Recent Review: This referral came from the Elmira City Public Works when I called them seeking sidewalk contractors.  Richard Voorhees, the contractor was very professional, he explained my options and gave me a reasonable estimate for the job.  He assured me the world would be done in accordance with Elmira City guidelines and new sidewalks would not be put in until the city inspected the preparations and gave a go-ahead. The work began shortly after I signed and returned the written estimate.  The crew work long days removing sidewalk blocks and always cleaned up as they went along.  The worksite was marked off with cones at the end of the day and the workers came back daily and continued until the job was completed.  My compliments to the quality of work and the length of time it took. I am very satisfied, and would recommend this contractor for sidewalk replacement and blacktop resurfacing, it was a pleasure to do business with them.

Recent Review: I was very pleased with the estimate from Jim Yarbrough (owner) - it was full of detail (he asked questions to be sure he was giving me what I wanted) and much less expensive than a similar quote (with much less detail) from another contractor. The work they did was fantastic - solid, professional quality - and the extra touches are really nice. For instance, Jim found some copper caps for the posts that matched the solar lights I already had in other areas. He also made some really nice railings, took the time to sand down the edges of the deck planks to give them a nice finished look, and he raked the soil back in around the sidewalk after the concrete set. The project took a bit longer than I'd hoped - there was a break in the middle where Jim got caught up in other stuff - but I was more than satisfied with the apology he gave me, and the quality of his work is so high that I would absolutely hire him again.

Recent Review: He was very courteous and polite. It only took him a couple of days. He gave me a few more sidewalk slabs since he purchases them in bulk. He did not want them to go to waste. The work that was performed was excellent. I would definitely use them again.

Recent Review: I received a quote from a couple of different places for the service I ended up going with Al for and he was by far the most competitive. The work done was top notch and he was very friendly, would give me updates if I asked when he was coming. I would say the only negative would be that he kind of just shows up - glad I had my cars and everything clear of the driveway when he came because I had no idea until a few hours before. He also fixed the portion of my neighbors drive between the sidewalk and road since it was pretty old and deteriorating - they were super grateful and thanked us but I told them we had nothing to do with it, that was all Al! He also took some concrete we tore up from our sidewalk (as part of another job we are working on) for us so we wouldn't have to worry about dumping it. Very generous guy, the crew was friendly and overall had a great experience.

Recent Review: The job took about three days for one to two men. The end result is spectacular. You know when a job is done right. You look at it and you just smile, whereas before you cringed. I want to bring visitors to my home now to see the path and sidewalk. My only caution is to watch with concrete work for heavy machinery or trailers used to shuttle and dump the old materials - sometimes these trailers are very heavy and hard to maneuver (we live on cul-de-sac) and can damage your driveway. Luckily Pete and his team where meticulous. Lastly - the work is very dusty. Pete's team cleaned up well and as best they could and its hard to tell they where ever here, but there is a film of concrete dust over the front porch and windows that we will naturally need to clean up. I can't see any way around the dust so take precautions if you have anything precious nearby that needs to be kept dust-free like an expensive car...). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pete Sedlack's team at HOPGART CONSTRUCTION for concrete refinishing and pouring, driveway repair and installation. If you want to come view my sidewalk send me an email.

AHD Concrete
I got them off Angie's List. They did the side walk for one of my apartment buildings. It went well and they did everything that they said they were going to do; they removed all the concrete in a day and poured it in two day because there was some waiting, due to rain so it wasn't their fault. They also contracted to put gravel in the drive way and they cleaned up everything after in a timely manner, so after they left everything looked great and I felt really good about it. I think they did a very good job and I was happy with it. They are going to come and do the sidewalks at my house two weeks from now, so I am going to use them again.

AALAN J BACCILE
I called Al Baccile Paving to get a quote on a new driveway.  I had planned on removing my existing asphalt driveway and replacing it.  After talking to Al, I changed my mind.  Al said he thought I'd end up with a better driveway if I paved over the existing asphalt, which was in fairly good shape.  He said ripping out the old driveway would make more money for him, but he thought the final product wouldn't be as solid.  He was in the process of doing my neighbor's driveway, so he gave me a quote the next day.  I thought the quote was reasonable and I thought he did a good job at my neighbor's house, so I signed the agreement.  I didn't know when I would get on his schedule, since it was summertime.  As luck would have it, Al called me about four weeks later, while I was out of town on vacation.  However, a few days after I got back from vacation, Al called again and wanted to start my job the next day, so I agreed.   He and his crew arrived promptly when promised.  They wasted no time getting to work, first leveling my existing driveway with more fill, then removing a basketball net and shrub next to the driveway, since they were adding a 6-foot "apron" on that side.  He had six people working, and none of them ever seemed idle - his crew was like a well-oiled machine!  They finished excavating where the apron was going, then put down the new asphalt.  They were done in about 3 1/2 hours, when I had expected them to take most of the day.   They did a great job blending the new asphalt with my existing concrete sidewalks and the street.  The end result was excellent!   Al recommended I keep vehicles off the new driveway for a few days, which I did, and to water it daily, which I also did.  He also recommended sealcoating it in the spring.  We've now been parking on it for a couple of weeks and it still looks great. I recommend Al to anyone in the area.  He has a good reputation and it seems well-deserved.  My only criticism is that I didn't know when my job would be scheduled, and I found out at the last minute when he was ready to do it. Other than that, no complaints!
