he was 90 percent if not 95 percent done. That day he had a tile guy installing glass blocks I paid for separate to be installed. His two crew men, one his own project manager told me the glass blocks were being improperly installed and would collapse the first time I try to clean them or touch them . They said for me to ask the tile guy what method he used to install and he showed me a tube of silicon he said Dave Beck told him to use . The crew said ask him about "Mortar and Mesh." I did and again he showed me silicon. The same tile guy installed tile on the floor and the area where a design was to be laid out looked very choppy and unprofessional. Edges did not match up and Dave Becks own crew said it needed to torn up and redone. I could list countless issues and problems I experienced all day , every day. Dave Beck bullied me to the point I ran out of my own house in fear. I have since had several professional contractors, Insurance adjusters and Lawyers review my home, the texts, the videos and photos and they reply they all agree this was unprofessional. I've got estimates from contractors for a partial tear down of his shoddy and even dangerous work. The glass blocks need to all be redone and installed properly. The heat venting is not up to code and he refused to listen to me when I told him where to vent the furnace. The plumbing work has to be re-routed and insulated. Dave Beck assured me he insulated the **** out of the plumbing. I've since been told there in no insulation and he also had it vented improperly on the roof. The electrical was not up to code and improperly installed or covered completely by painted Sheetrock. It will now cost me double to tear down , fix and complete this addition , on top of the $54,000 I've paid plus all the materials I paid for separately . Dave Beck refused to provide me with his Insurance information, even though his texts show he continues to tell me he will provide it. I was notified he is still not cooperating with my Insurance Company. Daily sub contractors were packing up and complaining they were not being paid by Dave Beck. I received a receipt by the architect he made me pay for. Originally Dave Beck told me the Architect would charge $300, no more than $500. The Dave told me when it was completed I owed $1600 for the architect. I was not happy with the gross difference in charge, so Dave Beck said he talked him into receiving $1400. After Dave Beck was fired, we contacted the Architect who stated Dave Beck never paid him for the work at my house. But i was in possession of a signed receipt saying the architect was paid. I want Dave Beck held accountable for his actions.
