Recent Review: I called the folks at Standard Water Control as they had initially installed the drain tile and sump pumps in my house before I bought the house in July 2012. The drain tile was installed in 1997 along with the original sump pump. The back-up sump pump was installed in 2004. I replaced the back-up sump pump batteries last fall. I ended up replacing the original sump pump myself with phone help from the employees at Standard Water Control. I did buy a new sump pump onsite for $320 and found that the price is about twice what you can purchase similar models for on Amazon. So, I think the item was a bit overpriced. Anyhow, this company has a good reputation and was helpful over the phone and in person, so i will use them again in the future as needed.

Recent Review: This firm has done quite a bit of work for me over the years and I have always been very satisfied. While, there are other companies that are sometimes less expensive, their responsiveness, honesty and quality of work are overriding factors to me.
Great work. Could have used plastic sheets to control dust from the concrete from getting everywhere.

I have this plumber hooked up over the last three years. He has done four projects for me over the last three years. The price he charged included the supply of the sump pump. I would use him again in the future.

ANORTHERN STATES BASEMENT SYSTEMS
They did an excellent job and they completed the job in a timely manner. In fact, they finished ahead of schedule. We had a huge flood up here and the basement stayed bone dry. I can’t say enough good things about the system itself; it did the job it was intended to do which is to keep my basement dry. The test of whether it will stay dry under extreme circumstances was there with the flood.

FCarlson Duluth Co
I think that a more appropriate grade is an U. Their billing practices were underhanded and unethical as Craig Carlson charged a $200 late payment fee 1 hour after I asked how they would like to handle the payment for or replacement of my $234 new sump pump and hose system that disappeared when his employees took their equipment out of my basement. It seemed Unprofessional of Craig to discuss and disparage unsatisfied customers that he saw while I was getting a bid. He portrayed my neighbor as someone that made multiple changes and then was unsatisfied; so that neighbor was someone that would never be satisfied. I observed a hole in my neighbors basement wall that was left open for two months by the Carlson Duluth company. I stuffed a plastic bag in it to prevent insects and rodents from getting in too easily. Carlson Duluth was Unresponsive when I called about the leak from my new water line. Craig told me it was a 2 minute fix. Two weeks later they came to fix it. In the meantime, the new concrete developed a large corrosive stain from the dripping water that I could not remove with paint/graffiti remover, wire scrubbing with vinegar and detergent, power washing, and washing. The workers were assigned jobs they appeared to be Untrained for. Craig had his plumbers and pipe-fitters laying down concrete. They were obviously not masons as the concrete work in my basement is a very inexperienced job. I overheard my furnace installers wondering if my water heater was in that spot originally and "hoped that Carlson Duluth didn't do that job. My sister could do a better job than that." The city inspector told me he was requiring them to replace street curbs in the area. The next day I ran into Craig coming out of my neighbors house and he said that he didn't like the curb job and he wanted to have it redone. It seems the city has more influence when it comes to getting poor work redone than the homeowner. Craig hired a trained mason to replace the curb on my property. The company made such a mess of my job and the neighbors that the city stopped issuing them permits for a period of time until they cleaned up the messes they had left. The job took over 2 months from the time they started to the finish. My two neighbors went with Shelton Excavating and they were done in 1 day and the other was done in two days (she had more extensive work than mine due to having to run a new sewer line in her basement).
