Recent Review: IT'S AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! The work that was done was done poorly and incompletely. I've had to fix & finish it myself. The 2-3-man crew wouldn't work on Mondays, Fridays or weekends. On the 3 days a week they did work they'd show up around 10am, put in 2 or 3 hours and leave. They tore off my old gutters, didn't even haul they away and then left me with no gutters at all for a whole month during which it rained heavily, causing a damp basement and other problems. When they did return to install the gutters they did a half-assed, unfinished job in which water now runs off the roof between the gutters and fascia. For more than 3 months they've promised to come back and fix them, as well as finish all the other work, but have never shown up on the many occasions they said they would. The remaining work, for which they received a sizeable down payment (to "cover materials") has never even been started. They were paid in full for the painting and deck work even though thought it wasn't finished because they promised they'd do that along with everything else. Big mistake! HOMEOWNERS BEWARE this father-and-son team of Roger (son) and Wendell Pike, sometimes doing business also as R&W Contracting or variations thereof, operating primarily in Schuyler, Yates, Steuben, Tompkins & Chemung counties (NY). They are INEPT AND UNRELIABLE. Do not hire these guys no matter what they say or how much money they promise to save you! And if you're foolish enough to do it anyway, do not pay them much upfront or give them final payment until the work is finished and done 100% to your satisfaction. And be sure they give you a valid, VERIFIABLE business address so you can take them to court later! Update 3/26/2014: Since my initial complaint I?ve found that the paint they applied to my deck (which was a top-quality brand) was put on incorrectly, resulting in significant peeling and erosion over the winter. Wendell Pike contacted me in October, admitting that they hadn?t finished the work and promising yet again do so before the month?s end. Once again, that didn?t happen.
