A K2 Bath Deck & Kitchen
We had K2 remodel our Master Bathroom. The designer Stephen had great ideas. The project turned out better than we could have expected. The crews were amazing. We would definitely hire them again.

We converted two bedrooms and a bath into a master suite.  We got two estimates on the project.   Steve Dahl was considerably less than our other bid.  Granted, he did not have all the bells and whistles we had with the other quote, but he got our attention.   We knew people who used Steve on their project so we had an idea of the quality of his work so we decided to go with him.   Steve was very easy to work with from the plans through construction.   Anything we wanted to change was no problem.   Steve did all of the framing, and was kind enough to hep with another project we decided to tackle beside the one he bid for us.  Even when not on site the whole day, he did stop by to make sure his crews were performing.  Most of Steve's subs were great!  He completed the project on time and on budget.   At the end of the project, we were billed for some of the extras.   However, he did not charge us for many of the changes we made during the course of the project.   Overall, we were very pleased and would use Steve again in the future.

Mike Austin came over to our house and we went over the project.  Seemed ok and he said he will get back to us in a week with a proposal.  Got back to us about a month later and we already had another contractor lined up.

Inspiration Design does a great job designing, quoting and completing our projects. Their staff and craftsmen are superb. Punctual, timely and very respectful of our home. I would have no qualms about hiring them again. The kitchen was refaceed and granite and tile added. The bathroom was gutted down to the studs, plumbing moved, and footprint completely redesigned.

Fabulous as always!  We have had Mike and his crew do extensive remodeling on our home.  They have replaced our windows, moldings, interior doors, remodeled our laundry room, replaced all closet bi-fold doors, added windows in the master bedroom where there weren't any, installed wainscot in the master bedroom, installed a huge window above our front door where there wasn't a window,  remodeled our downstairs bathroom and more.  I am a perfectionist, and if you expect perfection Austin Remodeling is the Company for you.  Mike is in touch with his crew several times daily during the work process either in person or on his cell.  Mike's suggestions and advice are always welcomed.

THE PROJECT (REDESIGN OF MASTER BEDROOM SPACE TO CREATE A 3/4 BATH IN A 50-SQ. FT. AREA) TOOK LONGER THAN WE EXPECTED, AS IS OFTEN THE CASE WITH REMODELING JOBS. ALSO, OUR CONTRACT SPECIFIED THE INSTALLATION OF A VANITY IN THE BATHROOM, BUT THEY FORGOT TO INSTALL ONE, LEAVING US TO PUT UP A FLAT MIRROR ON OUR OWN. FOR THE PRICE, THOUGH, THE REMODEL WAS VERY CREATIVE AND WELL WORTH IT. ALSO, THE OWNER WAS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, CREATIVE AND PERSONABLE, AND RETURNED CALLS OR E-MAILS VERY PROMPTLY.

After 20 years with our house’s original master bathroom, we decided it was time for an upgrade. This was not a simple “throw-a-piece-of-granite-down-to-make-it-look-more-modern” project, but rather, we wanted to gut it and start over. So, we went to Angie’s List and got the names of 5 contractors, and made appointments with all of them.  After all, we were only going to do this project once, and wanted it done right. We immediately hit it off with Dan from Country Creek.  His personality was easygoing and his knowledge was impressive.  However, perhaps more importantly, he demonstrated just the right amount of productivity for us. For example, when he first walked into our bathroom, he said, “Well, I think for your new shower, you should expand it out further. It will give you more room.  You’ll love it.” What a great idea! We wouldn’t have thought of something like that.  In fact, this type of forward thinking was the norm – he made great suggestions involving everything from lighting to a storage tower on the vanity to a timed fan to (get this) putting an outlet and holder in the drawer where my wife keeps her hair dryer. Brilliant! He also showed flexibility when, a few times, our vision changed during the project. We were especially appreciative that he put the drain and faucet on the opposite end of the tub than that which was originally discussed. We were so pleased with how he mapped out his vision for the bathroom, we asked him to add more lighting to the closet and our master bedroom. Productivity from Dan again:  “Hey, how about sconces on both sides of the wall above your bed?”  Our response:  "Why not?!" So, our bathroom remodel turned into a master suite upgrade, and we were able to stay within our budget.  And while the visual appeal approved exponentially, it is also now more functional and enjoyable to use. OK, now the basics. His crew was friendly, respectful, kept to their deadlines and minimized any mess.  And while Dan’s estimate was among the lowest of the five we received, as you can see, there was no sacrifice when it came to quality or workmanship.  Oh, and about the pricing. Talk about transparency! The estimate was 11 pages, and went through everything.  Several times, when things changed, he promptly got us a new estimate reflecting the changes.  Down to the penny. In short, we were extremely pleased with Country Creek.  Thanks, Dan!

AVail Builders Inc
We had Jim Vail (Vail Builders) remodel our master bedroom suite (bathroom, laundry room and closet).  We learned about Vail Builders after a trusted neighbor highly recommended them. Jim was fabulous from the outset helping us design the changes with 3D modeling software, sending pictures back and forth over the internet.  He came over and studied/measured the existing plumbing, heating and electrical so that we could design the new layout with minimum (expensive) relocations.  Jim has experience with the latest plumbing, heating and electrical  improvements that are on the market and helped us learn about and choose what was available and within budget. We have had bad luck in the past with contractors leaving the house a mess, so we were delighted when Jim laid down plastic on all the stairs and hallways that subcontractors would be using. Plastic walls were hung to keep dust away from the part of the master bedroom that was not being changed, and zippered plastic was used to cover the bedroom door and keep dust out of the rest of the house. Jim was very nice to work with as were the subcontractors he had coming to the house. He pays attention to the details and strives for perfection.  He kept us informed of the progress throughout the project.  The remodel is absolutely beautiful ? better than we imagined it could be. We would hire Jim again, and will recommend him to friends and neighbors.

Recent Review: We worked with Ron Burgess from Northrup Remodeling to do an extensive remodeling project in our old St. Paul home. The work included adding a new powder room on the main floor, gutting and rebuilding another bathroom, opening up a wall. Lots of wall-moving, electrical, tiling, plumbing, drywall. This was as painless as a major remodel can be. And we are so happy with the results! Leading up to the project we were impressed with how Ron listened to us and helped us think through plans. In preparation for the project Ron mapped it out and helped us understand what to expect. Ron's project plan was accurate, and the work was finished within the projected time period of 3 months. Each subcontractor brought in by Northrup was equally great to work with and they all did excellent work. They were willing to work with me on all of my design choices and helped me navigate challenges that come with remodeling old houses.

Recent Review: Patrick Miller did an awesome job! He was easy to get a hold of and showed up every day of the remodel. His sub contractors were great---especially Phil, who build the cabinet by hand, no store bought prefab stuff. At the finish Patrick made sure everything was to my satisfaction before I paid him.

Recent Review: We have a mid-century home that had a horrendous bathroom. We hired JNJ Carpentry to do a complete demo and remodel, including framing out and finishing a new hallway to the space to connect the bathroom to the finished basement (which had previously been open, unfinished space). We have lived in the house for over a decade and this was the first large scale remodel we've done. We had put it off remodeling the bathroom for years because I didn't know how we would ever find the right contractor to provide top level detail as well as respect our beloved home. I can say without any hesitation that JNJ Carpentry was the absolute best company to work with. We had talked with a number of other contractors and found things that were "red flags" from each of them (not wanting to pull permits, no contracts, no time to answer our questions, etc.). We had none of these flags with JNJ Carpentry. Jon took the time to walk us through each step of the process, we had a detailed and agreed upon contract, pulled all permits for the job, and answered every question we had with the utmost patience with our lack of knowledge. When we picked out finishes, he would weigh in if we asked for his opinion and found him to be incredibly informative and honest with us. When we moved into the actual construction phase, he was incredible at scheduling his sub-contractors and kept us informed of the schedule of progress. He was very quick to respond to our communications and made it all very "turn key" for us. They stayed incredibly close to the timeline laid out at the initial phases of construction, only thing that slowed us down for two days was our meddlesome cat walking through the fresh concrete! Finally, and for me, the very most important piece was the actual work. I cannot stress how impeccable their work is. I am a somewhat (super) particular person and there was absolutely nothing about their work product that I found lacking. Also, it stands to mention that how they go about their work is impressive. They protected our home while working (masking off other rooms, covering carpet, sweeping and putting all tools away at the end of the day.) This is a huge thing with me, I appreciated how much they respected that this is our home and treated it so professionally. The bathroom is absolutely stunning and we could not be any happier with the result or with JNJ Carpentry. We are planning a large remodel in the coming years and they will be getting another call from us.

Recent Review: Our reasons for choosing Lakewoods Remodeling were many. They (Sharon, Bill and Steve) were professional and pleasant on the phone and very responsive with our estimate request. Lakewoods also had an excellent record in Angie’s List. Of our estimates, they were not the least expensive or the most. The main reason was their salesperson/supervisor, Bill Mossberg. After my remark about our problem with ice-damming, he mentioned that while doing the roofing work, they could take a look from the outside and tell if we had adequate attic ventilation. The roof work went well, with Victor heading up the crew, but two layers of shingles and 50 year-old tar-paper make a real mess – came off in little pieces. The new roof looks great, and the crew did a good job of clean-up. Only problems were some rotted roof boards, a couple damaged vinyl siding panels from roof debris, and some shoddy workmanship by a previous siding installation (not Lakewoods). Lakewoods fixed them all. A reasonable adder to the original estimate was asked and paid. The tear-off of some soffit revealed almost no air intake vents. That crew, headed by Shane, cut in many new vent intakes and replaced the entire perimeter soffit and fascia. This work was included in the original estimate, and did not over-run. Two amateur radio antennas were removed at no charge and without damage. Because of the huge mess of very small debris, clean-up was done with both vacuum and magnets, and was very acceptable. Bill frequently checked on the work in progress and came by later just to make sure we were happy and that no additional clean-up was necessary. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience, dealing with friendly and proficient people. We added them to our “good guys” list.
