Recent Review: They were fantastic. I initially called in desperation for somebody to weed the garden for us, because I couldn't tell the weeds from the plants. The woman on the phone, the owner's wife I believe, suggested instead we have Ted, their master gardener, come out first for a consultation(costing a lot less money). Ted spent nearly 1.5 hours with us, walked all around the garden and the house, educating us on the different plants and what to do with the garden and even our lawn care. He seemed very knowledgeable. I would definitely use them again for any of our lawn care/garden needs.

Recent Review: We hired garden state landscape out of Waldwick to install a patio in our yard this spring. The work was excellent and the job was completed very fast. This company was so easy to work with that we had them do an outdoor kitchen and some drainage work for us. We plan on using them for all our landscape needs.

Recent Review: The men arrived promptly at 10 am as promised and went straight to work - Each of them performing a task like a well oiled machine.  Inside of an hour they cleaned up all the left over leaves and debris and quickly got rid of that "dull winter look." Afterwards, they fertilized the entire property, trees and grass, trimmed some hedges and packed it all up.  I am tremendously impressed with the quality and professionalism displayed by the company and its employees.  Randy is a gentleman and a true pleasure to work with.  I highly recommend Gardens in Bloom and specifically Randy to anyone in need of excellent landscaping and lawn service.

Recent Review: I cannot say enough how fantastic it was to work with Deirdre, she is a master gardener and really truly knows her stuff.  She took the time to truly listen to us and help me and my husband not just dream up our perfect garden, but made it happen too, making sure that we got exactly the look we were looking for at a great.  I still cannot believe the transition, from a big brown moss covered yard to a bucolic romantic landscape full of birds, bumble bees and butterflies, my garden looked incredible and was the envy of my neighbors and friends. I cannot wait to have Deirdre back this year (we're planting a small orchard) and cannot recommend her highly enough.

FURBAN GREEN CITY GARDENS
I called and left a message. They did not call back, so I called again and spoke with Tony. I told him I needed landscaping work done at my house, and gave him the address. I had been advised to check the credentials of the people I used by my friend, who is a master gardener. When I asked Tony what credentials he had, he became rude and flustered, and refused to answer my question except to say that he had lots of clients. He said that he would give me some references, but then said he was too busy to do that. I then tried to make an appointment, and even though I had previously given him my address, when I told him where I lived (Ditmas Park area of Brooklyn), he said they didn't go to that part of Brooklyn. He said they only served Brooklyn Heights and downtown Manhattan. That should be indicated on his Angie's List page, since it says "Brooklyn and Manhattan". I don't think someone should be offended when you ask what training they have to perform the services you're hiring them for, but Tony clearly was.

CNATURE'S CRADLE NURSERY & FARM STAND
I had an area of approximately 30 ft by 12 ft which sorely needed landscaping, including the removal of existing plants. I wanted an attractive area with low to no maintenance, and with bloom from April through October. I also wanted to use our collection of rocks and rock sculpture. And I wanted a unique look within those parameters. Based on rave reviews from neighbors and local and quot;Master Gardeners,and quot; in March 2011, I contacted Nature's Cradle and explained that I needed both design and implementation, though I had many ideas of my own. He said he could send someone over for a consultation, who would subsequently do a design, and the charge was $85, applicable to my order. What followed over the course of the next few months was an ongoing dance of miscommunication and misunderstanding between the nursery's garden designer and myself. I kept asking for a design (where will the plants go? how will they be arranged?, etc) and I kept getting descriptions and photos of plants culled from trade publications and the Internet. There were numerous tense moments as we tried to communicate and I tried to get a design on paper from the designer who could only say, and quot;Well, you certainly can't expect a design on paper for only $85!!??and quot; I finally sat down with my computer and the White Flower Farm catalog and prettty much came up with a design of my own, and plants of my own selection (I did consult with the designer to be sure these plants would fit and do well in our area). I have to give the designer credit for the suggestion of a small blooming flowering tree, and some plants with winter interest. and quot;Implementation Dayand quot; was another tense event. I was given notice the afternoon of the the day before that they would and quot;be there tomorrow.and quot; Imp Day was hot, humid!, wet and miserable and that may have accounted for the tension and the blowout, and the unpleasantness. The end result has been fine, with only about 3 of 20plus plants not making it through the winter. They were guaranteed, of course, but I just didn't need the aggravation. My neighbor, perhaps, has the best review of NC: and quot;If you know exactly what you want and how you want it, they're great. If you don't care at all about what plants go in your space and the final look, they're also great. It's the middle ground where you're going to have problems.and quot;

ALANDSCAPES BY DESIGN
The work went smoothly.  Fitting in the planting with the varying weather conditions gave us some time to see how the plants were developing.  We wanted a vegetable garden but found out we needed to raise it because of the hard soil.  Once the size was determined, the work went fine and they designed a rustic look for a fence to protect it from the native animals.  We unfortunately found a groundhog that provided problems but even then, the landscaper came up with a solution of a net over the garden area that seems to have foiled the animals. We had not envisioned that the lawn would be chewed up by equipment moving materials around but that was quickly rectified by some soil and grass seed that sprouted in a couple to weeks to hide the tracks of the equipment.  When the work was close to completion on a particular day, the crew would pitch in a work a couple of hours overtime to get the job done so that we were not inconvenienced with another days construction.  Each part of the work was reviewed after it was completed and revisions made if a better solution was found to create an improved landscape. Overall, the job was a symbiosis of our desire and their extensive capabilities.  Our initial estimates from 2 other landscapers had turned us off from starting the project. They wanted a small fortune and had provided estimates that has 1/3 of the price each assigned to plants, hardscape and planting.  We were happy and eager to do as much of the planting as we could to get the green thumbs to work.  The result is a landscape that we enjoy living with.  Neighbors complement us on what has been done.  We realize that the work still has stages to be done.  We will add lighting and some other touches in the future. Satisfied?  Extremely.  In fact, probably overwhelmed with the success to date of what has taken place;.
