Recent Review: Connecting a new heat pump and coil to a 10 year old furnace requires some sophisticated adjustments. Tom Timmerman performed a near perfect job doing the installation and a couple of follow-up adjustments. The heat pump defrost cycles have been infrequent, 2 or 3 during a 24 hr day when the temp was between 20 and 32 degrees. The gas furnace comes on nicely during the defrost cycle. The heat pump sets right out side our bedroom window and it is significantly quiet during heating, cooling, and defrost events. We couldn't ask for a better central air situation. And most important, we have complete confidence in Tom Timmerman's honesty and professionalism. We have been enjoying the system for almost a year. Looking back, I wouldn't do anything differently. Heat Pumps have saved us a ton of money during the past 30 years or so.

Our heating was not working. They came over inspected the furnace and the outdoor heat pump. They inspected our thermostat and discovered it was wired incorrectly. They rewinds it correctly for us and made sure the heating was working properly afterwards

I could hear the heat pump air conditioner attempting to start repeatedly and failing, so called the company to make an appointment. They diagnosed the problem over the phone and scheduled a visit in the late afternoon of the same day. They called before coming by to let me know their exact arrival time and showed up on time, as promised. The technician confirmed the phone diagnosis, replaced the part on the spot and billed about $85 for the part, labor and service call. The unit has run perfectly ever since. I have used them before to check both of our home's furnaces/heat pump and their service has always been prompt, efficient and on-time. They always take time to explain what the problem is and what is required to fix it.

AChapman Heating and Cooling
Chapman came exactly when they said they would and, performed the work of moving the unit as they said they would.  My only concern was the cost of the move.  The price was about 30% higher than other local contractors that we had contacted.  However, Chapman performed the initialize installation of our heat pump system and we wanted to maintain the integrity of their guarantee.  For that reason we paid the higher cost.  Additionally, they were very professional and their technician was very courteous as well.  Sometimes, it is probably worth it to pay a little more money.  I believe that was the case here.  We would certainly recommend Chapman to friends (possibly with the small warning that they might cost a little more than others).

They did the entire project in less than a day and a half. Performed an extensive energy audit and worked with the utility providers to qualify for energy rebates. Completed manufacturers warranty registration on-line. Were professional, pleasant, explained system settings and options, and have been very responsive when called with questions.

AALL SEASON HEATING & COOLING
The can on time and stuck with the job until it was done. It took 2 days being a new install, even helped me remove a window air condition unit. They explained what the unit did and how it operated. From start to finish they stayed with the job until it was completed. Put in a new thermostat, heatsensors and did the duct work to get the inside coil to fit the furnace.

BChapman Heating and Cooling
We had Chapman install a brand new Trane heat pump and blower system to replace our 30-year-old unit. The old unit still functioned, but was living on borrowed time and tax incentives favored replacing. After an initial very positive interaction with the sales end of Chapman, and some comparison shopping, we agreed to have them replace the unit. Overall, the work was completed, and the initial install went fairly smoothly and in a timely fashion. However, during the install, some ductwork was altered and new vents installed in a way that actually decreased airflow to some rooms. Once the unit was in, it was fairly difficult to get Chapman back to fix their own issues.  The sales rep would come by, be very professional and courteous, get everything seemingly set up, and then....nothing.  It took nearly a year for everything to be resolved to our satisfaction.   This is not to say we didn't have functional heating and cooling. But overall this was a process that was more trouble than it needed to be. In addition, we had some additional concerns in the airflow system of the house (not anything related to Chapman's work) that we would like to have addressed.  They were not interested in helping out with this.  That's certainly their prerogative, and they were straightforward in this regard.  But I was hoping for a more complete experience.   Once our brand new energy efficient system was finally up and running, we saw a substantial INCREASE in our power bills and power consumption. This is over the course of 2 years, so not a small sample size. I had not expected this, and the sales rep certainly stated that we would see much better efficiency than a 30 year old unit.  So how did the energy bills go up 20-30%? Chapman did spend some effort reconfiguring the thermostat and such...and some improvement was obtained. But for our substantial expense in getting a new unit, we are saving little money, despite what we were told during the sales aspect. Overall, Chapman strikes me as a completely competent operation, and I have no major complaints. But if you are looking for a company that will patiently work with you and design the best possible solution based on the quirks of your particular situation, this may not be the company for you.  But to be clear, the work was done, what they did is functioning, and we were always treated well by everyone involved.  While I don't see this as a company that goes above and beyond, this is a solid company that does a high volume business, and I have no serious complaints. But we may be looking around elsewhere if we have any further needs in heating and cooling.
