Recent Review: The oven failed to light two months after we purchased the stove from them. I called them about 3:30 in the afternoon and a service tech arrived about an hour later.  He took the appliance apart and had the repair done in 30 minutes. There was no charge since I had just recently purchased the stove.

Recent Review: He came when he said he would. Leroy was very courteous and came across as being extremely competent at what he does. He had the part necessary, explained the reason for its existence, and made the change-out of the part in a timely fashion. I would not hesitate to recommend him to friends.

Recent Review: John came as scheduled, and quickly removed the 29 year old Tappan oven to work on it. He installed the new broiler element I had found on line, and the new hinge also. Unfortunately the hinge I purchased did not include a spring, which was broken on the old hinge, not allowing the door to stay partly open for broiling. I was unable to locate online a source - all web sites were out of stock. John went to the local hardware store and obtained a spring of approximately the right size and stiffness. He made it fit and work properly and quickly replaced the oven in the cabinet. He spent about 3 hours on my job.

Recent Review: Roy was easy to get a hold of and was kind enough to make an appointment for me after work. He was prompt and there before the scheduled time. I called Roy as he came highly recommended by a half dozen people when I asked around about appliance repair. He fixed my oven in under a half hour and for substantially less than I thought it was going to cost me. He thoroughly explained the work that he did and I will gladly recommend him and call him if I need any repairs in the future. Thanks Roy!!!! A++++

Recent Review: My 1962 Hotpoint/GE stove started throwing sparks when I was cleaning the oven. Mike's Independent Repair Services was the first appliance repair service that was comfortable working on a stove that old. The stove is built into the cabinetry in the kitchen and replacing it would have required us to rip up counters and cabinets to get it out. Mike was familiar with the stove make, model and year when I called (two other appliance repair places laughed when they heard this stove is almost 50 years old). He could have come out the next day, but I made the appt. for the day after. He gave me a 2-hr window for the estimated arrival time, and was at my house within that time period. He was not able to repair the wiring to the light inside the oven, but was able to sort of tape it off and make it safe. He also evaluated the four burners on the stove top. Three work well but the fourth needed both a new burner and a new switch, and he told me those parts aren't available anymore. We turned the power on and tested both oven and burners when he was done. I am low on cash right now and am happy to have a range that works (I can easily live without the oven light and 3 burners instead of 4). My biggest concern was that the stove be safe to use, and I'm confident that it is after having Mike work on it. He and his helper arrived on time, were professional and courteous, and knew what they were doing. His hourly rate of $55 is comparable with other repair services in this area. He spent about one hour here and the total charge including tax was just under $60. He has several licenses and also works on refrigerqators, freezers, washers, dryers and dishwashers. Bonded and insured. I would DEFINITELY use him again!

DCartwright's Plumbing Heating
Did not check gas pressures or anything that the manufacturer recommended.  Tech was not responsive to requests to check other problems.  No itemized bill. Got my money back when I complained.

They were charging me by the hour and the guy just kept talking and visiting with me. I didn't appreciate what was going on. They did repair it. They need more upfront pricing.

FRICHARDS ELECTRIC CO
e After waiting a month for the part to come in and be installed (hinges for an oven). It was discovered they were the wrong hinges. I questioned the owner, Tim, as he left if that was it (while pushing on the over door, sort of as a "Hey, this still isn't closing!"). He assured me that since the over light went off, that it was good. That night I placed something in the oven and discovered that even though the oven light was in fact off, heat was leaking from the top of the oven door. The next morning, I called to report that this was not okay and he'd need to come back. I was told, fairly rudely I might add, that he was on vacation and that I'd simply have to wait a week until he came back. A week later, I called to remind Theresa that he needed to come back. She said, "oh I tried to call you but got your voice mail so I didn't know if you still needed him." I asked why a message was not left on the voice mail, but got no clear answer.  So, yes, I still have an oven that is not holding it's temperature because the hinges installed are still the wrong ones. Yes, I need him to come back and fix it. A few days later, Tim comes back and sure enough, "I must have ordered the wrong ones." He assured me he would get those ordered right away. This was five weeks ago.On Monday morning (it's now Thursday), I called to ask if the parts had been ordered, if I had been forgotten about, if it would ever be fixed, or if they just took the money and ran? Theresa did "some looking' only to inform me that she would have to check with Tim and that she would call me back.  Tuesday, I called, again. Theresa would have to again check with Tim when he returned from Lovington. Later Tuesday, I call, Again. Tim had miraculously just gotten in and she would check again and call me. Fast forward to Thursday. I call AGAIN. Theresa informed me that she doesn't know if the part has even been ordered because "Tim won't give her a clear answer." Thursday afternoon, I decide that I'm just not okay with this so I call and request to talk to Tim. Either have him call me or give me his cell phone number. A-ha!! "I have talked to Tim and he did order the part!" said Theresa. I ranted for a bit about why it was that she didn't call to bother and tell me this information and she hung up on me. I will call AGAIN on Friday.
