I purchased the Big Deal of 8 hours of work for $199 with Nick Wand. I emailed him, without a return response and then called him after 3-4 days. He called back after 2 days. We discussed on the phone what I was wanting a nursery painted with 3 colors and another bedroom painted. He said he could do that an actually a third bedroom in a 8 hour day. I asked if he wanted to see the location and he said no, unless the rooms are larger than normal it wasn't an issue. I asked how much he charged to paint if I wanted the other areas of my new house painted. He told me the charge was $125 per room depending on the size. I told him the living room was very large with large windows and a few doorways. He said that might be more, but that the $125 covers a 12 x 12 room with 8 foot ceilings. He said he could paint the other rooms the days following the first job that was already paid for. Nick told me he would call me the week before the job to schedule it once he knew what jobs he had lined up. I waited a week and still hadn't heard from him, so I called him to make arrangements and scheduled for Tuesday at 830. He was late, but called my mom (who was letting him in) promptly back and said he was sorry, he was on the phone and doesn't drive and talk at the same time. My mom asked him if he could do the ceiling in the nursery, and asked about the ceiling in the spare bedroom, he said it shouldn't be a problem that we had him for 8 hours to do whatever we wanted. It was decided to do the ceiling in the nursery, and paint the walls in the nursery and spare bedroom and indicated he thought he would get the master bedroom completed and the hallway started, so we went to get the paint. He did paint those areas (nursery: 1 ceiling coat, 2 coats of yellow on 2 1/2 walls, 1 coat green on 1 wall and 2 coats of blue on half of 1 wall) and completed 1 coat of the spare bedroom walls in the 8 hour day. He did get green paint on the ceiling and did say he would correct that the next day when he came back. At the end of the 8 hour day we discussed painting the rest of the house, it was at that point when we reviewed the rooms and the cost one more time that Nick said $150 per coat per room instead of $125 per room, never mentioning per coat prior. So an original quote of $550 for hallway, living room and kitchen went to a cost of $1100 for master bedroom, hallway and living room and that was only if it took 2 coats, which he couldn't ensure would only take 2 coats, it could take more coats, so the price would then increase. I discussed with Nick that is not what he had originally said to me nor my mom (who he worked with all day in the house talking about space and paint needed). We came to an agreement to just do the living room, hallway and master the next day for an agreed $1100. After looking at the nursery once it was dry there was poor blending of the cut in, and some of the walls showed inconsistent coverage. I called Nick that night and told him, I wasn't happy with the work and he changed the cost of the job. I asked him to complete the nursery as promised of fixing the ceiling, where he got paint on it and the spot behind the door that he only applied one coat to and we would call it services rendered. He returned the next day to fix the ceiling and take his tools. He made a mess of the ceiling paint in my garage and dripped paint on the painted garage floor and did not clean it up and then left without a word and did not complete the second coat behind the door as agreed. I would not call Nick or recommend him to anyone at this point. I have definitely learned how to ask about quoting the cost to paint rooms now to anyone else.
