Recent Review: Erica Lupien, the owner, is withholding one of my cabinet doors so that I can't reuse the top cabinets in another room and she owes me contractual insurance money for work undone that she stated at first was $2700. Now she says it's $2200, but I'm still not getting any of it. History: She was referred by Servicemaster, the outfit that my insurers recommended. He thought she was reputable because of his association with her in the BNI. We weren't able to get any other contractors locally. They all were busy. October 1st the contract was signed. She told me that she would have the damaged bottom cabinets matched to my top cabinets, but when they came in the colors were starkly different. She was able to get a refund from wherever she ordered them (I believe she guessed at the color rather than what she claimed were custom stained cabinets). Because of that we were going to have to replace both top and bottom cabinets but because of stock limitations in the stores, some top cabinets would be higher than others, so I finally found a local outlet that was professional and measured out and designed my cabinet configuration for me. I'm trying to order, but need my money back to finish the job. It's been 5 months since I've had lower cabinets. Her work: Extremely sloppy. It took her a long time to finally come to put the sub-floor in and there were big gaps in it. Then the next layer was put down in small squares with many nails in it rather than longer sheets of plywood. Meanwhile, she placed a chair, my table, and a shelf unit on another part of the floor that was the old sub-floor luan with glue on it. I had to have my handyman remove the glue from the new linoleum that was sloppily laid down and didn't fit properly. The cuts in the doorways were jagged which requires wider wooden threshold strips. She herself also moved my refrigerator right after the flooring was laid and the lineoleum buckled from it. A counter frame was in the contract to securely hold up the counter until cabinets came in. That wasn't done. The counter sits on 3 2x4s and 1 horizontal 2x4 and I see nails in the bottom of them that I hope haven't ripped my new floor. When the girl who was working with her mate painted, no tarps were put down so I have paint chips all over the house. It was tracked through my living room. When I saw the man starting to pull my heavy microwave cart from the kitchen onto my hardwood floor, I put out my hands and yelled for him to stop. He wouldn't! Now I have a swath of scratched hardwood floors too. When they pulled off the baseboard molding, 2 large holes were left in the sheetrock that they said they would have to patch. They blistered off a 13" long piece of newly painted sheetrock just above the counter that was temporarily replaced. I also had to pay to have my handyman fix the plumbing for the sink that wasn't done properly. Her responsiveness: Terrible! Her telephone voicemail is always full so that you can't leave a message. She doesn't answer e-mails or texts until you threaten to take legal action. When I called from a totally different phone number, she answered promptly and was very polite. I was willing to allow her to complete the job, but when you're ignored, you can't. My advice: Don't hire this woman, especially if you're elderly and alone. She lacks professionalism and common decency and also is quite vindictive. I now have to try to recover my losses through small claims court or the NYS AG Dept. of Consumer Affairs.
