Recent Review: We had an ice dam that resulted in a damaged ceiling and walls. Randy did excellent work. He repaired the damaged areas of the ceiling (plaster over drywall) and removed the popcorn to a smooth finish. He also repaired the damaged plaster walls, including an intricate architectural archway, to perfection. He is clearly a hard worker and an expert at this, and he was ultra-careful to take care of the home and keep it clean despite loads of dust. Highly recommend him!
Recent Review: Wow! Tom did an absolutely fantastic job on a major painting project in our house. We have plaster walls that have never been painted since the house was built in the 1940s and a hand-swirled ceiling that required professional painting. Tom was meticulous in expertly patching all the cracks in the walls, and despite their age they are now perfectly smooth. Because it's an older home we needed someone who really knew what they were doing to handle whatever surprises we encountered, and Tom delivered all the way. With each decision we had to make, he chose the right way over the cheap or easy way. I also appreciated that his 30 years of experience helped us to steer clear of a number of pitfalls. For example, he immediately knew that the color that we chose wouldn't cover well if we used the usual base for it, so before putting on any paint he worked with Sherwin Williams to reformulate the paint using a new base that completely covered in two coats and that exactly matches the color we wanted. Tom was also super easy to work with. He coached me through how to strip the wallpaper myself so that I could save some money and he gave me tips on how to improve my own painting skills. He was friendly, punctual, highly skilled, reasonably priced, and fast. And he did a great job of cleaning up at the end. I couldn't have asked for more.
Recent Review: Matt McCloskey responded to my request for an estimate in a very timely fashion. He came over to see the space, create his estimate, and explain the process to me. When it came time to start the sheetrock work, we did have to wait about a week for his crew to be able to start. When they did get going, they were very professional, friendly, and did a quality job. The upstairs space had a lot of complicated angles, but the guys made it all look beautiful. We also needed the existing stairway's plaster to be repaired/reinforced and skim coated. At the bottom of the stairs, there were a few areas of the wall that didn't look so great. In the remodel process, a few gouges were made and some plastic blew into the primer which created a weird ripple effect. When I called Matt to let him know most of the space was done beautifully, but I needed him to fix the stairs -- he was very gracious in apologizing for that mistake, and had his guys come out and fix it the next business day. In the end, it all looked great -- and even the not-so-great parts were fixed and taken care of pretty quickly. Additionally, the final charge was exactly as the job was estimated -- no surprises!
Recent Review: The work was phenomenal. The water damage necessitated removal of old plaster and placement of a drywall patch, and it was a seamless repair. The stair rail bracket repair also necessitated a drywall patch and that was done seamlessly. We additionally had Anders and his crew faux finish paint our fireplace brick. It had been painted over several times before, and Anders suggested a technique that mimics real brick. It looks just great. They also did a great job with daily cleanup and got along great with our shy dog. A plus all the way.
Recent Review: Bryan is a fantastic painter! He is friendly and easy to communicate with. His rates were totally reasonable, and the work was top quality! I would hire Bryan again for any future painting jobs, interior or exterior.
Recent Review: They arrived on time and walked thru the area that needed work, then they took the time to explain how the work would be done, how long it would take and the overall cost. They were one of the first contractors to make estimates, when we getting ready to start the project so they gave us some good insight into what needed to be done and idea of the cost. We ended up going with another contractor due to our budget constraint, but their insight definitely assist us with our house project.
We needed skim-coating for most of the ceilings in our 100-year-old house, as well as plaster repair from an ice dam leak. Kurt gave us a detailed line-item estimate for plaster repair and painting each room so we could prioritize the repairs. Kurt and his crew were very professional and friendly, and a pleasure to work with.

I was reluctant to hire someone without a reference but it was suggested I try Angie's List. Garth promptly returned my call and a time was set up for him to come by and take a look at what we needed and give us a quote. The price seemed very reasonable and we hired him to do the work. Through no fault of his, what he expected to be a 3-day project became 6 days. Garth arrived on time every day and kept me informed each step of the way. He did a great job with the plaster repair, skim coat, and painting of the walls and ceiling in our sunroom. He is both very personable and professional and we couldn't have been happier with his work. We would most definitely hire him again and would encourage friends or family to do the same.

Emailed him photos twice. No response. Why not respond? I emailed photos so he'd have an idea of the job ahead of time to see if it's something he would be able to do or see if it was too small of a job. It's too bad, because I know a lot of people who could have used him if our job worked out well.

I needed a repair on a bathroom wall that was very uneven and in need of patching in multiple places. After receiving a referral to him, I called; David looked at the job and gave me an estimate. David fit my smaller job within his and my schedule quickly. His work is excellent; the wall was even and ready to be painted. He completed the work and cleaned up the work area after he was finished. For drywall or plastering, I will definitely call Malkerson, Inc. again.

The person who came to give us an estimate was not the one who actually did the work. We got a response for a quote right away and it seemed very reasonable so we went ahead and made an appointment. A different individual came and made the repair. It looks a little uneven. He also left some sheetrock and a bag of sand outside the house which we had to dispose of and didn't clean up after himself very well. I would use the company again but not before talking much more about my expectations. But the bottom line is the ceiling is repaired and that was our goal.

I have a 1925 house that needed some plaster repair in the bathroom. I did the prep work (opening the cracks, cleaning out, etc) and they did the filling. They used drywall mud to fix the cracks. I bought the $99 for 3 hours of drywall/plaster repair. Two guys came--so it was 1.5 hours each. Then I paid an extra $40 or so for them to finish what they were doing. I had previously had someone come in to do the majority of the plaster repair in the house (who wasn't available for this) and have someone else come in after this to do some mudding and taping in the kitchen. Both of those jobs--neither of the guys had to sand much at all, it looked smooth and professional through the whole process. For this job I was going to have these guys do the next round of prep work (painting the cracks with the right product so the plaster sticks) and then repairing the cracks--so I could finish up and then paint. I don't believe they applied anything in the cracks before filling (as my previous plaster guy did) to help with adhesion, the repairs didn't look good when finished and it took me a LONG time to sand their work so it looked okay, and it other areasI had to redo some of the cracks because they needed more mud. I did not like their work on this project. That being said--the guys were very nice. They showed up on time. I think their specialty is painting and then they moved into mudding/drywall. From their work on plaster I would guess they do not have much experience with plaster repair.

Painting of walls was excellent. The only negative comment would be in regards to the light switch plates were damaged upon replacement and screws were missing. I had to replace all switches which was costly.
