Recent Review: When I called MasterTech and talked with the office manager I briefly described our problem and told her this was going to be a difficult job since it required crawling around in our hot attic and replacing a gas line down the wall into the fireplace.  She said "Ok, I will send out one of our Master Technicians".  MasterTech sent Chad.  Chad was extremely nice, knowledgeable and he did a wonderful job. He initially came out to my house to view the problem and then we discussed what different steps we could take to try and fix the issue.  He gave me a estimated quote. I will have to say the price was more than other quotes I had received.  However, after Chad & I discussed the problem I knew right away he had experience with gas lines and knew how to fix it properly.  I am willing to pay more for great work!   Chad called the MasterTech office for me and scheduled the appointment to come back out to fix our gas line. I will definietly use MasterTech again.  Thank you Chad.

Recent Review: Rough in was Ok. Plumber forgot that we wanted a water softener. One of our faucets outside is soft water due to this error. Plumber said we should have a continuous loop for hot water. I repeatedly asked on the price, he said it would be minimal. It was $200. Plumber charged extra for hot water heater line and gas fireplace line. These items were identified in the bid and the we also reduced the requirement by having onefurnance and not two and not having a washer dryer on another floor. No credit given for the reductions. Had a LP gas leak when we moved in. Son had headaches and bloody noses. Had a major flood due to faucet in the shower put on but no quality control to assure it was operating correctly. Plumber charged very high price if he had to come back even though he lives just down the road. Job was not completed as specified, plumber did not reimburse us for damages caused by his failure to properly inspect appliances due to installation. Plumber did not service hot water heater after it was installed and not functioning properly. He required us to work with the manufacturer and said he had nothing to do with them after install. Overall, charged very high for any change, did not stand behind work, and no credit for less work being done

Recent Review: My job was completed in a professional manner at the cost that was quoted. Glen's work is some of the best that I have seen as far as quality and finished look. The work took right around the amount of hours that he quoted me for, however there were a few occasions where Glen had to start later in the day at my home, and often he worked into the evening. I would also note that he mentioned that would happen before we sealed the deal on the project. Glen is very sociable and never minds answering questions about the work he is doing or just chit chatting. It is nice having a contractor who can bring you into the loop on how or why they are doing what they are doing. Glen was honest and fair and my wife and I would recommend his work to anyone.

Cancelled twice the third time. Didn't come. I called and was told they would be up to 2 hours late.

Because MasterTech charges for their estimates, they appear to have a side business going where they will come out for an estimate, collect their fee, and then provide an outrageous estimate to ensure they don't have to do the work. They ensure they will get calls by allowing you to apply the price of the estimate to the job. But then make sure that never happens. We had three estimates for a job, and only MasterTech charged us for the estimate. The three estimates were $650, $850, and $2500. Guess where MasterTech is on that list?

It did not go well. We had never smelled leaking propane so we were unaware of the smell. Shortly after installation, and for nearly a year and a half after Wallace installed lines outside and inside for our propane gas heating stoves and emergency generator, we intermittently smelled what we thought was a dead animal smell. We live in the country, so that was not totally unexpected, but we could never find the source of the smell. Inside, a horrible smell would occur especially when it was damp. So we bought a dehumidifier that helped somewhat, but the smell continued. Then , when our generator maintenance man came out, he told us we had a gas leak and should call the gas company and plumber as soon as possible. I called Wallace twice and told the man answering we were experiencing an issue with our gas, and he said they would call back. Never did. When the gas company came out they discovered gas leaks both inside and outside and recommended a different plumber. Who we called and who came out that day. It cost over $500 to repair faulty pipe and valves both inside and out. After reinspection by the gas company all was good to go. No more dead smell! Meanwhile, apparently we lost hundreds of dollars in gas. This winter, in spite of the cold, we have used only a fraction of the gas as compared to the past winter season. More importantly was the safety issue. Additionally, the two new toilets installed by Wallace never flushed correctly. We had that fixed when the plumber was out working the gas issue. I would never recommend this plumber. Had we been smarter, we would have taken issue with them in the first month or so after their expensive work was completed. Lesson learned, but a tough one indeed.

FVersatile Contracting Glen Gross
I hired Glen to replace my 30 year old propane HVAC system with a new gas one. I paid him $3800 to get started. I have a two story house with two systems and expressed my wish for the new system to work better than the old in eliminating uncomfortable spots in the house. We discussed different options and he concluded that the second floor would need to be served by a furnace and AC unit in the attic. I had requested high efficiency equipment and was not told of any problems regarding the installation of this type of system in an unheated space. He and his helper got to work and worked about a week. (Oh, yeah, the very first night they quit and left and when I went downstairs to the furnace room I found the vent to the water heater had been left disconnected. I called him and he came back and reconnected it for the night). Anyway, like I said, they worked about a week and then stopped. I waited and waited and they did not come back. Finally he told me that he did not have the credentials to get it inspected by the city and that he usually got another guy who did to pull the permits and get the inspections done but that guy was refusing to do it. He said he was trying to find someone else to do this. It finally came down to me having to hire someone else to either finish his work or tear it out and start over. Glen agreed that this was necessary. I got some more bids and hired another company. All those companies that looked at the job said he had sold me a cheapo system but worse than that they said that by installing it in the unheated attic not only would I have to crawl up there to change filters (I am in my 50?s and not the most agile person) the unit had a condensation line that would freeze up there! In addition to all of this the other companies pointed out that he had disconnected the vent for the water heater ?cause it was in the way? and left the job with it in that state. I could have been killed as this was right above my bedroom! I decided to start over with a new company and have Glen tear his work out and refund my money. He came and got the equipment and agreed to repay me. He said the other companies had made those statements about his work because they were competitors. We set up a repayment system where he would give me $400 a week till paid off. He gave me $875 total and then quit paying me. After many attempts to get him to pay I went to Small Claims Court where he failed to show up. It was settled in my favor that he is to pay me $3000 plus court costs plus 9% interest in addition to the $875 he paid me. I have had to bear the cost of repairing the holes he cut in my ceiling and walls. The last time I ran into him (it?s a fairly small town) he acted like he was angry with me and seemed to feel it was my fault that all of the above happened!

Overall., very well. The plumber was a little grumpy at first (I think the tank full of wet sand may have had something to do with that) but after a little while, some conversation and my checking on how he was doing things got better. I was really glad to find out that he detected the clogged hot water gravity recirculating line and cleaned that out..
