Recent Review: Heard about Lifeshield from a web forum, emailed the sales rep as a referral and the referrer was able to get $150 while I got a free network camera.  The network camera's quality is average at best ... they've since changed the referral program so the new subscriber now gets $100 store credit. Anywho, after emailing the rep with questions and requirements, getting on the phone to do the credit check, I got a kit to try out delivered to me.  I installed the base unit and connected the telephone line and ethernet cable (to internet), associated the GSM unit for the backup cell service, and installed the door/window sensors and motion sensors.  After about a week, I noticed the GSM unit kept losing signal, I emailed tech support and told them about the issue, did some troubleshooting with them which didn't fix the issue, and a replacement GSM unit was send to me.  While that was happening, I noticed the broadband wasn't working ... turns out they had different starter kits: "Home Essentials Kit - Cell Ready" and a "Home Essentials Kit with Broadband" ... I was sent the wrong one.  They replaced that and everything has been fine since. A couple of notes: - I believe the sensor batteries are covered by Lifeshield for the length of the lease.  I had one die at the start of my contracted period, and they just sent a new battery after I emailed support.  The console will tell you which sensor has a dying battery. - I was without electricity for 5.5 days after Sandy hit.  The base and GSM units have backup batteries in them, so my system was still connected for 4 days.  I was on the phone with my friends checking my house 4 days after Sandy hit and I didn't know if the alarm was still working since I couldn't connect to it via the webpage nor app ... it was, about 30 seconds after they opened the basement door, the monitoring service called about the alarm!  So the base was able to keep functioning with the GSM unit!

Recent Review: Kelli was SUPER helpful in explaining their process.  They have NO contract, just a monthly fee that you pay, like your car insurance bill.  You HOPE you never need to use it, but IF you do.....then it is sure nice to have that coverage.  Also, there is NOT a $75.00 service call fee every time you need to have a repair person visit your home.  Just the usual monthly fee, which is based upon your choice of available plans and options that you select when you sign up.  Basically, you only pay for what you need and you are not double, or triple billed for services from an UNknowledgeable or UNskilled service technician at a time you can least afford it.  Their service plans are clearly explained on their web site ((( https://www.completeprotection.net/ ))), and they also CLEARLY explain their limits on replacements on their web site as well.  Keep in mind, they seem to be more REPAIR ORIENTED rather than for REPLACEMENTS and if your item is too old or unworthy of repair, they will pay only a small portion towards a replacement item.  The small amount they do pay towards the replacement if you need it, is listed on the web site.  This helps to keep their fees down as well ! ! !  Another nice feature is that they have a list of repair companies that they will give you, so you can call and schedule your own repair, once you have a Repair Authorization Number from CAP.  The repair companies they suggest are familiar with the CAP process, and will bill CAP directly for the work.  Now if you have a favorite service provider that you prefer to use, that is no problem.  If that provider is unfamiliar with billing CAP, you can pay the provider yourself and CAP reimburses you within 10 to 14 days from the time they receive your bill.  (((Just remember to get the Repair Authorization Number from CAP BEFORE having your work done.)))  Also nice, is if you have an older home, they don't seem to have all the exclusions we read about from the other companies.       We have a home in Henderson, Nevada that we plan to rent out this fall.  We want the tenants to have reliable and trustworthy service folks available to them if they need someone.  We have read the horror stories on Angie's List, for some of the other Home Warranty options out there and some of the service providers as well.  (((You know the ones......service provider is called and MAYBE shows up when expected, or maybe not.  MAYBE they fix the problem for the $75.00 service call fee, maybe not.  MAYBE the problem is fixed this week, next week, or maybe not at all.))) Also, even though our home is new, we want to limit our financial exposure for any HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Appliance problems.  We live out of state, but still want our tenants to get quality service when necessary.  For us anyway, the choice is clear.  Complete Appliance Repair.   Oh yeah, and Angie's List of course !! Reviews in Hermann for Installing Lightning Protection Systems

AMr. Electric of Southwest Missouri
We had quite a laundry list of things to be done. We didn't ask about the circuit box till later. Nathaniel arrived exactly on time. We were given a call earlier to let us know he was on his way. On arrival he out down a certain mat and wore booties over his shoes to protect our carpets. As he was required to be in and out quite a few times he had to take them off and out them back on frequently. We told him what we would like to have done and he entered everything on his iPad. He was able to give us a price for everything before he started work. After we agreed he began working. He was methodical and worked every steadily. Later in the day I was ask did any of our breakers ever tripped. Well, no they haven't. I'm not an electrician. It I know some basics and I should have long ago caught that the wrong size breakers were on the box in that they were for more amperage than the wiring was supposed to carry. The main breaker didn't have much life left as it was buzzing pretty good. We went ahead and had that all changed out too. This all took time. He arrived at 9 am and didn't get done until 9 pm. Nathaniel called another technician to help him do the circuit breaker box and the breakers. Somehow he took that rat's nest of wires and organized them in a neat and orderly manner with everything labeled properly. I'm convinced that a catastrophe was averted by catching the breakers. I've seen what can happen first hand so we are especially thankful for Nathaniel catching it. While the pricing seemed a bit high in the beginning it seems to me that we more than got our money's worth. We haven't had any problems since the service and we're very confident that we won't have any going forward with the work already completed. We have plans for more to be done in the near future. The date of the service is approximate it I think it's pretty close. I'm too lazy to look,up to receipt to be exact.

Brit has always done an amazing job. He always checks back to make sure we are happy with his work. There's nothing that Brit won't do for my family. In one of our bedrooms, we have a bunk bed up against two walls. It wasn't until AFTER we set the whole 700 pound bed up that we realized we blocked off a very important outlet and the extension cord plugged into it had fallen behind the whole structure. Brit crawled through a drawer cuddy, and was able to squeeze far enough back to reach the cord and relocate it. Being 7 months pregnant (at the time), I was so very grateful that Brit was willing to help us out.

We have an older home that had a variety of wiring.  I checked "Angie's List" and found several companies.  Larry from T Lane is the only company that would respond and give us an estimate.  Larry did a walk through, and a few days later Michael came by and did a second walk through to double check the information.  Larry came back with his bid, and told us he could start the next day and it would take 2-3 weeks to complete.  The first day, the crew arrived right at 8:00 a.m. and had almost the entire basement finished on the first day.  They kept us informed the entire time as to the plans for the next day, and what problems they found as they progressed through the house.  They did a good job of cleaning up each day, and protecting things that could not be moved.  Remolding is stressful, but these guys made it much easier.  When they were finished they took the time to show us what they had done, and why it had to be that way.  When the city inspector came through, he found no problems.  One big plus is they thought they would have to make a lot of holes to get the wiring done.  They only needed to cut 5 small places on the second floor.  They worked hard to make sure we didn't have a lot of patching to do after they left.  It took them a total of 10 days to get the job completed.  These guys are great!

When you call the service you should have a pretty complete idea of what you want done.  Doing so helps ensure that there is a proper amount of time allotted to complete the job.  I was called and told  Nathanael was on his way and he turned into my driveway soon after and on time.  The first thing he did was unroll a mat at the front door to clean his feet with and he also put on paper "booties" to protect my carpeting and floors.  Understand that he was taking the "booties" off and then putting them on again all day as he worked outside and inside on the jobs I needed completed.  Nathanael explained the pricing and what was/wasn't included.  I had the option of not having any portion of the work done to lessen the price, however, I was willing to pay the price for good work.  Some others doing reviews have thought the pricing high, and I admit I did too at the beginning. Since I wasn't at my best that day I left Nathanael to do the jobs as he saw fit.  At one point he even caught a small leak from a new roof I'd had put on.  He worked methodically and persistently at the jobs until he was finished.  Once the bathrooms were finished he moved to the outside cutoff box the electric company had installed for me.  It was there that the whole house surge protector was installed, as well as the connector for our generator.  Lastly it was time to remove the old circuit box and breakers replacing them with new equipment.  What looked like a Medusa's head of wires were quickly, efficiently and neatly connected to the breakers and the box with everything labeled as to what circuit it controlled.   As I mentioned previously, Nathanael noticed that the breakers were rated higher than the wire connected to them.  The main breaker was giving indications that it would soon fail as well.  That's why I had him replace the box and breakers.  The fact is that there was no way this situation would turn out well left the way it was.  The repairs he did potentially saved our home from a future fire and maybe even some lives.  Nathanael had another tech, Travis, come help him in the latter stages of the job.  After the work was all completed everything was completely cleaned up.  That they knew what they were doing was never questioned.  The level of professionalism and pride in the work they performed is seldom seen these days.  At the end of the work, I had no problem writing the check.  I have a few minor tasks to have done in the future and  this is unquestionably the service I will use.  We are genuinely happy that we had the opportunity to meet some terrific people.
