Recent Review: It took a lot of phone tag to finally get the technician to our house, but once here he was efficient and professional and did an amazing job. The chip was in the edge of a white quartz countertop, very difficult to match perfectly, and the repair is absolutely invisible. Not the lowest bid, but worth the price.

Recent Review: We had a good experience dealing with this company. After we picked a slab, they sent someone out to take the templates and asked us to come back the next day to make sure that the individual pieces are cut out to our liking (to approve their positioning on each slab). The countertops were installed two days later. The crew was professional and made sure that everything was performed to our satisfaction. One of the seams by the sink was slightly more visible than the rest, which I noticed after they already finished the work. When I called to inquire about what can be done to make it look better, they sent someone out the next day, who adjusted the color. Overall, I think their people know what they are doing, even though they can be a little rough around the edges, and I would recommend this Company. My parents also ended up using them around the same time and had a positive experience.

Recent Review: I had hired this company because I had gotten good reviews from two friends that had used them in the past. After I put down the down payment I checked Angie's list and saw the only other review which was an F. I started to get very nervous but I shouldn't have worried. The crew was professional, polite and punctual. I got a great price and a superb installment job. Everything went smoothly and my counter tops are beautiful

Recent Review: Came out to our house in mid-November.  Decided to get the work done because Mike Mayer seemed like a very nice guy, very professional and we thought we got a good price.  There was a slight problem because some materials did not arrive to Mike on time, and the work had to be delayed by 6 days, I think.  Mike told me about the delay, stayed in contact with me throughout, and even the delay did not last as long as anticipated.  Mike and his co-worker were very pleasant, very professional and very easy to work with.  We'd go back to them in a heartbeat.

Recent Review: Excellent.  We have used the company several times in the past.  Although we feel they are expensive compared to what we might be able to spend, their work is excellent, they are professional, they are dependable and we get the craftsmanship for which we pay.  We have called them back for repeat jobs and when conditions warrant, we ask for the same workers as we have had in the past.

Recent Review: Overall, my experience was very positive.  From the time I sat with Jim to review my quote, to the day that Jim conducted a final walk-through of the work, he wanted to be certain that my experience was positive.  Jim & Tim were able to schedule their resources to address some critical timing I had with a portion of my work prior to the Christmas holiday.  They were flexible to work with and produced quality results.

DJT Construction
A few years ago, the owner of the company (Joe) put on our roof and deck. At that time, the quality was good. However, it took months for it to be finished. When we were looking for quotes to install a new counter and backsplash, and sink - we were looking for quotes. JT Construction came in the lowest. However, we informed Joe how displeased we were with the amount of time it took him to get our deck finished. He apologized profusely and stated that at that time he was having some personal problems and guaranteed it would not happen again. We were waiting for him to start this job when one day he showed up in the afternoon and informed me that he was about to start a big roofing job and that we would have to wait. However, if we had his Uncle Tom - who was an expert in kitchens, then it could be done in a day. Joe assured us of Tom's professionalism and that he did work for Home Depot. We knew it would take more than one day. At first it was two days/weekend. When we asked Tom when he would be back to finish - he did not know. During the week we learned Tom would be back on Saturday November, 13th. My husband canceled his plans for that day. Saturday morning, Tom called to say he would now be here on Sunday but would not leave until the job was done. The sink was installed but it leaked. There is a large gap in the corner of the counter. There are others spots that are loose and not 'true.' We heard from both Tom and Joe at least twice that they had not forgotten about us, yet did not come to make the repairs (we had already mistakenly paid them because we considered this to be an hours worth of work and figured they would get right to it). On Friday November 26, the corner piece of the counter peeled off. We called Joe. He told us to call his uncle directly. We did. Tom said he would call us back to schedule when he would come and fix this. We heard nothing. Wednesday, December 1st, we called Tom and left yet another message. Still heard nothing. We contacted Joe Friday December 3rd. Joe called and told us he would be here today, Saturday December 4th. We re-arranged our plans. At approximately 1:45pm Joe called to inform us that yet again he would not be coming to make the repairs. He told us to call his Uncle Tom - even though, Tom does not return calls. Thus, we will once again be staying at home - waiting. My husband told Joe that his uncle had until 5pm tomorrow to fix this or we would expect Joe himself to be here no later than 10am to make the repairs himself. Joe offered up many excuses so we will see if it happens. We called Tom - who of course did not answer. While I understand this is not a big dollar job - we still expect some level of professionalism. Fool me once.... Today, December 5th. Tom's apprentice showed up at approx 11:20am. He could not repair the side pieces as he did not have the proper equipment with him. The pieces were cut incorrectly. He also could not fix the gap in the corner because all he had with him was wax. The apprentice apologized and said "yeah, Tom likes to do the big things but waits to do the little things later (like quality repairs?). So, still nothing is fixed. We will call Joe later this evening. This is getting beyond ridiculous.

AOLD WORLD REFINISHERS
We met with Mike Mayer (owner) in November, 2013.  We agreed on the scope of work and price.  He indicated that mid-December would be the earliest he could start.  Before he started, he arranged for us to meet at his place of business to select the countertop material.  Once we had selected what we wanted, he arranged a second visit to show samples of stained maple that he thought would complement the colors in the countertops and to select door and drawer hardware.  He purchased the wood veneer and doors from a supplier. He got clear of other projects and, with our agreement (due to the proximity of Christmas and the fact of having the kitchen torn up), started work 12/23/13.  He carefully sealed the doorways to the kitchen with plastic sheeting.  It was noisy, but that was to be expected.  Due to the condition of the surface of some cabinet areas, he had to use a smelly chemical to smooth it out.  He kept the smell down as much as possible by opening the window (it was cold!) and keeping the exhaust fan on.  This took place over 2 days.  All very reasonable things to do.  At the end of each day he and his helper cleaned up the mess they made and took all of the debris with them to be disposed.  When he found a drip in the finish on two of the doors, he took them back to his shop and removed the drips (can't tell there was ever an issue now.)  There was a roughly 2 week delay caused by my tile supplier not being able to obtain the tile from his distributor when he said he would (it appears to me that the tile distributor had drawn their stock down for for end-of-year accounting purposes.)   Mike was very understanding of this and was quite professional.  He went on to his next job awaiting notification from me as to when the tile would come in.  After I called, he came the next day to start the work after he finished some work he was doing elsewhere.  As it turned out, my tile supplier and I miscommunicated about how much of one tile needed and he ordered less than I really needed.  This was not apparent until Mike had gotten most of the way thru installing the tile.  He put in what he could, and promised to return once I had gotten additional tile from my supplier.  Happily, my supplier was able to obtain the needed tile the next day and Mike was back in to install it that afternoon.  He and his assistant finished grouting the tile the next day.  General assessment.  Very professional performance by Mike.  He was able to accommodate himself to the issues created by the lateness of my tile - twice!  He did this without complaint or any issue.  Kudos!  The actual time it took to do the work appeared to be very reasonable based on my personal experience doing similar work.  I would unhesitatingly do business with Old World Refinishers again. Quality of work.  1) The carpentry was first rate.  I am personally experienced at woodworking and have a grasp of the difficulties involved.  I would not give this comment easily.  My wife was fully satisfied.  All issues we identified were quickly addressed and resolved.  The wood work is beautiful.  2) The tile work was OK, but not stellar.  I also have experience with tile and appreciate the work needed to perform a top quality job.  On reflection, if I had to do this over, I would have had the tile work done by someone who only does tile work altho it almost certainly would have cost significantly more to do so.  My wife and I are very picky, others may be less so and be perfectly satisfied with the work that was done.  We made a trade-off here.  Responsiveness.  Mike was very responsive.  Customer first, seemed to be his unspoken motto.  See my comments about the tile delay above.  We communicated often by text message.  Mike is clearly excellent here. Punctuality.  Mike came when he said he would or called ahead to notify me of any changes.  Well done.  I was very pleased with this behavior.  Couldn't have been better. Professionalism.  See my comment under General Assessment.  Great guy.

Our experience with this company was great! We bought butcher block countertop sections from IKEA with hopes of installing them ourselves. After realizing that our older home had some pretty crooked walls, we knew measuring and installing them would be over our heads. F&F is right up the street from us so gave them a call. They sent someone out to measure and retrieve the wood the next day, and were finished and back to install 4 days later. The work was exceptional and the finished product was exactly what I wanted!

I saw there add on tv, and was intreaged with such low pricing being advertised for granite counter tops, So I approached with caution.  But to my surprise they where extremely friendly, incredible show room, they where there to me sure my kitchen with in two days, and my countertop was back to me the following week.  They showed up early and removed the old countertops and quickly disposed of the old tops, and took care in keeping my kitchen very clean through the whole process. The installers where very friendly and knowledgeable, and filled me in on the care and maintenance of my new granite.  I felt as a single woman very safe and was always treated with respect, I could not recommend a company more, and have informed several of my friends.  I did read reviews on angies list prior to purchasing tops, and was hesitant, but I was in on a saturday to pick out my stone and there where two other couples in prasing there work.   They had a huge amount of stones at there place to choose from, and It was nice to be able to pick the stone from a much larger piece then the box good stores showed me.   This upgrade to my kitchen was amazing and F&F made it easy I would highly recommend these guys, and will be calling later when I do my bathroom next year.

Overall, to finish the project that we paid for in full cost us an additional $900.00. We had to have it finished from a different source. That is just for the basic functionality to be finished in the home. The end quality of finished pieces were never fixed / finished (many surfaces and edges) were not polished to a smooth finish, they were left in close to raw luster and roughness. WE WOULD NEVER RECOMEND THIS COMPANY !! Do not be fooled by them, we are still confused if it is due to pure laziness,  complete disregard for professionalism, or just feeling that they just don't care about reputation. Also do not trust your general contractor that may recommend them!!!
