Recent Review: Bill Hefner Plumbing was recommended to me by my Realtor.  I had discovered a leak on the garage floor and ceiling.  It was a slow leak from the supply lines to the bathtub fixtures.  Home was built in 1989.  The hardware was original.  To get to the hardware, the plumbers had to cut through the knee wall separating the shower and tub.  They removed the hardware and capped the copper lines.  I then had a large hole in my shower, rendering it useless.  Not their fault but the fault of the installers should have placed the the hardware on the accessible front framed wall of the tub.  Nevertheless, it was an eye-opener.  The home builder installed tile over plain wall board.  That's a no-no.  Inspectors were useless.  In the meantime, I ordered new hardware for the plumbers to install.  They installed it and replaced the copper piping with plastic tubing.  I got a bill for $542 a few weeks later.  Great, not only was this an easy job, they killed me on the price.  Moreover, I now had a major problem on my hands.  Try to patch a bad job or do things right.  I did things right and had to redo the entire bathroom; the right way.  Unfortunately, that was a nightmare in and of itself.  Do not use South Charlotte Remodeling, Inc. (Michael Cook).  He'll never show up on time or when promised, doesn't have reliable transportation, will not finish when promised and has a bad attitude.  In any event, although Bill Hefner plumbing did a good job, the price was seemingly too high.  Good work at a high price.

Recent Review: We were remodeling our second bathroom. While I can take care of minor plumbing issues, putting a new bathtup in is beyond my skills. We called 3 different plumbers to get an idea of time and cost. One never showed, the other showed up 5 hours late and never returned our estimate. All about the pipes showed up on time for the estimate, gave us a couple of ideas of what to do, and told us to go to a plumbing showroom to get an idea of what we wanted. They would take care of ordering, picking up the tub and the new hardware, and install. We had pulled out a one piece shower/bath combo, and the new bathtub was bigger than the old. They made all of the necessary changes to the fittings to get the tub in. They also did a fantastic job ensuring that the new pipe fittings were water tight and ready to go. A couple of weeks later, after we had completed the tiling, I was putting the last hardware items on the tub. I had problems trying to screw the spout onto the new pipe. I did some research, and found that a different pipe assembly was installed, not the one that supposedly came in the box. We called All About the Pipes about the pipe assembly. They told us that they installed what was in the box. But, what they did was take the extra step. They contacted the plumbing show room, got the proper pipe fitting, came back, removed the wrong one, and installed the proper one.

AARMER CORP.
I contacted Adam's office staff via email to schedule repairs to be made at our rental home based on his excellent Angie's List reviews.  They were prompt and courteous, as was his service to the tenant.  Our tenant is a young professional and has always given us feedback on any folks that we've had do work in the home.  She found Adam to be prompt, professional, trustworthy, and complete.  I found his responsiveness, price, and ability to solve the problem to be on target.  I also appreciated the fact that he was able and willing to let me know what services were performed by phone.  His office staff were friendly and prompt with getting me the invoice.  We have since called them back for additional work.  Unfortunately, it was work that they don't do.  However, they referred us to a company with whom they have worked it the past -- who completed the job promptly and at a fair price.  I would MOST DEFINITELY call Adam again!

Everything went well.  The installer did create a leak in the wall by mistake, but he returned promptly to correct the issue.  The tub still works fine and looks great.

The tub is beautiful and the installer did a wonderful job. He was professional, unobtrusive and his work was really nice. The cost was high. The tub is basically an off white, kind of a pale gray color with some white trim, but the colors of white did not match each other. The hand rail in the tub enclosure rusted after it had been used once or twice. They came when I called and caulked around the ends of that. It has not happened again, but I was really shocked. I was very happy, partly, but I think for the price I paid the colors of the white trim should all have been the same color. I complained to them about that and of course they did not come and replace the whole thing, but I would call that poor quality control on the trim work. I was not entirely pleased for almost a $5,000 shower enclosure. I would not have purchased that if I had known the colors were not going to go together. I was kind of annoyed. Someone just called me back about my complaint, but all they did was apologize.

FCharlotte Plumbing Masters
I got a ridiculously high price and when I said I would not proceed, I got an email back saying I should have a valve installed because my water pressure is high (I also called and talked to them about this). Without my permission, knowledge, or presence, these people were on my property and took pictures of my water meter—which I am fully aware can be manipulated—and gave me a quote of over $600 to fix!!! Ummm, I did not ask them anything about looking at my water pressure, and I had just had a home inspection and there were no issues with the water pressure! How dare these people come on my property and do anything without my knowledge, presence or authorization and then tell me I need to spend over $600 to fix it because I risk future costly repairs??!!! I asked them to give me a quote for fixtures and dishwasher installation!! I would venture to say my meter was manipulated and this was a ploy to get money from me! I will file a complaint! I would say this company is NOT reputable, is unprofessional, untrustworthy, and unethical, and I strongly urge people to NOT use them!

The repairman arrived on time and listened as I described problems which required repair. He explained the actions he would be taking to correct the problems. The repairman also answered questions that I had related to other possible repairs. After repairs were completed, the repairman demonstrated how to use the new bath tub spout and the new shower head. Areas were cleaned up after installations in the bathroom and in the kitchen. The repairman was professional at all times and was well-mannered. I will definitely use McCoy Plumbing for future needs and refer others to McCoy for repair work.

ABearden's Plumbing Services
I cannot give Brian a better review or recommendation. He was on-time, professional and friendly throughout the entire process. His rates came in a little less than the other two quotes I received but I mainly chose him because he didn't seem like a used car salesman like the other 2 guys I had out here. He worked hard and stayed late until the project was complete -- even making an extra 45 minute trip to Lowe's to buy parts that were less than $2.00. He really wanted to do the job right and earn my business for future projects. In addition to the work we had agreed upon, he discovered an old, cracked pipe underneath the house that another plumber had left no more than a month earlier. The bad pipe was big and the two cracks were huge and very obvious to the eye -- the first plumber had been working in that exact area the month before so it was clear that he didn't care enough to even tell me. Since this bad pipe was a return pipe (a pipe that only takes water away from the house as opposed to a pipe that brings water in to the house), I would have never known there was a bad pipe underneath the house unless I had crawled under there myself and discovered all the standing water in the crawlspace -- which of course is terrible for your foundation and can lead to structural issues over time. Brian told me about it and replaced it without asking for any extra money to do so. I have decided to mail him a tip for his honesty and for the integrity in his work. You don't have to look any further for a great plumber -- call him!
