Review for East Elmhurst Master Bathroom Remodeling

AAmerican Home Remodeling Inc
The remodel of our master bathroom turned out beautifully. We have an 80 year old home and the space for the remodel was small and challenging. The people at American Home, especially Vic, were very knowledgeable and provided good insight to help us make decisions. Mario did our tile work and he was a true master. The shower walls and floor look amazing. It was even noted by the shower door installer that the tiles were perfectly straight. Something he rarely sees in older homes! Our experience with American Home was exceptional. Everyone from the office staff to the artisan workers were true professionals. In fact we called them a few months later for some masonry work outside (also beautiful!). Highly recommend this company.

Jack and his team did a great job. They showed up on time everyday and completed the bathroom earlier than we thought. We are very pleased with the results. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone.  They were clean, friendly and professional.

Michael and his team did an excellent job.  They had good attention to detail and any issues that arose they took care of right away.  Michael insisted on doing the tiling himself (which turned out great BTW) and I think that's a sign of the diligence he applies in running his business.  We also had a leak occur almost a year after the work was done and he came out within a day with his guys to dig in and get it resolved (not a small job).  I would highly recommend him for a bathroom remodel.

The work took longer than estimated, but it was a custom job.  The work was very good, the workers professional, and although there were some minor mistakes they were corrected.  The folks that worked on the bathroom had excellent ideas concerning the remodeling given we didn't have all the details nailed down.  We are very happy with the results.

The timing was good, from quote to inception was timely. The team of workers came (just about) every day until job was complete. There were 2 interruptions. I am not satisfied with a few of the finished products and I am not getting resolution. There is an issue with the installation of the shower glass walls, which the manufacturer has assured me if it is not resolved it is going to void the warranty on the walls and door. Otherwise I was/am pleased with the rest of the work performed. The installation team made a few mistakes in the tile design, not the end of the world, but it was not what I originally asked for (and signed the proposal for)

Greg was always extremely responsive and quick to make any needed adjustments. We did a complete master bath renovation in an older house and there were several issues that came up during the work. Greg always worked with us to figure out solutions and the end result was great.

AW M Remodeling Inc
After interviewing and obtaining estimates from several highly recommended contractors, I signed a contract with Wolfram Merz for this bathroom remodeling job around the beginning of May 2013 on the understanding that he would not be available to start work for several months. Although Wolfram's estimate was not the lowest (or the highest), I thought he would do the best job and provide the most value for the money. Among other things, Wolfram was the only remodeler to provide drawings at this initial discussion stage, which was extremely helpful since the job not only involved the conversion of a bathtub to a large shower, but the enlargement of the bathroom by moving a wall adjoining a large walk-in closet. Wolfram patiently reworked the drawings several times to reflect my comments, suggestions and concerns, and impressed me with his extensive knowledge, experience, and attention to detail. It was well worth waiting in line for the work to begin. Wolfram does all of the work himself with the help only of his assistant of 14 years (Danny, who is himself an accomplished craftsman). The job was a gut renovation, involving, among other things: removal of the existing bathtub, vanity, floor and wall tiles (including sheetrock); removal and reframing of a partition wall adjacent to a walk-in closet; plumbing work for new vanity, shower and toilet; electrical work for new light fixtures, ceiling exhaust fan, outlets and light switches; installation of a new subfloor; installation of a drain for a curbless shower area (suggested by Wolfram); installation of a custom shower seat and knee wall; installation of new water resistant sheetrock; installation of floor and wall tiles throughout; installation of additional ceiling light over shower and of an exhaust fan/light /heat combination fixture vented through the attic and roof; installation of a new cast iron steam baseboard radiator; and, installation of a new vanity, sink, faucets, shower fixtures, toilet, medicine cabinet, and accessories (towel bars and hooks, shelving, soap dishes, toilet paper holder, etc.).  Once work begin, Wolfram (and Danny) were extremely punctual, arriving each and every weekday at 8:00 am (you could set your clock by it) and working until at least 4 pm (bringing their lunch with them). The work was meticulously done, as Wolfram is a real craftsman and a perfectionist. There were unforeseen issues and problems, as might be expected for a house that was built in 1935 and a bathroom that had not been upgraded for decades. Wolfram always consulted me when appropriate  before making any decisions on issues that arose during the course of the work and, for the most part, did not charge extra to deal with unexpected problems. Wolfram did not simply raise problems, but always seemed to find or propose a solution. As one small example, when the shower arm that had come with a high-end shower head seemed a bit short to be comfortable where it was to be installed, Wolfram found a perfect replacement online that night and, with my approval and thanks, had it overnighted for installation the next day. All of the work done was of the highest quality imaginable, and Wolfram was at all times a pleasure to work with. He always seemed to have a suggestion when asked, but was never overbearing; and would gently and politely let you know if something you wanted him to do might be problematic. As a testament to the quality of the work, I have not had to call Wolfram once in the six months since the job was completed. I expect that my next call to Wolfram will be for the remodeling of my downstairs bathroom.   .

Excellent, cannot say enough good things! I hired Freddy based on Angie's List for remodeling our master bathroom. A wall had to be taken down and the whole new bathroom constructed from scratch. Freddy managed everything for us - the architect for creating the drawings, the work permit, plumber, electrician, painter, inspections. As the work permit took longer than ecpected, we were in a crunch to finish everything before Christmas when we were expecting family staying over at our house, but Freddy managed to finish the entire job in less than four weeks, which was absolutely amazing. Not to mention that everything has been executed with meticulous attention to detail and with minimal mess in our house. Working with him has been a pleasure, always responsive, going the extra mile to get the job done, and always thinking ahead. In terms of pricing the quote (and final price we paid) was also very reasonable for the job. We had a very bad contractor experience before when redoing our kitchen. I am so glad we hired Freddy for the bathroom, and definitely will do so again when updating the next bathroom in our house. Lots of friends have already asked me for his contact after seeing our bathroom, and I am happily recommending Spista Contracting to them.
