Recent Review: Shortly after becoming a first time home buyer, I found myself having to contend with my first homeowner issue in the form of a kitchen sink leak...which was slow, insidious, and likely going on for some time as the whole cabinet unit and 5 layer kitchen floor needed to be ripped out and replaced. It was a process that would have been a lot more stressful had it not been for Austin and Ryan (aka Royal Contracting). They are patient, honest, and do very good work. They helped me navigate the world of insurance and kitchen restoration, they were great communicators, and clear on what was being done. And again - most importantly - they do excellent work. My new cabinets and wood floors are high quality and look fantastic! I will most certainly use them again for my home improvement needs and projects. I highly recommend them!!

Recent Review: The guys were great.  They were on time.  They answered my questions. They volunteered to do a couple  of things that are a part of what they normally do with an Angies list referral.  I  declined as we'd just moved and already have plumbers working on a master bathroom remodel.

Recent Review: Armstrong Kitchens is a wonderful group to work with and we heartily recommend them for your kitchen remodeling project. They are a family owned business serving the Kansas City area for over 30 years. Kristeen, the owner, is an absolute joy to work with and will "bend over backwards" to bring your ideas to life. Vicki is a certified kitchen designer who listens to your ideas and desires and works tirelessly to come up with innovative and creative ideas that all work together to make the finished product truly something special. Their crew of craftsmen are polite, courteous, pleasant, and very skilled at what they do. Many have been working with Armstrong for over 30 years! The project included cabinet refinishing, custom cabinet construction, quartz counters, LED lighting, new combo wall oven, new cooktop, vented hood, and new quartz sink. They took care of all the scheduling and coordination. All we had to do was choose from the many options they offered us. We couldn't be happier with the finished product as it ended up looking better than we had hoped when we started the project! If you are looking to update your kitchen you can do no better than Armstrong Kitchens. This was, by far, our most enjoyable experience with a home remodeler.

Recent Review: I often write way too much when creating reviews, so with that in mind, I want to give a summary upfront. Brandon came in and cleaned up the mess we left from attempting to remodel our bathroom ourselves. He was able to use the tub we already bought and was willing to work around some specific requests we had. Ultimately, Brandon, Shane, Chris, and others on this crew were terrific. The work is beautiful, seems sturdy, and is almost entirely faultless. KC Renovations Concepts does many things, and I can safely recommend their bathroom remodel without reservation. The long review: We initially called Brandon out after removing our old whirlpool tub, and we wanted a quote for what it would take to do the installation of our new tub, and possibly the whole bathroom. We also contacted another contractor through Home Despot, and Brandon was very competitive in comparison. We were not ready to take the plunge into hiring a professional crew, assuming we could do much of the work ourselves while contracting out a few jobs. A year later, and no significant progress later, we again called Brandon out to clean up our mess. He was professional about the long delay after the initial quote he sent, and we nev00er felt judged for our work or for not hiring help sooner. Once the work started, Brandon and his crew were respectful of our home and our time. During the demolition phase, Brandon and his team found some issues leftover from our house’s construction. Brandon communicated these issues with us and let us know this would delay the project and increase costs. He also explained just how important these issues were to fix for the longevity of our bathroom and home. Shortly after getting the bathroom structurally sound, it was Shane’s turn to start laying the heated floor and tile. Shane’s herringbone on our floor is stunning, and it took a lot of time and skill to lay the floor. This beautiful result required being flexible with Shane on timing. However, a little flexibility netted a fantastic finished product. We also listened to Shane on a few design pieces, such as using a single grout color. Thanks to the collaboration, we ended up with a tile design that is stunning, warm, and one of a kind. After Shane finished the tile work, Chris came in to do some final trim, doing things with the remnants of our old bathroom I could hardly believe. In fact, throughout the entire build, Chris did fantastic work with both the rough and finish carpentry. Both Chris and Shane take evident pride in their work, which shows through in the finished bathroom. Following our first use of our tub, I can find one area for growth for this project. The tub is demonstrating a lot of flex where it pulls away from the silicone sealant around the wall edges of the tub. That said, we bought the tub ourselves, and it was not one with whichBrandon was comfortable. When it was installed, I questioned not using any mortar or foam under the tub to support the weight between the feet. Brandon explained our tub comes with several feet, which when tacked in place are more than enough to support our weight. For my anxieties, though, I will be adding low-expansion foam using the bathtub full of water trick (holds the bottom of the tub in place and prevents the tub from rising. Again, I point out this is not a tub Brandon typically works with, and the instructions with it were terrible. So really, this is more of a reflection of Universal Tubs’ instructions – or lack thereof. The above critique is a relatively minor concern and not one that is likely to occur for most people. As such, I can still whole-heartedly recommend this crew for a bathroom remodel. Each person on the crew acts with professionalism and clearly enjoys their craft. In the age of YouTube, I think many of us believe we can take on majorprojects like this. Unfortunately, when it comes to most of the parts of a bathroom remodel, there is simply no substitute for experience. Just like you would never want an Uber driver fresh off a learner’s permit, you probably don’t want to watch a YouTube video then try to lay tile and install your plumbing. Brandon is not cheap, but he also isn’t ridiculously expensive. Get some bids, but if you want a crew that knows how to create a bathroom that is almost a work of art, look no further!

Recent Review: I'm very please with the services provided by Fusion. Since I've been doing part of the other (non-electrical) work myself, I was thrilled that they agreed to perform the work as needed over a few months and three separate trips. I never felt pressured to wrap up my work and they were quick to return when needed. I feel the estimate was priced fairly and they provided good value. I would highly recommend Fusion.

Reviews in Parkville to Remodel Master Bedroom

ADon Kelly Construction
I hired Don Kelly to remodel a master bedroom and bathroom. Don was above and beyond any contractor I’d hired in the past. He was on the job daily checking on completed work. Daily communication about schedules and materials kept me informed every step of the way. Don’s crews were extremely hard working, friendly and courteous, respectful and punctual. There was never a day of down time. The job was completed ahead of schedule. I will definitely hire Don for future projects!

AJericho Home Improvements LLC
Excellent! I continue to hire Jericho to renovate my older home. Why? Because I have never dealt with a finer company than Jericho Home Improvements. Their attention to detail and punctuality is unsurpassed. Jericho's bathroom installer was as meticulous as the kitchen installer they sent out earlier this year. Their bathroom design was awesome! Because I have an older home, I had little room for my master bath. They created a stunning tile and granite bathroom and paired it exceptionally with my master bedroom. For my Master, they tore out two bedrooms and made one larger bedroom. The existing rooms had hardwood floors underneath the old teal green carpeting. The floors were far from perfect, so Jericho had to splice in wood flooring to match up to the 50 year old flooring. Wow! It turned out beautifully. It looks like I have a brand new floor. Heck, my entire home looks brand new, thanks to Jericho. One would never guess it's nearly 50 years old. Thank you, Jericho! note: I am going to attempt to submit photos, please ignore the ladder in the bedroom pic. I don't have "before" pics for the Master bedroom and bath but, take my word for it, the rooms were tiny and very dated.

BEmpire Basement Solutions
In February of 2014 we interviewed 4 contractors for the first phase of a 2 part construction project. The first phase consisted of converting an existing bedroom into a new master bath and converting the existing master bath and adjacent small walk-in closet into a large walk in closet. We needed to remove 1 window in the master bedroom and replace the existing window in the new bathroom with a long high narrow window. We wanted to replace all the existing trim and doors. We would finish the floor and all the closet infrastructure ourselves. We chose Empire Basement Solutions to complete the project. We were assured that the project should take 8 weeks, 10 weeks at most. We were wanting to start the project the last week in march, however, it wasn't started until April 6. Instead of 8 to 10 weeks, the project took over 14 weeks to complete. We were very pleased with the final outcome of the project, the materials, the attention to detail. The subcontractors were all trustworthy and friendly and sensitive to our needs. Our Project manager was extremely knowledgable and cared very much about producing a quality product. He went above and beyond the requirements for us and helped us through some rough spots in the process. Our biggest negative comment would be the time line which was excessive! We also were not pleased with the bidding process as project costs were never given and we didn't know what our allowances were on several major items. We wanted to upgrade several items, but we never really knew what the actual costs were for the basic materials, so consequently, we never really knew where we stood on the budget. That said, our costs overruns were less than 5% of our total, which we were satisfied with.

AEric Gentry Home Remodeling
I' ve used Eric Gentry Home Remodeling for five separate remodeling projects: a complete remodel of my kitchen and bath, the creation of a front porch, updating a bedroom, and the expansion of my studio space by bumping out an existing bedroom. I have been thrilled with the creativity, craftsmanship and respect that Eric's team has brought to everything they've done. My home is in the Old Leawood Historic District, where attention to detail is written into the regulations of the Homes Association. Eric has a gift for creating spaces that look like they've always been there, and my neighbors have noticed. His company has done kitchen, bath and basement remodels for several other homes in my neighborhood. I've been impressed by Eric's uncompromising attention to detail: the most delightful and beautiful touches in my home were his suggestions. EGHR has tackled several projects in my home that others have told me were impossible. One of the smaller projects he did for me, creating a tiny front porch, was the most dramatic. Rather than creating a new face for the porch, which would have been the easiest and quickest way to proceed, he directed his carpenters to cut off the existing decorative gable, move it forward four feet, and support the new structure with a post that he hand-finished to look exactly like the old wood. My brand new porch looks as if it's always been there, because the face of the house remains unchanged. I would not be tackling my current project, the expansion of my studio space, with another remodeler. Because of the specific requirements of the room, and the unusual construction techniques involved, EGHR had to do an extensive amount of research before work could even begin. Eric has been very discriminating about the craftspeople he's brought in on the job and great about communicating with me. His bids, proposals and change policies are easily understood, he's always accessible when I have questions, and he's very clear about letting me know what is going to happen each day. The best professional compliment one can give is repeat business, so it's obvious I'm happy with Eric Gentry Home Remodeling. I can recommend them without reservation.

ADesign Connection, Inc.
Last year, we found Design Connection, Inc. on Houzz; we updated the master bedroom and bathroom with Arlene. She has proven to be not only a talented professional; she is an expert in every aspect of interior design. Her attention to detail, her extensive knowledge of products and her ability to envision the final design from the very beginning blew us away. We cannot wait until next year when we plan for Arlene to renovate the kitchen in our Kansas City home. 5 Stars!

FHELP AROUND THE HOUSE
What was to be a 2-3 week project turned into a six week ordeal. Was never here every day all day. Always came up with a personal excuse why he wouldn't be here. Problems with him getting to supply materials that were already paid for in advance (big mistake). Frequent requests for more money. Workmanship was substandard, i.e. alignment of fixtures in half-bath, mis-measuring of the wall tub surround which still ended up in mis-alignment. Trim and fixtures not installed properly. Hole left in wall. Plumbing fixtures not secured properly.

AMr Remodeler
The process was long, with some delays, but all in all the work was well done; the supervisor at our house was marvelous. Thoughtful, looked out for us as he oversaw the work and the subcontractors. Regularly met with our sales person, Bob, throughout the work. Overall estimate process was fairly accurate considering the extent of the work, both cost and timing. The remodeled areas are lovely, and we get tons of compliments on how nice everything looks. We have used the company several times over the years, and will continue to recommend them.
