Recent Review: Palermo Tile went above and beyond with our guest bathroom renovation. Even from the initial step of obtaining an estimate, Palermo made me feel comfortable in working with them for this big project. I had received estimates from a few other companies as well who literally just e-mailed me a price tag, but Palermo Tile provided us with a thorough estimate outlining each step of the process. As an admitted "Type-A personality", I had so many questions in the beginning and Rick was always quick to answers my phone-calls and e-mails, I never felt as if I was bothering him. During the renovation process Rick and his crew were very respectful of my home and paid close attention to cleanliness, which I really appreciated. I found the whole process to be smooth and relatively painless and I attribute this to hiring the right contractor. My renovated guest bathroom is now one of the best features of my home and I highly recommend them.

Review for Beacon Master Bathroom Remodeling

AFirst Class Remodeling Inc
A complete master bathroom renovation in May 2013 was completed in our home of 23 years. The total project took 5 days (started on Monday and finished on a Friday afternoon). The bathroom is relatively small, measuring 4.5' x 10'. John performed the necessary removal of old wall tile, shower, vanity, toilet, floor tile etc. He installed new sheet rock in the shower area, new tile on shower walls and added new tile on walls outside of shower area along walls to the entry area (4' high, as applicable).  Other new installations included floor tile, sink/vanity, toilet and wall cabinet above the toilet, window and door trim, and painting. We hired a separate contractor to install a new glass sliding shower door (cost was $1100 incremental to John's quote, which we understood up front). We also spent an extra $2,000 on the tile (above John's allowance, which we understood up front).  Overall, the project went smooth and without problems or complications. John offered a good selection of vanity, toilet, cabinet etc to chose from. John is a very fast worker, which means you get your home returned to you in short order. He was always on time and stayed until approximately 5 pm, which worked out well for at night time. One thing my wife and I did was choose an Italian-made 'long brick' style of wall tile, measuring 8" x 19" each. These are beautiful tiles that really fill up the all space quickly; however, I would caution anyone considering such a tile size that their walls must be extremely level in order to have a smooth or even transition between tiles. I noticed in several areas of my existing walls (both inside and outside of shower area) that a certain amount of unevenness exists between tiles dues to the irregularities of the existing wall. Anyone considering the use of over-sized tiles MUST make certain that their walls don't have irregularities or the 'long brick' style tiles will accentuate the flaws of the walls. The same goes with our floor tile, which measure 13" x 13". The floor has some unevenness to it, which transferred to the tiles in terms of unevenness between tiles. We can feel a definite 'ridge' with some of the floor tiles. So, my advice is this when it comes to tile: bigger is NOT necessarily better.  I gave John a "B" for Quality solely because of the unevenness of the tiles as stated above. I do believe that the issue had more to do with the irregularities of the walls and floor than anything else; however, it is the finishing touch that counts most and I would like the tile to have had a  completely smooth and even transition across all tiles. I do wish John had brought these irregularities to my attention during the project. I made the observations myself and did some 'homework' to identify the root cause of the problem. I would hire John again for more projects in my home.

AAMV Interiors and Construction Inc
I don't know if there are enough wonderful words to describe AMV Interiors, and Aleks' work that he did for me... but let me start with this: Absolutely Professional Attention to Details Problem Solvers Kind and Helpful A JOY to have in my home Aleks, Ben, Mike, Justin and Billy are the DREAM TEAM of Renovators. They were at my door every morning as scheduled with huge smiles on their faces and an eternal positive attitude. We had some problem solving to do from day to day, as all renovations end up having, and every single issue was talked about, figured out, and implemented. Their motto? NO PROBLEM!! There was never a day that they called and said, "Well, we can't make it today because we've got other work to do". Since they all work as a team, and do everything themselves, from plumbing to painting to electrics to installation, I never had to experience the phone call telling me that the subcontractor wasn't available until next week. The Bathroom is GORGEOUS. Above and beyond my wildest expectations. The attention to details= and lovely precision of work is incredible. They figured things out problems that I didn't even KNOW was a problem. For example: there was a very slight gap between the wall and the vanities. I didn't even notice it. It looked just fine to me. But Justin noticed it, told me why they needed to be flush, and figured out how to make the vanities look PERFECT. If I was away from the house, Aleks made sure I was informed about everything they were doing, and texted and called if he needed to talk and problem solve. NOTHING was EVER a problem with these guys. I've never laughed and had so much fun with Contractors. They cleaned up beautifully and always made sure things were covered and put away every night before they left. I told them, and I meant it, that I really didn't want them to leave... I will be doing another round of renovations with our home in the future, and you can bet that I will be calling Aleks again. If you're in the Ellenville/Spring Glen area and beyond, you would be a fool not to call Aleks and book him as soon as possible. He's very popular, and is in high demand. Thank you Aleks, Ben, Mike, Justin and Billy for your beautiful work, and for being such a joy to work with. I look forward to having you back soon.

John Boer, the owner of Firts Class Remodeling was pleasure to work with. Once contract was signed after discussing the work/price, the project was completd on time and came out beautiful. He works on project himself 100% time and he does quality work with great dedication. My bathroom work involved shower stall (48 by 34 in) tiled, Toilet and vanity replaced, exhaust and medicine cabinet replaced. I will not hesitate using him for any future house projects.

ANew Dimension Construction
We used New Dimension Contracting for a small bathroom renovation. Kyle is creative and easy to talk to -- he spent a lot of time with us explaining different options and walking us through the process. When it came to construction, his team did a great job and left our house clean. Kyle was our point person throughout and worked with us to find creative solutions to some issues that came up, which he helped us resolve within budget (which was reasonable to begin with). We look forward to using NDC on our next project!

Andrew is responsive, knowledgeable and professional. In addition, his work is top quality. I highly recommend him and will be using him again for other projects. The bathroom looks great and the work was done quickly and costs came in under the estimate (now, when have you heard THAT?). He is honest and made recommendations that worked well.

CDBS Remodel
Received a quote for a master bathroom renovation. The bathroom is extremely small, measuring 4.5' wide by 10' deep. It has a single-sink with cabinet, toilet and topper cabinet, and shower stall (no tub). I was very pleased with the punctuality, professionalism and detail that was provided by the estimator. However, it is noted that the estimate was not free; it came at a cost of $400 (non-refundable), but that included an estimate for some office cabinetry and minor renovation in our family room. The bathroom quotation came in at $21,000. The original quote was closer to $20,000 but I found that some work was missing from the quotation (i.e., 4' high tiling on two walls, about 40 square feet). The revised quotation landed at $21,000. The materials allowance accounted for approximately $7,000 of the quotation. However, we realistically require about $5,000 in allowance to get the job done. The remainder (at $16,000) would account for labor. Since we thought the quotation was high (a gut feeling), we asked for two (2) outside quotations. Both service providers were culled from Angie's List (like DBS), and...their quotes were $9,500 and $10,500 respectively. Allowances were in the range of $5,000 for materials. Needless to say, we are going with one of these service providers. The odd thing for me was when I spoke to DPS about my findings and decision. The estimator didn't seem to care that I was not going forward with DBS. He basically listened and then said, "Okay, great, have a nice day." I was surprised at this response. Perhaps we were just too small for DBS to care about. However, that should be said upfront in a nice way -- and it could've saved me $400. What an unfortunate waste of money...
