Mid-America Pool Renovation, Inc
Business Description: We specialize in swimming pool renovation and restoration. Most of our clients with residential and commercial pools require a new pool interior with INTER-GLASS® or plaster resurfacing. Many request new waterline tile, coping, deck resurfacing, plumbing, water features or ADA updates. Others need structural crack repair. Due to the corrosive nature of swimming pool water, an old pool interior is typically what deteriorates first. We specialize in permanent pool interiors – we only offer products we can put a warranty on. We renovate swimming pools from Kansas City to Chicago to New York. You can view public pools resurfaced with our premium quality INTER-GLASS® composite interior from Colorado, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey and all states in between. Whatever your pool needs – a new interior, deck re-surfacing, new tile, new plumbing and circulation lines, ADA updates, play features, major structural repairs – we provide the expertise.

Little Giant Pool & Spa
Recent Review: Little Giant is awesome!  All employees were professional, courteous and great to have around the house.  The owner, Brad, is very knowledgeable, has been responsive to all questions and provides advice that is sound to all questions.  He is also very good about communicating when weather causes delays and nimble enough to change up the work so that his guys can keep going in spite of the weather.  We love our new pool and can't say enough good things about Little Giant.  Would definitely recommend and use again in the future.

Baker Pool Construction
Recent Review: The pool install was supposed be be done in 4-6 weeks, it was completed in 7 weeks. I think this was reasonable. My complaint lies with the communication or lack of it. Decisions were made by Blue Haven without confiring with me, but affected me. Then when I voiced to them that that is not how I wanted it, they said it would cost me to change it! The pool controller was installed in an inaccessible location. There was no fence when installed, but they missed that there would be a fence that would go around the area which was on the plans. Also, they decided to put a Travertine top on a Flagstone wall, which looked very out of place to me, then said if I wanted Travertine on the top of the wall, I would have to pay extra! I also repeatedly asked them to originally dig the hole farther away from the fence gate, which did not happen. They would not admit their mistake, so it cost me to move the fence back. After arguing with them, they paid half and we paid half. I tried to be very reasonable, but when it came to the controller, I told them, no, I would not pay for that to be moved, so they did. I just feel that better customer service was in order, but I don't know if anyone gives that anymore.

O'Brien Swimming Pool Service
Recent Review: Overall, it went well except they did not clean the bottom of the pool floor well enough before putting the liner down. We could feel debris under the liner after the install. The liner itself faded in one spot. O'Brien had the factory rep come out and look at it. The rep agreed to replace it and O'Brien is going to do the rip and install for no additional fee.

We were very pleased with our new pool installation. After meeting with many other contractors we couldn't be happier with our decision. Kevin was amazing to work with from start to finish- his craftsmanship, attention to detail and professionalism was exceptional. Even after the completion of our pool, Kevin was happily available to help with questions that would arise. Definitely a company that we would recommend to others!

They were great. Did everything in a very timely manner and helped with a lot of "new pool owner" questions. We will definitely use them in the spring to open the pool.

What a rip-off!  I called several companies for an estimate for a new pool safety cover, including The Pool Specialists, Inc. None of them mentioned any charge for a cost estimate, and if they would have. I would not have considered doing business with them.  A few weeks later, before I decided which company to go with, I got a bill in the mail from The Pool Specialists, Inc.  for $62 for "Service call - Measure pool for a safety cover quote.". I called and spoke to Kate, who said that, since I hadn't ordered from them yet, they billed me for the time to come out and measure the pool.  I asked why they didn't mention a charge when I asked for an estimate, and she said they don't mention it because they don't charge for the estimate if you purchased from them.  She claimed they called and gave me a verbal quote over the phone, which I do not remember receiving.  I told her that I never authorized any charge, I just wanted an estimate, and I did not intend to pay. She forwarded me to 'an office manager' Lynette, who was even more snotty than Kate, who basically told me the same thing, and added that, since they hadn't heard from me, they "just assumed" I wasn't going to order their cover.  After several minutes of arguing, she eventually said she would take the charge off my account.  I will definitely not buy the cover from them!

I left a review in October 2017 and this is a continuation. In my previous review I left, I mentioned this huge crack by the stairs that happened less than a week the concrete was laid. On top of that, we had 3 slabs on the pool deck that were sinking. My husband tried contacting them for 3 months to fix. Finally, we had to put in a review with the BBB to get a response. They came out to fix the crack by cutting it out and replacing it with pavers. As they were cutting the concrete, they took chunks of concrete out on the sides. JC stated he would be back to fix and never came back. The 3 sinking slabs were replaced by another company. When JC was at the house fixing the crack, he did not appreciate us contacting the BBB because it was brother that did the concrete work. I said "yes but you sub-contracted out, we signed the contract with you". Remind you, we signed the contract with JC and he was not out very often to over look the project. We are now having to get a new liner because when they pulled back the liner to replace the coping, they didn't vacuum the pool floor and left rocks and concrete bits on the floor. They didn't straighten the liner back out. This was left for my husband and I to do. Now the rocks have punctured holes in the liner and we are forced to get a new liner. Please note, our liner was only 2 years old. I will be reporting this to BBB as well. This company will blow smoke up your butt and they do not care about you. This was not a big project for them so they didn't care. I have had to pay an additional $6000 to get everything fixed because they didn't do a good job. DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!

FPool King Recreation
It is a local pool place here. I had a big problem with them. The pool itself was great, but we had an old pool and I paid to have that taken down and the new one put in. They were supposed to take the old one away and clean up the mess. They left a huge mess. I was not happy with them at all. I even called up to the manager and he actually came down. I took pictures of all the junk they left in our yard. They took stuff away, but they filled the back of their truck up. I had to run to the grocery store and they left before I got back. So, I came back and saw the junk all over the backyard. I asked my husband if they were coming back. My husband said he did not know and he gave them a check. The guy called my husband back and he was worried about cashing the check. My husband said that the check was made out to him and told him that there would not a problem cashing it. He asked if they were coming back to get the rest of the stuff and the guy said the truck was full. Not only did they haul it away, they were going to the metal part. He was going to cash in to get scrap metal. So, he was going to get money out of that too. So whatever he could not get, he left part of the old liner. He left pieces of Styrofoam all over the yard. It was a mess. I thought maybe he was going to pay for dumping it, but he does not. Pool King has a place up there that they bring it. He just did not want to come back and do it. I think we paid him a thousand-something dollars to tear down the old one. I completely drained it. I made it easy for him to take down. He fused the whole time. He was yelling at the other two guys that were working with him the whole time. He was not happy the whole time he was here. There were some roots underneath my old pool. I told them three times when we ordered the pool. I told them that there were some roots that has grown up and that has to be taken out. This guy was supposed to come out and check out the site before they even came to do it. Nobody ever came out to check the site. They showed up the day to put it in. He was mad about that too. He was not happy and neither was I. I went to the store the next day because they installed it on a Saturday and they are open on Sundays. I took my iPad and I had my pictures. The salesman was like well. I told him to look because they left a mess. The salesman we used was not there that day and they called him. I came back the next day when he was there with my iPad and my pictures. I told him to look and they left a mess. He said fine and that he would come and get it. So, he came out which was raining. I told him that maybe he should have come before it started raining. He picked up part of it. He did not get all of it. He was not happy about it. He had an attitude about it. I called the manager and he came down and looked at it. He did send some guys down because they did not even put the screws in some of the places and they took care of that. It was just not a pleasant experience. I was just furious. I am an easy person to please, but it was just totally unacceptable.

AMASON'S HOME IMPROVEMENT SERVICE
I called Larry and he responded very quickly. He looked at the project. He quoted an hourly price and began work within a couple of days. He prepared the area for the pool. This included leveling the area, clearing debris and removing the old pool. He set up the new pool and even started filling it for me. The pool was an above ground Intex pool. This included setting the metal frames, liner, pump and hosing.
