Bridgeport Bath Exhaust Fan Installation

A NIGHTMARE.  Another mis communication. The installer did not have the fan to install.  i had to leave him my house unattended while i went to purchase a fan I thought would fit.  He never examined the fan to make sure it was  good fit.  He was in an obvious hurry to get the job overwith.  As he was leaving, he told me the lens for the fan was missing from the package.  He said I just needed to snap it in, after I got a replacement from the store.  When I went to snap the lens in, the entire face of the fan fell out of the ceiling along with insulation from the attic.  That's when I noticed the break in the ceiling.  He didn't even try to saw it, he must of just hammered it.  It is a jagged hole.  We were unable to get the face back into the ceiling .  It is not taped up to the ceiling.  Plus overtime we turn the fan on, we are plummeted with insulation.  I am hiring my electrician to fix the mess.  I should have hired him to do the original installation.  Unfortunately, I paid for this mess, before I realized how bad this really was.  So, I was stuck paying for 4 hours of work, when actually he was only here 2 hours.  BAD

Work was completed over 2 evenings. All work was completed in a professional manner. In addition, when his helper was in the attic cutting the hole for the bath exhaust fan, he discovered that the vent hose for the other bathroom exhaust fan had come disconnected. He reconnected the hose for me at no additional charge. This is the type of thing that not all contractors may have mentioned, let alone repaired at no additional charge. This situation could have easily developed into a future mold problem. Kudos to his helper for letting me know about the needed repair.

The service providers worked hard to diagnose the cause of water leaking from our bathroom exhaust ceiling fan. They located the two causes replaced and rerouted the vent hoses up in the attic. Not an easy job because of the crawl space. They also repaired water damaged ceiling spots in two locations. I was so happy to find them because I had previously contacted 3 other "handymen" to do the job who said they could do it but never called me back. TNT Improvements saved the day.

Brian and Kelly did fantastic work. He was honest and upfront about the repairs and continued to work them until they met high quality standards. Estimate was received in a timely manner. At the end of each day great care was taken to clean up the work area. Would definitely hire again and recommend to others.

Tough job, as it was accessed via the attic. Got it done quickly and sent pictures of the completed work.

Patrick came and discussed some of the areas I would like to repair and remodel prior to putting my home on the market.  First was installing a bathroom ceiling fan as the house did not have one, and our faucet and lighting fixtures were rusting due to the shower steam.  Patrick let us know that he was busy, but whenever he had some unexpected time he would call, which is what he did.  Approximately 2 weeks passed, and Patrick had a cancelation so he sent over Tim.  When Tim showed up, he assed the job and conveyed to us that our current electrical was less than correctly done by the prior home owner (no surprises there).  He repaired the electricial to an appropriate state, and installed the fan, new double switch, and wiring through the wall.   In addition and undiscussed, we asked if he could fit in a new bath faucet install.  He was happy to do it, so then he removed, and installed a new bath faucet, drain and new shut-off valves (which we never had before in the bathroom).  Tim also discovered a vent issue which we were unaware of, which could be a safety issue for our family.   So it's not going to be long before we ask them to come back!  Job well done, Tim was a gentlemen, listened to our concerns and explained the issues in a manner that we understood.   The quote was about right, however the price paid included the plumbing, which wasn't originally discussed, so it could have been less than quoted without the sink faucet.

We hired Martin to install two bathroom exhaust fans in rooms that didn't have existing rooms. So not only was their electrical work to be done for installing the fan, but he also needed to place a vent on our house and run the duct lines to it. Climbing into the attic was no pleasant task, but Martin did the job for a very reasonable fee. He was prompt, professional and cleaned up after the job. The fan installs look great, as well as the exterior work for the vents. We'd definitely hire him again.

I have been looking for a reliable and professional handyman service for several months now.  I had a couple other guys through word of mouth look at the project and then schedule the work but they would never show up.  I decided to check out Angie's List and found O'Toole's based on their good reviews.  I talked to Pat who is the owner and he was able to get the work scheduled quickly since it was inside work and it has been raining a lot lately.  He had Tim complete the work.  Tim was very professional and was on time ready to do the work.  My house was built in 1925 so nothing was as easy as it seemed.  Tim took the time to install everything correctly and to code.  He was adamant about not cutting corners which impressed me.  He also took the time to explain everything and why he was doing it.  Now that I have seen their work, I have several other projects in mind that I will be requesting Tim for in the future.  Highly recommended.

There were a lot of dislikes. I had a problem with them. They got the initial fans in but it was sloppy work. They left big gaps between the fan and the ceiling. Just messy as far as leaving junk up in the attic. They weren't prepared as far as having the attic ducting itself that vents outside. They forgot to do the knock out plugs on the actual fans themselves and left them uncovered with the insulation on top of them. I had to call them back that day and have the guy that does the estimates come back out. It seems like one of those unbelievable rants that people have. After he came back to look at the stuff because I didn't want the guys to come back. I told the dispatcher that I didn't want the original guys back here. They guy who initially did the estimate came out to look as the stuff and he was kind of like it was my fault that I didn't tell them right away while when they were still in the house that these problems were there. Even when I asked the guy who did the thing before paying them I said can you show me what you guys did. He was just joking around or serious and he said what do you want me to do show you how to turn on a light switch. I kind of laughed it off and said come on lets go upstairs and take a look. I pointed out some things to him and he just shrugged it off and said yeah the other guy I was working with is kind of sloppy. They can improve by getting qualified people who care about their work. It was a pretty simple job putting a bath fan in. They got it done but a lot of mistakes. They did come out and tried fixing it after we did a punch list of stuff. But even then it was a long time between when they did the work initially and them coming back.

Replaced the sink, toilet, medicine cabinet, ceiling fan, and lighting, flooring--plus moved the heating to a side wall.  Replaced a couple of old pripes.  Sanded and primed the walls.  Did a good job.
