Recent Review: Kurt and Chris did a super job. When I called Kurt the first time, his message suggested texting him our info. which I did. He responded within a couple of hours and set up appointment the next day at which he arrived promptly. Newday bid was higher than but another but we appreciated the fact that as owner, he did all the work with his partner Chris. The estimating process was exceedingly thorough. Excellent communicators both. We had planned to go on vacation while the painting was going on (3 weeks) and noted that other reviewers had trusted Newday without issues. This was a big plus. I think we had at least three meetings over a week to draft a comprehensive and detailed scope of work contract and color / finish selection. Kurt kept us apprised of the progress by text and phone. When we arrived home, the job was complete and beautifully done. The house was clean. Drop cloths covered the furniture to protect from dust. A difficult ceiling repair was done so well it was impossible to see any sign of the previous water damage. There were two issues. 1) My wife was unhappy with her color selection in hall and stairway. 2) The paint in the man cave proved defective. The day after we got home (labor Day) Kurt called to see how we liked the job. We explained the issues and made an appointment with them for the next day. After discussion, we elected to have them repaint the hall and stairway in a different color at our expense. Newday agreed to re-prep and then repaint the basement using a different paint at no charge. We expected that this would be done over the next week or two but they insisted on starting the next day. By the end of the week, both issues were corrected. The charge for repainting the stairway and hall was minimal. We are very satisfied customers. We will use Newday again and highly recommend them to others.
Recent Review: Another service provider that I got from Angie's List is Steve Buchanan Painting & Decorating LLC for painting, dry wall and wallpaper. He was very good. He takes everything and did not leave a mess. He did quite a bit of work. He did family room, entry way for hallways. He patched things downstairs like holes in the wall and holes in the ceiling. He didn't waste. He gave us a discount for using Angie's List. I thought that his pricing was reasonable for the work done. I thought that he did a nice job. He came, he worked, he finished and it was a good job. He was right on for punctuality. He was very professional. I would use their services in the future.
Recent Review: Very impressive company and will be my new go to with electrical and home updates. Installed two new bathroom fans and did great work. Small mishap with the lower bath fan ceiling but they have been very responsive on fixing it. The techs have been great. I would highly recommend!

Scott and his sons removed popcorn ceilings, made needed repairs and completed knock down ceilings in our kitchen and dining room. Very happy with the end result! Clean up provided by Scott and his team was great!

It went very well. They gave a careful estimate, showed up on time, did excellent work, and were friendly and generally a delight to work with. They were also very good at cleaning up when they left each day and at the end of the job. They took less time to complete the work than we anticipated.

Terrible. They didn't know how to run the machine to re-texture the ceiling. The texture is inconsistent, there are cracks, the paint is streaky.

Came to house for free estimate, and worked hard to fit me into schedule as we were preparing house to sell soon. He was honest about what he could and could not do. When we realized the ceiling was worse than thought at first, he was honest and did not charge me, even though he had been to our home twice. I liked the idea of a flat rate per-hour fee for doing our to-do list. Would hire again.

He arrived on-time. Handled patching of the wall pretty quickly. The ceiling had bowed from the water leakage, plus covered with popcorn. He re-secured the ceiling to the joists, painted and patched as needed. The difficulty was dealing with a popcorn ceiling and trying to make the repair blend in. That was a difficult task and not 100% successful, but certainly much improved over the staining and sagging of the ceiling board.

Jay and his partner did a great job. The ceiling stain-blocking, re-popcorning, and repainting blended extremely well with the rest of the ceiling. He also touched up an area in the upper level of the house. The toilet installation went well and he provided recommendations for future work in the bathroom when the time comes. I appreciated Jay providing a detailed proposal of the job which included service cost for me to react to and provided an estimated time when he would be able to complete the job.

FHIRE A HUSBAND HANDYMAN SERVICE
This review was incorrectly posted under another handyman service. (Gerald) Mr. Granger at Hire a Husband is the one who did not respond to my inquiries regarding what I could purchase in advance of his coming. He was a half hour late and then had to run to Home Depot to get materials, some of which I could have had on hand. He misrepresented himself by not having the extruder and other equipment needed to do popcorn ceilings. I would have learned that if he had told me to buy the spray on product before he came. I checked on him after a long time, and he was still on the first project and spraying on the popcorn paint (which did not match) and slowly poking at it with a paint brush to try to match the popcorn texture. I paid him for his time, but had him leave so I could get someone else to finish the rest of the job correctly.

Chris White did an excellent job. We had a badly damaged popcorn ceiling in our townhouse bathroom. Chris skimmed the ceiling, applied texture and painted the ceiling. He was quick, professional, courteous, punctual and thoroughly professional, and offered his services at a very fair price. He cleaned and removed everything and took all the debris with him at no extra charge. We would definitely hire Chris again.

He was one-half hour late. In two emails I had asked what materials I could provide for his work. He never responded to that. After arriving late, he asked whether there was a Menards nearby. He was gone for about another half hour. The hole in the bathroom had black mold, which is generally removed. He did not remove the mold, her sprayed over it with a silicon substance. The bathroom could have been done in half an hour. I had specifically told him that I needed a popcorn ceiling and he said he could do that. He did not have a popcorn machine for that purpose. He said that he had had one but there were always mechanical issues When I went into the bathroom to check, he had sprayed a popcorn, canned material and, because that never matches a popcorn ceiling, he was using a paint brush to create a popcorn similar to the ceiling. He worked so slowly that the other three patched were not completed though he was here for over the three three hours purchased. I told him that I would hire someone with the correct equipment to finish the work.
