Recent Review: The company didn't contact me about setting up the appointment for a couple weeks. In fact, I had to email to get it set up two weeks later. They claimed there was something wrong with the server between Angie's List and them. Aside from that, I was very pleased with the foundation / waterproofing analysis I received.  The company, Commercial Piering Systems LLC sent out a guy (subcontractor I presume) to do that actual inspection. His name is  Bradley A. Huxol from Residential Engineering Services, LLC. He was great. Didn't seem to be selling me on anything, I felt he was giving me a straight up opinion on what we should do--he educated me along the way.  This guy also talked to me about egress windows, mud-jacking our driveway slab, and potentially moving beams in the basement...basically he was willing to answer questions beyond the scope of the analysis and I greatly appreciated his temperament and patience.  He made a great impression on me, in turn we will strongly consider using CPS.

Recent Review: The person who came out was willing to come out to meet me at the house that I was purchasing, was very professional, all around nice guy, very knowledgeable, polite, overwhelming, and he explained to me what the issue was and how it can be resolved in a cost-effective manner. His estimate was relatively low. I will use them in the future.

Recent Review: My experience with this company went very well. The owner Josh Bultmann was great to work with regarding my project including foundation issues, and waterproofing the basement. His quote was very reasonable compared to the other two companies I received quotes. His knowledge, and eye for detail gave me the impression I wasn't just another job but a home if he had to do the same repairs at his house. The crew was superb with all foundation repairs, and waterproof application. Not only did they took time to answer my questions but went beyond the call of duty with any request I had for them to do during the job. Overall I loved the work in my basement provided by JLB, and would recommend them highly to anyone needing foundation repairs or waterproof solutions.

Recent Review: We had been dealing with water problems in our unfinished basement for quite a while. Also, one wall was buckling and 3 other walls had moved in about an inch or so. It was past time to solve these problems. I contacted Foudation 1. Dave Zwickel came and did an thorough evaluation. I was impressed with his knowledge an expertise. At his suggestion, I contacted a structural engineer (Keith Boyd) who verified that we needed an interior drainage system with sump pumps to discharge the water and that our walls required structural supports to prevent further movement. I contracted Foundation 1 to do the work. The crew arrived on schedule and went to work installing a DuraDry waterproofing drain system along 3 sides of the basement and 2 sump pumps with battery powered backups. They also installed 28 steel beam wall supports. They work hard and did a fantastic job. The foreman, Ken, and project manager, Tom McNerney, answered all my questions and addressed my concerns promptly. When the project was finished Tom and the owner, Curt Clinkinbeard, came and looked over everything to make sure I was satisfied. I appreciated that. My basement is now dry as a bone and I'm confident it will remain that way. We now have much more usable space in our home. I am very pleased with the expertise and professionalism of Foundation 1 and would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone who needs foundation and drainage work.

They forgot to put me on their schedule. After they were about 1/2 hour late showing, I called and they realized their error. They sent someone out as soon as they could but by then I had to go to work leaving the employee in my house by himself - not how I would usually do it. He was pleasant and apologetic. Once he arrived, he did the work quickly and professionally. He didn't have any of the warranty paperwork with him since he had been called last minute, but the office called quickly after he left to make arrangements to get it to me. The Crack Team quote was about the 1/3 of the price of the other quote I obtained. However, the other provider had suggested a more extensive solution that was more labor intensive and may - or may not - be a better fix - time will tell. The cracks were minor but my home is on the market and I wanted to anticipate anything an inspector might point out. The Crack Team has a lifetime, transferrable warranty - a positive to potential buyers. They charge $50 per foot of crack. Often you can get a $50 discount if your realator refers or you print a coupon from Angie's list. They were true to their quote/ estimate - no additional charges. I would use them again but have learned my lesson - if any service provider doesn't call me the day before the work is scheduled, I am calling myself to confirm.

At this moment I do not know if it is a success. I will know more as the rains come. I can address the issues that I found while dealing with the company. ..Once the contract is signed to do the work, additional work to prepare the basement for installation begin to come to light. For me it was the removal of my bathroom, addition of two electrical outlets. Added about $5,000 to final cost (done by companies I had to hire) ..Work date was about 2.5 months from signing of contract. No follow through except the week before to double check date of install. ..Initial crew showed up to do install and refused to the install because they did not have enough room to work. The Sales Rep. assured me I would not have to move all basement items out. (not true). Plus this crew stated that mud would be all over the place once they began to work..(not true). Second crew showed up for install after I removed and stored basement contents in the garage. Issues ...Crew members being asked to leave and left in order to work on in house projects in the middle of mine. ...Crew complaining about dealing with rock basement and plumbing and gas lines that were attached to wall. ...Basement floor was painted and in relatively good shape, after install it is chipped, scarred and will need to be cleaned and repainted.... and there is concrete stuck to the floor and dust on the plastic walls and odor that permeates the house of wet concrete, and plastic even a week later. ...Removed utility sink, did not reinstall and tried to leave it in the yard...and now it is broken...and I have no access to water in order to clean. Not the quality I was expecting but I want others to know what to ask about before getting involved in the basement waterproofing work done by this company. Like I said , I do not know if this waterproofing job was done correctly or will work, I only know the facts that I have listed above. (not true)

BThe Leaky Cellar
There were a few glitches.  They hit the water line (not their fault) and this had to be repaired and the water line blown out by a plumber.  This caused some delay as they did not have a plumber that they worked with and we had to wait for one to show up.  I also think they were over booked with foundation repair jobs and were spread a little thin.  The job was supposed to begin 5/10 and be completed that week.  It went on for an additional week.  Some suggestions that I would have for improved service would be to have a plumber on stand by to help them handle emeregencies and situations beyond their scope of capability and/or have a plan in place to handle unexpected circumstances.  It seemed that it was left up to the individual work team (2 men) who were handling the job.  There should have been a plan for contingencies.  Also, the reseeding of my lawn left something to be desired and still needs some work to bring it back but I can handle that.  I hired them for foundation work - not landscaping.  They did a good job of grading. That said - I would DEFINITELY HIRE THEM AGAIN and am considering it for another foundation wall in my house (if they would want to take it on haha).  I beleive they know their way around a foundation.  I think that part of the job was EXCELLENT. They did a great job replacing the section of the concrete they had to jackhammer.  You can't even tell it was redone.  I have had no water in my basement since they completed the work.  Also, their workman - Lance - advised me about getting my gas meter straightened.  (It had sunk down and was leaning sideways) I had no idea that the gas company would do that for free. Even though there were a few problems along the way, I felt that they really cared about the service they gave me and were concerned about me as their customer.  Looking back, all in all, they did a great job and I would hire them again and recommend them to others.

AGlenn Marsee & Son Foundation Repair Inc
Marsee and Son, Inc., were highly recommended by those in the know as well as on A's List.  We called them and two other companies for consultations and bids.  Marsee was a bit higher, but due to his knowledge, years in business, and superior recommendations by all asked, we went with Marsee and do not regret a moment of it.  They just completed the job, so their service is still fresh in my mind.  Bill Marsee was on-site a couple times each day of the week the process took place.  His staff members are incredibly hard workers, very polite, had spotless clean-up at the end of each day's work, and were just nice guys, to boot.   They were also very considerate.  I told them from literally within minutes of arriving the first day that my roses and landscaping are very important to me, so please, be careful of them!   No damage was done to any of the landscaping, which is pretty amazing, considering that they had to put down plywood sheets each day and roll a bobcat over them to get to the basement windows, all within inches, literally, of my rosebushes and other landscaping.  They did meticulous and careful work!  My neighbor even commented that she couldn't tell, at the end of each day, that we were having major work done.       I highly recommend Marsee and Son, Inc.  Their professionalism was worth every penny, and Jeff is a great supervisor.  A+.

AFoundation 1
Working with foundation 1 was a pleasant experience. They provided an excellent service, was conscious of my belongings and protected them with plastic, utilize sponges around their jack hammers to minimize dust, and were friendly. While they were here working i ended up adding two additional services at my request. The estimator was able to provide an estimate that day and we executed the change order on the spot. All work was completed to my satisfaction and they cleaned up after their work. Another pleasant surprise is the owner came out one day to check on the project and introduce himself. Many companies have forgotten the importance of being personable, but not Foundation 1. I will be recommending them to anyone in the Kansas City area.

CDry Basement Foundation Repair
Got an appointment for an estimate very quickly. Estimator was right on time, extremely professional, and explained things thoroughly and very understandably. The company's methods and materials all seemed very first class. I let him know I had to finish getting estimates and would provide a decision in a couple of weeks. It took a little longer than that, but I finished getting estimates and made my decision to go with this company, but I had one question about a possible change in the work, based on some information/comments I had received from another company's estimator. During this time, I received a letter and at least one postcard from the company, indicating they were eager for my business. Even though cost was higher than some of the other estimates, I decided to have this company do the work, because of the high quality of the materials and the design; I felt that the absolute guarantee offered was something I really did want. During the first week of September, I called and left a message specifically for the estimator that I had made my decision, but had a question and wanted to talk to him. After two weeks of not hearing back, I called and left another message. It's been about another two weeks and I still have not heard from anyone at the company. I guess they aren't that eager for my business after all.
