Recent Review: The technician arrived sooner than estimated, which was appreciated.  They did give a 30 minute call ahead.  The technician checked the outdoor unit, attic unit, and interestingly, my hot water heater.  He cleaned out the outside unit.  All A/C parts were in good working condition.  He made some recommendations to keep everything running smoothly. I was surprised that he checked the hot water heater, though he did note it's age - quite old, but still running.  He made some recommendations for taking care of it, including consideration of a replacement tank. All in all, the work was performed as expected with professionalism.  I would use them again.

CBig M Plumbing Inc
Near as I can tell, the work was good. But whereas Big M completed the work in just two hours, the company billed me for eight hours. Roundtrip travel time was 2.5-3.0 hours. Therefore, even counting all travel time, Big M billed me for three extra hours. When I appealed, Big M cut back to one extra hour. In other words, six hours in all. It reduce the charge very reluctantly and only after repeated phone calls, and indicated it was doing me a great favor.   Big M did tell me at the outset the charge would be a minimum of 8 hours; at the time, I assumed I had an emergency-type problem that  would take a great deal of time and effort to repair. I was wrong.  Previously when Big M made a service call to my home, there was no billing problem or misunderstanding. I was well satisfied with the experience. Hence I was unprepared for the hassle  on this new occasion. As a result of my new experience, I caution others to carefully probe Big M's pricing policies. (Ordinarily Big M simply states there is a two-hour minimum labor charge.)  Though previously I was impressed with Big M, I now feel that this company cares more about charging all it can than about setting a fair and reasonable price and preserving a mutually respectful and loyal relationship.

AMr Rooter Plumbing Of Four Corners
The service went very well.  I called and asked if a plumber could come and change our expansion tank off of our hot water heater and was told that the plumber would be there between 1 and 3.  About 15 minutes before 1, the plumber called and asked if he could come by.  The service at the house went well and he used buckets and towels to make sure he didn't spill water everywhere.  The water that did drip on our garage floor was cleaned up before he left.  They accept credit cards and are very professional, I'd use them again!

Art showed up and was very nice and polite. Fixed the problem and gave in detail of how part of the septic works. Was very glad that he checked the septic tanks and helped fix the problem. Would definitely use Art with Affordable Plumbing again and would recommend him to everyone.

AAffordable Plumbing
Arrived same day when he said he would. Checked septic tank, rooted out drains, went under house and saw the drain pipe had sagged at one spot so water was having to drain uphill. Rehung pipe and tested. Explained everything to my wife as they were doing it. Very friendly, professional and affordable. Pointed out a potential problem with the drain line where it exits the house but thought it was ok unless the house settled more. They even added more screws to the septic tank inspection lids. They were here for about two hours. Excellent, quick, honest, affordable service. I will do business with them in the future and appreciated the warning about the potential future issue with an approximate cost to fix it if it did become a problem. Call these guys first.

AXpert Plumbing
Our well pump storage tank separated from the pump, having collapsed from the stand where it sat, and the pipes were all twisted and broken. We had no water in the house and I was given this man's name by a neighbor's handyman, who had been helpful in the past. I called him at approximately 7:30am. He was here within an hour, ran to town to get parts, and returned and had it all repaired and working by 10 am. Very attentive, very professional, very reasonable given the damage that had been done.

AW T Denton Mechanical Inc
Excellent.  Called on a Thursday evening and Garry was on my doorstep first thing the next morning.  First impression, very experienced and knowledgable.  He's ex-military and it shows.  Very up front, competent and professional.  He quickly diagnosed the source of the leaky tank which was an improper install by the previous plumber.  Moved over to the sink and removed a giant chunk of my roommate's hair (to my dismay).  Three bottles of Drain-o hadn't fixed this; but, Garry tackled t in about 2 minutes.  Then he returned to the toilet to address the flushing problem.  Diagnosed it as likely low water flow.  Changed the flapper valve and the toilet was off and running with no issues.  Highly recommend!

DValverde Energy
This long and sad saga has to do with the pre-purchase inspection of a home where Valverde Energy had (two years prior) installed a solar hot water supplement to the hydronic in-floor heating system of the house.  At our house showing all the plumbing associated with the solar add-ons appeared neat, tidy, and well constructed.  The heating bills we were shown tended to support the quality of the installation and the efficiency of the design.  With nothing else to go on, I would have rated them "A".  However, after the house was under contract we paid for a pre-purchase inspection to attempt to uncover any hidden issues.  Boy, are we glad we did! | |Our inspector found that the collector loop expansion tank on the roof had no air in the pre-charge air bladder.  When he came down to check the floor loop expansion tank he found not only no air in the bladder, but water coming out of the pre-charge air valve.  On top of that, the act of checking for air, plus the water weight of being full, caused the expansion tank to come loose from the wall bracket and hang from the plastic pipe connecting it to the floor loop system.  Understandably, this concerned the sellers and they contacted Valverde Energy to come repair the system. | |This is where my view of Valverde Energy began to change.  The sellers were clearly non-technical - having purchased the solar system for tax credits and utility savings - and they relied completely on the pronouncements of Valverde.  And the owner of Valverde told them that our inspector had depressurized the collector loop while checking for a tank pre-charge and that that had led to the floor loop tank filling up, increasing in weight and breaking loose from its moorings on the wall.  He then did some work, declared all to be working perfectly, and left them with a bill for $159.35.  He also called our house inspector and dressed him down for 30 or 40 minutes - alternating between his own qualifications as a solar installer and our inspector's deficiencies in his field. | |Needless to say, we did not purchase that house!  There were far too many questions about what was really going on with the solar system.  The sellers were angry about not selling the house and getting a repair bill.  While they did agree to return our earnest money they were insistent that we, or our inspector, reimburse them for the "repair bill" from Valverde. | |Over the course of a month I corresponded back and forth with them about why I did not believe that the inspection caused any damage, but only uncovered a pre-existing condition.  They would always forward my email to Valverde and then pass on the response to me.  The responses never contained technical details of how the inspection caused the damage, but they did include denials of tone and content of the phone call described to me by our home inspector. | |The bottom line for us was: 1) This was a closed loop system with no liquid connection between the collector and floor loops (confirmed by Valverde), and so no pressure drop in the collector loop should have affected the fluid in the floor loop, 2) codes and inspection standards require that tank brackets be strong enough to hold even a completely full expansion tank (also confirmed by Valverde), 3) water escaping from the air valve on the floor loop expansion tank indicates a cracked air bladder that should be replaced (Valverde never replaced the tank, but declared all well after rehanging the tank). | |There are always two side to any dispute, but the lack of specificity regarding how the inspection caused the problems Valverde felt compelled to repair makes me leery of ever using them for any work.  In fairness, the soldering and pipe routing that I saw looked to be good quality, and so I did not give the lowest rating I could have.
