Recent Review: My wife and I put off remodeling the kitchen for years partly because we didn’t want to deal with the inconvenience of living without a kitchen for a long period and partly because we couldn’t find a contractor that we were confident with. We had heard so many horror stories from friends and neighbors about long delays and inferior work. That all changed when we went to Monks’ Design Center in Morristown and met Design consultant Marien Ronan. She came out to our house several times and created a few different floor plans. Marien helped us pick tile and cabinets, light fixtures, paint colors, and gave suggestions on appliances. She was always available whenever we needed her and was never upset with all the changes we made to the original plan. Project Manager, Bill Buckner, and his staff were equally as tremendous. Bill provided me with a plan and timetable and kept to it. They actually finished the project a day or two early. All of the craftsmen that did work in the house, whether they were painters, or floor tile installers, electricians, plumbers, demolition, were professional and personable. All the work was done with as little mess and inconvenience to us as possible. Whatever issues we may have had, they were few and minor, were immediately resolved. Every bit of their work met or excided our expectations. I not only would use Monks again but plan on doing so in the very near future. I wholeheartedly recommend Monks with no reservations.

Recent Review: My wife and I had been saving for a long time of these two projects.  We really liked the fact that we were able to find a company that is a one stop shop.  Their expertise and professionalism is unmatched.  Dan Falato was a pleasure to work with and he really made sure we were informed during the process and happy with the work.  We could not be happier with the final product!

Recent Review: We bought a 1954 built house which was not renovated in the past 25 years. Jim planned the renovation from updating plumbing, remodeling a half bath to full bath and completely renovated the other full bath. Kitchen was also renovated . The carpets were removed and the hardwood floors were finished. Quality two pane windows and new doors were put in and the interior was painted with colors of our choice. Existing kitchen was completely gutted and renovated. Kitchen renovation included updating plumbing and electric, installing ceramic tiles on floors and good quality cabinets and granite countertop was installed. Remodeling included adding electric oven and dishwasher. Also recessed lights, under cabinet lighting and backsplash was added.  Jim's experience really made a difference with the advice that he gave on remodeling that now our kitchen looks classy and timeless. After half bath was remodeled to full bath, it is more spacious and looks beautiful. Both bathrooms were completely gutted and new drywall and tiles were installed. New bath tub, toilet, medicine cabinet, exhaust fan and recessed lights were installed. With decorative ribbon entire bathroom looks beautiful. Jim only used quality materials during the entire project and his team is knowledgeable in handling all types of tasks which you would face when renovating an old house. They worked really hard to finish all the work on time for us to be able to move in before our apartment lease got over. Jim also took care of all the permits and we had no issues getting approvals for all the work done. After we moved in there were some minor things that needed attention and Jim took care of that too. After all the work was done, the amount paid was the same as the estimate provided at the beginning. We are happy to have Jim take care of our home remodeling.

Recent Review: We only have outstanding things to say about the Better Basement Company. Joe Bacarella and his team designed, built, and completed our home improvement/remodeling project. They managed the project from start to finish in the most professional manner. They oversaw all aspects of the project, including time management, budget, and safety. They also managed each critical subcontractor. They were efficient, their work was superb (and we are perfectionists), and, most of all, they were gentlemen that were truly trustworthy. Our young children were in the house with them during the day, and they took extra care to look out for their safety and to make the project fun for them. They are the nicest guys who go the extra mile to make sure the customer is happy. They are artists with their tilework. They are able to envision an empty space and truly listen to what you want. It’s as if you’re getting an architect, kitchen designer, bathroom designer, engineer, and interior decorator all in one. If you find a picture on the internet and give it to them, they can replicate it. They are true masters of their craft and compose themselves with the utmost integrity, honesty, and respect. They defy every stereotype you hear about remodeling construction companies. We love our home, and it’s because of their dedication and hard work that we have only good memories of the construction.

Recent Review: I can't stress this enough without crossing the border into hyperbole: the Basic basement Company handled our project absolutely perfectly in every way. Okay, so there was one small detail: when the sink was installed, they forgot to bring a catch basin (that thing that goes in the drain). That was literally the ONLY thing that didn't go exactly as planned, budgeted and scheduled. We needed our entire kitchen redone, from the floor to the cabinets, and Dominick came to do the design. He listened to what we were looking for, gave us a bunch of great choices, worked with us on the small details (trim, etc) and gave us good advice on what works in our space, even when it might mean a lower total quote. We were thinking of doing cabinets all the way to the ceiling (we hated our soffet so much), for example, but Dominck suggested a slightly shorter cabinet that allowed for the use of real crown molding instead of quarter round, and it makes a gigantic difference. Unlike a lot of the other places who came in, he gave us a price on the spot. He sent us a final design the same day (without us having to sign a contract to even look at it, as one place wanted us to do), we made a couple of small changes. We also had some options on the pricing, which I really appreciated (mainly doing the demolition ourselves). Once we decided on a price, that price never wavered (you hear a lot of stories about how contractors discover new things to charge for along the way, there was absolutely none of that!).  As far as timeliness is concerned, we were given a hard-dated timeline at the beginning of the project, and BBC hit every single date right on the money. They'd give you their service window, so say something like between 8 and 10 AM, and invariably they were there at 8:30. They used several different crews between flooring and cabinets and counter tops (standard for this sort of work), all of which were completely professional, worked clean, respected our space. They were always done when they said they'd be, and at every step we were just wowed by the results. They completely redid our kitchen in a total of five working days in the course of three weeks (350 square foot kitchen and entry way). The longest part was waiting for the granite, which took only two weeks. Our old house, we went through a similar project with Home Depot contractors, and it took a month! There are few renovation projects as stressful and inconvenient as doing a kitchen, let's face it. The one factor that really, really set this place apart for us was their responsiveness, which is really the only comfort under the circumstance (again, using Home Depot I actually had to write a letter to their regional manager to get someone to tell us what was going on with our granite). Gail, our project manager, responded to several emails from us within hours, not days, and she was absolutely there when we needed something answered or had even little questions. It's a huge difference maker: we never felt like we were project # LU864234; they treated us like we were their only job. Just a tremendous experience.  When they were done, the kitchen looked so good that I'd find my wife just standing in it admiring it for a few days. We can't recommend Basic Basement highly enough, and we plan to use them for future renovations. The only downside I could see with this place is they don't offer an in-house finance plan, but we're savers, so for us this was a non-factor. They collect in three installments, the last one only upon job completion and meeting with you to make sure you're happy. To put it simply, USE THIS PLACE.

Recent Review: We met with bill in late January to only do some price comparisons for a two bathroom project. I really liked how Bill Hancock was able to do the virtual construction tour because it was accurate, informative, and actually helped us decide on the exact setup we wanted. When we finally met with Bill, which was always on late or weird hours at our request, he wasn't a pushy salesman, but very knowledgeable and understanding as to what we wanted and what would make the most sense in our rooms. He even showed us some additional discounts to the order through manufacturer sales and payment options that were a great help. The only bad thing about the experience is when checking us out, even though the entire order sheet had our specified stain on it, one section didn't and the manufacturer sent the wrong cabinets. This delayed our project by about 3 weeks!  Regardless, we'll be talking to Bill again when we renovate our kitchen in about a year
