Recent Review: We worked with John Spivey to troubleshoot the drainage problem.  John helped us find the problem and then worked with us to develop a solution.  Next we had a problem with our fountain.  Again he was very helpful in helping us trouble shoot the problem and find a solution.  In this case it was a faulty pump.  Gardens of the Carolinas removed the pump, tested it, certified that it was faulty, and returned it for a warranty replacement.  They then reinstalled the pump and it is working great.

Recent Review: They were supposed to start April 4th with the first phase of the project to remove debris. We gave them the first part of the payment and then they delayed for one week. They only planted 151 perennials, 166 shrubs, and they did plant all 16 ornamental trees. As of June 11th they walked off the job without it being complete. Some of the plants were planted incorrectly. They planted plants that were not conducive to the environment that they were planted in. The plants are dying because of being planted in non amended soil and too much sunlight. One area they were suppose to plant they never even touched and it is to late to do anything with that area. They would blame their tardiness and lack of work on us because they were not able to purchase the plants due to the time of year. They would not provide an email address to contact them to give other options on the plants. We had to hire a master gardener to give an evaluation on the plants since this. The plants have gotten a fungus due to the way they were planted. Although they were knowledgeable about plants they lacked in knowing how to care and treat them.

Shannon is a Master Gardener and is quite knowledgable about all things to do with landscaping. She did some hard-scaping and plant installation. Everything was completed in a timely manner. She went above and beyond our expectations.

We couldn't have asked for a better job. Many landscape companies (and one which we got a bid from first) come up with quick fixes and poorly thought out plans that essentially amount to a "Band-Aid" of plants over the earth that will wash away or fail to thrive in the coming seasons. Gardens of the Carolinas assessed the elevations and sunlight patterns, removed trees where necessary, dug drainage ditches and buried pipes, relocated dirt and built retaining walls, utilized their talented landscape architect to devise a beautiful plan, arranged for all subcontractors (irrigation, electrical, plumbing, painting), erected new fencing, laid pavers, and left us with 100% usable space. We have raised vegetable beds and gorgeous perennials, and our kids have natural-appearing stone stairways to run down to get to the new turf field. The yard is irrigated and artfully illuminated. The crew kept their word about timing and even worked weekends to get the job done! None of the workers stand around or waste time--they are all diligent and polite. We and our kids loved having them around. To top if off, the best pressure washer we've ever seen left our house, driveway, screen porch, deck and even our garage floor spotless! Thank you John Spivey and Gardens of the Carolinas for another job well done!!!

Our project also entailed redoing a small courtyard at the back of our house. The demolition part of this work included removing the old courtyard patio and steps and clearing out the old plants. Many of those plants have been temporarily relocated and will find permanent homes by the time our project is completed. Installation of the new courtyard involved paver patio installation, new plantings, lighting, and installing a soaker system. They also handled the carpentry work on a Japanese style pergola that forms the entry to our wonderful new courtyard. All in all we are extremely pleased that we chose Gardens of the Carolinas to undertake our landscaping project and we recommend them enthusiastically to anyone considering their own project.
