AHNI Builders
They did exactly what they said they were going to do. And it came down well and we were surprised with that. We don't have any problems with it. They took it down good and nice. They repaired the building from the pieces they took out. They started on a certain time and ended just like they said they were going to. They cleaned everything back up. They were really good about it. It was wonderful. It cost a lot of money but it worked and we had to have it done in a hurry. We contacted them now to put another porch up. Even though they took the porch down, they want to charge a lot of money to put a small 10 X 12 wooden porch up so we're not even going to have them. We're having it done for $2000 but they wanted $6000 to do it so we said, "Forget it." But what they took down was a lot of brick plus they had to do some beams and had to melt them down to get them off the house. They did a lot of work for that. They were awesome taking it down for what they did for us. I called them back again about the porch because they did what they were supposed to do and I appreciated that. I will call them again for price but if it'll work out, it'll work out and if it won't then it won't. We have a lot of work to do on and off when we can and I'd like to rely on them to do that but if they're going to be doing that, I won't be calling them. It's a little bit too much. For taking down our porch, the price was okay because we had somebody else check it and it was a whole lot more. You would not know there's a porch there by the time they got done. They even packed the house so no water got into it.

ANURZIA CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION
Nurzia Construction is our “GO-TO” construction company.  We have had both residential and commercial work completed (large and small) with Nurzia Construction over the past 5 years.  All the work was done professionally and we could not be happier.  They were not always the cheapest but after meeting the competition, it was obvious that Nurzia’s price reflected the complete job.  The other contractors seemed to be setting us up for change orders along the way. What really set Nurzia apart is their core values as a company and their genuine concern for our family’s best interest.  It is no wonder why the Property Brothers TV show hired them to do 8 episodes.  Don’t be like the many people we know that wished they hired Nurzia after they had a bad experience with another contractor.

CBack Yard and Beyond
Contracted Back yard and Beyond in January 2018 to pour concrete foundation and build two car garage with storage loft. A few off things right from the beginning was, they would not set/install the silt fence, that is required for the homeowner to get the proper permits. Which is strange because a silt fence is always needed in the construction phase, whether its before or after permits are drawn, its up to the builder/contractor/person doing the work to provide and install this always.. i was about to cancel the contract for this fact and they came and installed it, but i had to run and buy the silt fence. On delivery of the roof trusses, the driver wasn't paying attention and got the truss top stuck on a curb and he gunned the truck, went over the curb, off the side of my driveway. in doing so, the truck crushed a good 6 foot section. The driver was kind and took pictures of the damage and stated that his boss would take care of it. Things happen , we all know this. So when i called the truss company boss he took no responsibility and also neither did back yard and beyond took no responsibility. Both kept stating " We are not responsible for ANY damage that we caused during the delivery of materials or ANY damage we caused during the construction of the garage to your property or to your home", both companies told me to call my homeowners insurance. Ridiculous, that a company would do that, being the amount of money we are paying for this. When the foundation was being dug/ laid, things were going smoothly, the weather was changing though. I had told David on Monday that the weather is going to be bad on Friday lets not pour the floor that day because of the snow, rain ,sleet forecast on coming, lets do any other day, but i was ignored and the floor was poured on Friday and covered with tarps right after the concrete pour. It snowed and rained the same day. After a few weeks the final slab inspection was done and a good portion of the finished floor was jagged and had rough spots because of the tarps being placed. I bought up my concerns to John and the concrete person came back and laid a epoxy over the entire floor to smooth out when the building was finished. The problem is , I was going to make the garage floor a brown color when it was completed. They did a steel grey and also the floor is so slippery now when it gets wet, its like a slip and slide. If Back Yard and Beyond had listened to me on that Monday and not poured the concrete floor that Friday, this would not have been an issue. Back Yard and Beyond Contracts another company to put up the garage. Those workers work ethic is great . Other than the boss pulling and parking on my front lawn everyday and leaving huge tire marks. Which he had the entire driveway and road to park on. After the building was done, the final inspection was done on the garage, it failed inspection, the railing on the outside stairs leading to the loft (it was way too wide for a hand too grip). So with this, the certificate of occupancy was held up. I called and emailed Back yard and beyond multiple times and did not receive a call for weeks. After , a few weeks, i got a call and was told " those hand rails usually pass, if you want us to come and remedy this you would have to pay additional fees in time and labor". So i explained this to the building department and they could not believe they would not fix there obvious mistake. I really did not want to have to deal with the ignored phone calls, emails ect, just wanted to use the garage. The upstairs loft plywood floor has some very spongy spots, very noticeable when you walk on it, its the wood that was used on the floor, some spots thin. In the end, the garage looks good seems solid, the workers who are on site are great. But, knowing what i know now, i would not contract Back Yard and Beyond again, simply on the fact, they did not finish the garage as contracted to pass inspection and also if they damage your property they will take no responsibility in fixing it, which is a big issue when a project like this is happening.

I had them come in and give me an estimate on building a addition onto our house. They came in, they reviewed. They gave an estimate. They gave ideas. They were very professional, very easy to deal with, very nice. The price is high. They're very professional. They gave information on what they would do from A to Z. They gave us some great ideas. They gave us information on how to get in touch with banks and who needs to be contacted and how in general they would work the job with us. Basically they are hands on on everything. They take care of everything from A-Z.

It went very well. Carpentry and fine finishing were very good. Supervision of subcontractors was very good. Excellent design skills. He was the best we dealt with when struggling to come up with a way to expand the house in a aesthetically pleasing way. It was a difficult site, and required all new services, e.g., electrical, plumbing, heating  and septic.

AGene Lazaroff & Son
Gene and Ryans' worth can NOT be captured in words. They are consumate professionals and gentlemen. They are not only experienced in building and its many aspects, they are current in their knowledge. Given their certification and knowledge in all necessary areas of the build they were able to single handedly complete the project (no subcontractors!!). They are not only capable of designing and crafting exactly what you want, they are desiring and able of "thinking outside the box" to build unique and timeless homes using top quality construction. Gene and Ryan did the work EXACTLY as they said they would EVERY day---even when we were not there!! They cleaned up every day leaving our home seemingly untouched....more importantly, they took every effort to keep our home dust free while working. They warned us about up coming "loud days" and made green product and building choices without our needing to ask simply because my partner was pregnant. They spoke openly about building and design choices and the associated costs. They educated us along the way so we could make any decisions that would effect the bottom line. They provided a price and timeline months before they began--had two unexpected events (common with remoding) and STILL finished when they promised!! It can be said that as consumers we expect builders to "know what they are doing" and "do a good job." We expect honesty and fairness and quality but what we remember and what makes us so happy to recommend Gene and Ryan is the fact that they are such quality people who are obviously proud or their craftmanship/knowledge and have every right to be so!

FAKERS CONSTRUCTION INC SHOP
We had a very poor experience with this company.  The work completed was below poor. I was paying wages for a qualified carpenter and was getting handyman-level quality work.  We ended up having to fire the company and their owner, Tim Aker, from this job.  The end result is we had lost a lot of money and had to hire another company to properly correct and complete the work.  It is now impossible to get a hold of Tim Aker to discuss how to rectify this situation.  We want to alert others to never hire Tim Aker for services, regardless of whatever name he is choosing for his company.  We have reason to believe he may be starting a new company and fear he may again produce the same poor quality of work through a new company.

AMetro Builders Corp.
We are delighted with the professional, polished job that Metro Builders did on our new home. We are very cost-senstive, demanding people, and we are admittedly not the easiest clients, as we have very high standards and asked for many custom features. Carl and Rosie Diesing took these requests in stride, made many excellent suggestions for improvements and cost-savings, and have managed to bring this project nearly to completion within our budget and without delays for any reason other than June's record wet weather. Metro Builders is a family business, and communication has been very easy and smooth. Rosie handles e-mails and business matters and Carl manages the construction crews. He has been doing business in the Hudson Valley for over twenty years, and has great relationships with the people who sell services and building materials. He saved us a fortune by referring us to great vendors who had amazing sales on quality products, and others who could explain the pros and cons of various systems we were considering for our home. We referred a friend to Metro Builders, and we were very pleased how quickly and how well Carl managed to complete her project without neglecting ours. We are very pleased with how our home turned out, as are the neighbors and people who happen to drive by. It makes us feel really great when we hear how well people think of our house. Getting this dream home built was a process fraught with setbacks before we were lucky enough to be introduced to Carl and Rosie. Some years earlier, we tried to build a modular home, only to have our efforts undermined by the fact that Chelsea Modular Homes went bankrupt and the owner cheated us out of nearly $10,000 by refusing to return our deposit.  After that terrible experience, we were determined not to make similar mistakes ever again. Once we had replenished our savings, we called builders all over the Hudson Valley and visited dozens of models and previously built homes. Metro Builders provided a comprehensive list of completed projects and invited us to contact the owners for reference. We were pleased with the uniformly excellent reviews of the people with whom we spoke and visited, and we admired the solid look, high-quality materials and creative features that were built into these homes. As a small company, Carl and Rosie can take on only a limited number of projects, but once they commit to a project, they put their full dedication into doing it well. We would give them the very highest recommendation possible, and we believe that anyone who is considering building a new home or residential development in the Hudson Valley and areas north of it should call Metro Builders first.
