ACK Trim Pros
Ryan and Kara were extremely professional, prompt, organized, and performed exceptional quality work. They removed our original baseboard and casing quickly and installed the new trim tightly to the walls. In approximately two days, they completely updated the appearance of our home and cleaned up after themselves so that there was barely a smidge of sawdust anywhere. They were careful to protect our hardwood and tile floors as they worked. They answered all our questions throughout the project and communicated with us clearly about the schedule as they progressed. We are not wealthy, but CK Trim Pros made our place look like a million bucks!

FINTEGRITY HOME REPAIR
Jay bid and agreed to install a hot water heater and repair a small portion of drywall and trim behind the water heater. It was not my choice to use him, he was agreed upon as part of a house sale agreement. Since we were under time constraints I figured I'd give him a chance to earn my future business. I had to call him several times over the course of a month to get him to commit to a day and time to fix my issue. Jay showed up on the agreed upon day (Friday) and time and performed what I initially thought was a complete and good job. After finishing the agreed upon work, Jay stated that it ended up being a lot less work then when he initially bid the job and was really quite easy. I was happy to hear this as I thought he would charge less then what was bid. Fast forward to two days later (Sunday). I happened to walk by my water softener unit and water was flowing out of the top of the unit. After closer inspection, Jay had taken it upon himself to completely reconfigure the drainage system of the water softener without consulting me. Keep in mind, there was nothing wrong with the drainage system as it was set up and it worked without any issue. In order to stop the leaking I had to manually remove the water out of the water softener with a cup so it didn't flow onto the floor. I texted and called Jay to see if he could walk me through what the problem may be, he didn't reply. Once the water was removed from the softener I was able to find the problem. It was the drainage system that Jay had changed without permission. I was able to temporarily fix the problem after about 2.5 hours of manually dumping water from the softener into my wash machine to prevent it from going into the floor as the softener was cycling. On my final attempt to reach Jay, I let him know that I had diagnosed the problem. He finally replied to my text and it was agreed that he would come back and fix the drainage setup right away in the morning. Jay showed up at the agreed upon time and was very rude and defensive about what he had die. I asked him why he had changed the drainage set up without my permission. He said that he had taken it upon himself to change because he knew the buyers of the property would want it that way. (This was untrue as the buyers had agreed in writing to the fixes of the drywall, trim, and water heater replacement. The was no mention of the water softener). I told him again about how I had to spend 2.5 hours fixing something that he was not authorized to change. I asked him if he could help me out on the cost of the initial work. This seemed like a reasonable request since he had stated it was less work then he thought when he initially bid it and he had created a problem that was not previously there by performing an unauthorized change of the drainage setup. He immediate said "If you don't pay me the full amount, I'll put a mechanics lien on your property. That'll mess up your sale." I never said that I wasn't going to pay him, I just wanted him to understand the problems that his unauthorized changing of the drainage system had caused. Jay continued to make comments as he was working about mechanics liens, ripping the work out, and just leaving with out fixing his mistake. Jay changed the drainage system again but it's still not back to the original. When I came home from work after he had left the water softener was cycling. It was STILL leaking on the floor. I had to spend another hour sealing the drainage system so it wouldn't leak anymore. In short, he changed a fully functioning drainage system without my permission that caused a leak and made repairs outside of the pre-agreed bid. I had to complete the job because of his workmanship. I would not recommend Jay for any home repairs. He will not stand by his work and will become rude and threatening when questioned. This all because of something he did on his own without permission and outside of an agreed upon bid.

AAdom Kruger Woodworks
Found Mr. Kruger's web site on Google search, was impressed, and contacted him. He did an estimate of work to be done, returned later that week, and completed the work. Having come from a family of contractors and carpenters (who are usually too busy to ever complete a project for a family member, LOL!), I am probably pickier than most homeowners, but Mr. Kruger's work was flawless. He took the time to do the job right, and was very congenial to work with. I would recommend him for any type of trim or cabinet work.

In all of my encounters with Dustin, he was very professional, friendly, and easy to get hold of.  He was always punctual, showed up on time, and when he said he would.  When he was on the job, he was always working, and never loitered.  He finished on time, on budget, and was up front about what was necessary to do, and tried to save me money where he could.  He was very accommodating to my very curious daughter, and after he replaced the garage door, he was even kind enough to have the new knob rekeyed so I would not have to do it.  I also had a few baseboards that I needed to install from an unfinished personal project, and he did that for me at no charge.      When you hire Dustin, he is the person that will be on site doing the work, and so if you have any concerns or issues, he will be there to answer.  This was the first time I had to hire a contractor, and was nervous about it.  However, Dustin really did a great job, and in fact I have hired him to do some more work.  I would highly recommend him.

ADan Severson Builders
Dan was great to work with from start to finish. We started the project in April with the goal of having it completed in October. Dan was great at keeping in touch as we co-ordinated with a few other contractors (electrical, plumbing and HVAC) and helped up keep the project on task. One thing I would really like to commend Dan on was his ability to ask questions. Sometimes contractors just take a design and make assumptions, but Dan took the extra time, effort and interest to make sure that we were getting what we wanted. Dan and his employees were very professional, timely and punctual and left nothing to chance. I highly recommend contacting Dan for your construction projects. I know we're going to contact him again for our next project.

David did a superb job for a rock bottom price! His carpentry skills are top knotch and his understanding of remodeling process flows is excellent. He appreciates the details of matching stains, hardware and succeeded - very high satisfaction with David's work results! He also has a great can-do attitude, yet is willing to bring up possible problems and tradeoffs the homeowner needs to know.

Work incomplete, I will have to sue him for my merchandise back and money owed but can't garnish him because he is on government assistance. He is rude, abnoxious and a fraud.

CHAMLEN HOME IMPROVEMENT
We chose Hamlen Home Repair because Trevor Hamlen had just finished a small front porch on a nearby home. His truck advertised "Building, Remodeling, and Restoration Services" along with decks, floors, roofs, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and painting. Our 1915 home was in great need of either paint or siding. We chose paint to preserve the character of the house and because Trevor assured us that new paints on the market would hold for many years to come. We chose to go with the top one he recommended at $48/gallon for 15 gallons, making the paint alone $720. We did enjoy interacting with Trevor personally, but ultimately, we came to realize that he tended to either over promise what he could deliver or didn't hold the same standards for quality work that we did. The things that most disappointed us were that he spray painted rather than hand painted the house (we neither asked nor understood the difference at the time), he had promised that no paint would get on any of the windows and later we spent many hours scraping off a haze of paint, and he said that everything would be cleaned up and left in excellent shape, which it wasn't. We were more than willing to do whatever we could to help, including scraping (although we weren't very good at it) but we also found ourselvesncleaning up scraped paint, restacking old lumber, retaping plastic on windows, cleaning up nails, and in general, keeping things as organized as we would have liked them to be. This was very important because we have a business in the home and customers coming and going. Although the paint is of excellent quality and overall is standing up to the weather, we still have had some peeling in places where water had saturated the old boards and had not been treated properly before painting. We discovered this later when we hired a different painter to do the repairs. Lastly, the painting and rebuilding of the porch took much longer than we were told because of health issues in the Hamlen family. We were understanding of this but it seemed to happen on a more frequent basis than we would have anticipated. We shared our concerns with Trevor in writing at the end. He wrote back with genuine concern, which we appreciated. Perhaps the stumbling block in all this is that Trevor often said that he "strives for perfection" in his work. There is, of course, no one who can deliver this and no two people who have the same definition for it. More knowledge of fine old lumber--how to clean, prime, and carefully paint it--was what we NOW know that we needed

AHAMLEN HOME IMPROVEMENT
We first hired Trevor to replace some rotting boards on our house and paint the exterior of our house. As he was working, he noticed many more areas of rotting boards than we were originally aware of. He went over all of our options and helped guide us with his professional knowlege without swaying us with his personal tastes. He was very flexible with us and the timing of the project since it took us a while to make a final decision. The option we decided to go with was to have all of the original siding removed and replaced with new LP Smart Side wood composite siding. It's a good thing we went with that option because once the siding was off we found some water damage in the back of the house that Trevor needed to repair for us. He was very informative and helpful in this process, letting us know that it would be a good idea to have a gutter person look at this area to prevent any future damage as the gutters were installed improperly. We also realized that we needed to add new window flashing, also due to improper previous installation, and house wrap, which we asked him to do. Once the new siding was installed, Trevor painted the entire exterior of our house. He paid close attention to detail and was very thourough. He even made a great suggestion of a faux wood paint for our front door and garage door. We are very pleased with the new look of our home. It's like a whole new house! Trevor was always prompt and cleaned up any mess that was made. I never noticed any stray nails or paint. He needed to trim a tree to get to the house to paint and he even cleaned up the brush! He also helped us install new exterior light fixtures and door knobs/locks. I feel like he went out of his way to make our house look great! I would definitely use Hamlen Home Improvement for future jobs. In fact we will be having Trevor replace our roof this summer.
