Recent Review: I am not sure why someone would give a company an F for not responding. touchy, touchy. My experience with American Stairs was good - their professionalism was the high point, and they were punctual and efficient. The job was rather simple but they went slightly above and beyond and got an additional part to reinforce without charging me. That was a nice touch, even though it was a small part. I've already recommended them to others in the area.

Recent Review: Alpine just installed hardwood in my staircase and entire upstairs & also new handrails and railings.... Not only does it look fabulous (and the price was very competitive), the process was completely smooth! The Alpine team provided a schedule for me and executed as planned - seriously the best experience I've had with any contractor! ...so amazing that we've hired them to install new carpeting in our basement! Highly recommend.

Started with a $4500 estimate and went up to $8500 without notifying us. Never mentioned that the estimate was going up, just gave me the bill towards the end of the job. Had a hard time understanding what I wanted. Workers hardly spoke english and never came at the time they stated. They would also just leave the job without telling us they were leaving. Work was not quality work. Did not put the end post on railing and had to have them come back and re do it. They cracked the marble floor around the base of stairs and then tried hiding it with a base board. They left sanding marks and patches on the visible part of the stairs. The veneers on the bottom stairs peeled and bubbled after a month of installation, had to have them come back and do them again. They did a sloppy job of gluing them on again.

ABryan's Handyman & Home Improvement Service
I purchased the drop down stairs from Lowes and contacted Bryan to install them. Bryan and his guys did a great job in both the removal of the old stairs and the installation of the new one. Without asking, they took the old stairs and the new box with them and cleaned up my garage. Very professionally done!

ANew York Carpentry
Flavio was excellent! He listens to the homeowners requests and handles them professionally. My wife and I would definitely hire him again. In a house there is always work to be done. It is hard to find professional labor to do tasks around the house without an agrument. Thanks.

He was quick to respond to our request. I sent him all of the information about the stairs and he said he could do it and give me a rate of $400. He was punctual and got to work right away but it was apparent that he was "winging it" with putting the stairs together. After almost 8 hours he finished and then said he was $100 an hour. When I questioned him about the change in price he said he didn't realize it was going to take him this long. After a little negotiating he took off $100 and then started complaining about how he didn't have lunch. (We never agreed to feed him!) The stairs are sturdy however there is one step that is at the top and should be at the bottom. It's a minor detail but if he had paid a little more attention to the directions (or actually knew how to put these particular stairs together) it was easily discernible. As I said the stairs are in and sturdy but he was quite disruptive and the worst thing was that he smelled as if he hadn't showered in weeks! We had to go out and get candles. It was seriously offensive! He did the job but it was the most unbearable 8 hours with him.

AMarty Anderson & Associates, Inc.
The stairs were detaching from the wall considerably. Marty Anderson's company seemed to have the most solid expertise. They arrived promptly to give me an estimate, took the time to patiently explain the necessary repairs in detail, and gave me a detailed written quote. They rebuilt 5 steps and restored them using as much of the original materials as possible. Prompt, friendly, reasonably-priced, and even went the extra mile to put back the carpet runner that was on the stairs (which other companies did not offer to do) and did a great job overall.

AA Step Above Stairbuilders LLC
It went well. They were professional, courteous, punctual and cleaned up after themselves. Most important, they did a great job. They left me with a staircase that is structurally stronger than the one I had.

AA GA-Stairs & Railing & Carpentry
GA-stairs and Railing is an excellent company. Mr. Heraldo Slater and his workers were very professional as well as punctual. The work that was done was phenomenal. I expected the work to take at least two weeks or more, because other contractors were telling me the length of time. In all actuality it only took a week. I am impressed with the work and will hire GA-Stairs and Railing to renovate my patio this spring. If anyone is looking for precision, puncuality, dedication, professionalsim, and price friendly work, I highly recommend Mr.Slater and his crew.

ABetter By Butler Inc
Charlie responded to my phone call promptly, though you won't get a secretary answering ''Better by Butler'' but rather Just Charlie saying ''hello''. He measured, gave us a quote, and a date and time of installation. On the set date, he called to cancel due to another project running long but gave us a convenient date and time days later. He was a little late in arriving but it was well worth it. The removal of the existing stairs was more difficult than expected (when you own a home, isn't that ALWAYS the case?) and the new metal stairs came with directions that required a rocket science degree. After quite a few hours, they were finally complete. Better By Butler was meticulous in the installation and the cleanup, staying until everything was perfect. We didn't even have to vacuum! And, despite the installation being much more difficult then anticipated and taking a long time, the bill remained the same as his original estimate. Classy.
