Reviews in Imperial to Build Carports

FCityCarport
Crooked car port company- I DO NOT recommend CityCarport Company if you are building a new carport. The owner John Meller is a scammer. We paid CityCarport to pull a permit. The city of St. Louis required specific carport plans that Meller did not want to provide for this property. He refuses to refund the $2,560 deposit and demands to keep $1,000 for trying to pull a permit and going out to the property. NO work was done. I would not recommend to anyone who does not want to get ripped off. We have filed complaints with the BBB and the Attorney General.

AAlan's Factory Outlet
I purchased the building from their on line store. About 3 weeks later they delivered the building and constructed in on site. The installers knew their job and did all the work in one day. The building looks good and I will use them again for a future carport.

ACardinal Door Inc
Excellent!! The initial person I spoke to on the phone was very polite and professional. I called seven other companies, this was the first to be able to do same day service, a technician was at our home within an hour of the call, the work was done quickly, the door was in better shape than before (additional minor adjustments were done to make the door more convenient and easier to use at no additional charge) the repairs. The technicians were very polite and professional.

I am very pleased with the garage that Classic Building built for us. They were very professional and great to work with throughout the project. Careful attention was paid to all design parameters and they were able to navigate a very cumbersome permitting and inspection process with our local municipality. Only high quality materials and construction methods were used, and the building is amazing. I would hire them again and recommend them to anyone who needs to build a new garage.

This is the second time that I have worked with Tom, and just as with my last project, he did a great job. I had several odd construction projects, including making a lean-to shed, re-roofing a generator building, and insulating and paneling another structure. He had previously done some interior trim work for me at the same location. Tom came up with detailed plans of the projects based on my descriptions, and worked very quickly. He communicated well with me throughout the process, and kept me continually updated on his progress. He is obviously a very experienced carpenter, and had no problem working with a wide variety on construction projects, from framing and roofing, to detailed and precise interior work. His prices were very reasonable, and he had a detailed and accurate estimate up front. Tom was also very prompt and reliable, and finished all the projects very efficiently. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled carpenter, and I certainly plan on using him again myself for any other carpentry or construction projects that I may have in the future.

FTUFF SHED INC - St. Louis
After 6 months of work towards building a Tuff Shed garage, our build was cancelled. Tuff Shed did not do their due diligence on evaluating the site before moving forward with our order. They were unable to build our 2 story garage even with bids, an order through Home Depot, drawings, permits, and a concrete foundation. We were one week away from the install date and we found out the order couldn't be executed based on the site. We have electrical lines running in the alley behind our soon to be garage (these had not changed since the project was bid). The electrical lines were preventing them from using equipment they had to install the 2nd story, so they had to stop the project. The sales person had looked at the lines and stated it would be fine, but they would be able to work around it. Unfortunately, he did not know what he was talking about and pushed the project through. After weeks of delays in each step of the project from the bid, engineering drawings, to the install we couldn't have our garage built. They embellished on the time frame of the project and told us it would only be 1 month. What a waste of 6 months of our lives. The only benefit was Home Depot refunded the whole project based on their incompetence, but we did lose out on the permit fee. I'm sure they are fine at building sheds, but please do not use them to build a garage.

Mark was the builder and the delivery driver. He was extremely nice and even gave my kids a lollipop. Mark was the man who sold us the building, he was there at the delivery to make sure everything went well.

ADOGWOOD BUILDERS
I live in Ashburn Farm, so had some serious restrictions (via the HOA) for building a shed. Dogwood was able to build the shed I wanted to my exact specifications. They worked with me to get to a price we both liked, and were able to come out and build it in a week.

AElizabeth L Panke, Architect
She is the one you look for to do anything, big or small. She has a good price, and good customer service. She is still working on it. She is providing a permit for me. It's very reasonable. I thought it was going to cost much more.

Recent Review: J-Pro came recommended highly by our architect. He had worked with them on upscale new home construction. The company is owned by three partners. These three men did the actual work. Every step of the process was cared for as if our property were their own. Mike Bocklage, was our initial contact and the experience from the initial meetings through completion was nothing but positive and refreshing. Mike was extremely responsive to every question and detail. From a lengthy bid process,to patience with our research and the questions that resulted in choosing flooring, lighting, electrical, etc. Every inquiry was responded to by telephone promptly and was always followed by a letter confirming our conversations, including any information we may have inquired about. Mike primarily handled the administration, procurring materials and outside pro's, permits and inspections. He also was involved in the drywall installation. The outside companies we needed for gutter installation, grading, and roofing were just as excellent as J-Pro. The two other partners were responsible for actual construction and they were skillful, confident but unassuming, thoughtful, just first rate. From the first day of surveying to the completion, there was never a lapse in the consistency of their attitudes, work ethic, responsibility, promptness, courtesy or skill. It was a most enjoyable experience. All three men of J-Pro projected an attitude of genuine pride in their work, and a genuine desire to meet all our expectations. They were always pleasant, smiling and good natured, despite those 105 temp days when it was unbearable to work. Each of them willingly took whatever time necessary and never seemed disgruntled at our myriad of questions. Mike came by early every morning to consult with the team, checking on materials they might need, or to noodle a particular building design nuance. Mike intervened directly with our lighting company source. He helped eliminate much of the legwork and research for us by involving himself. He made our decisions much easier. He offered pros-cons from his experience but was always open to other ideas, as did each of them. There were few interruptions in the work process. Those were beyond their control, such as a delay on delivery of a door, and then the flooring. Even then, I don't recall more than two days at any time when they weren't here early and on the job. A sliding patio door was removed and replaced with french doors. This necessitated contact with our alarm company.I was having trouble relating & explaining information between the alarm company & the builders. The men recognized my confusion and offered to take over. Which was very helpful and was appreciated very much. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they were not only skilled in their trade but that they took customer service very personally. It showed in the many extra courtesies consistently offered to us. One more example, if I may. Some of the siding needed to be removed from the house when the framing began, to be reinstalled. When we saw the siding after reinstallation it was a wonderful surprise. They had not only taken the time to repiece it so that there are now very few seams, but also they had replaced a few pieces in an unaffected location that had been damaged with cracks & holes over the years. Now the entire back wall exposed is just perfect. This courtesy was unsolicited and we are very thankful to them. The drywall, painting details, screening/frame installa- are meticulous, as is the Fiberon flooring. In 35 years home ownership this has been the most positive interaction and result of any professional experience. Many have been good, most horrific. J-Pro has raised the bar. They have redeemed our confidence that professionalism, good ethics and craftsmanship together can still be found. These are three good men, we could not be happier with the completed project. The next phase is a patio off the sunporch and bathroom remodel, we are calling J-Pro. I should also mention one of the unheard of qualities about dealing with J-Pro. At our first meeting after we had accepted the J-Pro proposal, Mike provided a remarkable option. He had itemized a few design features and offered the cost savings were we to modify. For instance, he showed us the cost savings for a standard ceiling as opposed to the coffered ceiling. We appreciated that. We chose to modify the ceiling but declined some others. This allowed us to upgrade elsewhere. We very much appreciated this extra step.
