Everything went exactly as planned. Electrician arrived on schedule and performed all work as promised. I thought the cost was a little elevated but not unreasonable. Electrician rates tend to run high.

Dave waited until I called him, saying I had rented the power washer and was ready, before he came to the house. He power-washed the entire house in about 2 hours and even brought his own hose. The house looks wonderful. After he was done, I mentioned that I should power-wash my car since I hadn't done so since the harsh winter. When I came back out of the house, he had washed it unbidden. He then painted the shed, paying careful attention to the crevices and nail holes. It looks like a new shed, other than the dents that were already there! I asked him whether, if I paid him a little more, he would reattach the windshield wiper that had come off my car because I couldn't figure it out. He did that without blinking an eye. Dave did tons of other work on my house as I was moving in. He helped my very handy housemate replace parts of the floors after pulling up the carpet and seeing it was necessary and then cut up the old portions of the floors. He came back on garbage day and moved the pieces to the curb. Since the waste service did not take them the next day, he came immediately upon my call and hauled them away. He even figured out a way the professional movers could fit a huge item through a doorway, turn it and immediately move it through another doorway. I am very lucky to have had Dave's help and advice throughout this intense moving process.

James and John did a great job! James was very responsive in making a couple of design changes early on and getting me revised elevations and measurements. John was great in getting the construction going, installing all the appliances, finalizing details and taking care of some loose ends. Jeremy's excellent carpenter skills and attention to detail resulted in a beautiful set of cabinets. Flooring was not included but I was able to hire Ioan, their tile guy, to install my new porcelain plank kitchen floor in addition to the backsplash and he did a great job, too! The entire team was great to work with from start to finish. I would not hesitate to hire them again. Had to hire my own electrician for the electrical work.

ANEWMYER DISTINCTIVE REMODELING
From my first meeting with Jennifer, the owner's daughter, I knew I had picked the right company. Jen was very straight-forward about the difficulties of high-rise remodeling (extra time spend waiting for and riding elevators, hauling all debris and materials through the halls and out etc.) and the time expected for completion. My daughter is physically disabled and I wanted to remodel to make things in her condo as user friendly as possible. Jen was totally on board from the beginning and together we brainstormed ideas to consider. We ran into a few problems, like a pipe from the roof going through the middle of what was to be our bathroom, but everything was handled easily by Newmyer and no stress on me. Every time I had a question (usually emailed to Jen at night) it was answered within the hour. They are an amazing company with quality, friendly workmen, who kept the project going forward at all times. I would definitely recommend Newmyer to anyone !

Within 10 minutes of talking to me they had a very good idea what the problem. Now the problem was locating the wire or wires with the connector that had failed. Within an hour or two they found the failed connector and replaced it with a permanent connection. They then went through my house and rechecked all the receptacles and found two more that were dead, one receptacle had a lose wire that could of lead to more problems.

ARandazzo Heating & Cooling
I got four HVAC estimates. Based on recommendation from another trusted contractor, Angie's List reviews, and the positive experience with the sales rep who took the measurements and assisted with appropriate equipment recommendations, I chose Randazzo. The install team arrived on time and in uniform. The team members were professional and courteous and worked non stop the entire day. The team installed a 96% efficient two stage furnace with new side intake/venting, 2.5 ton A/C unit, and 40 gallon water heater. Plus the electronic thermostat with mobile app (control from cell phone). The work involved electrical wiring, gas lines routing and shut offs, water lines routing and shut offs, computer circuit boards installation and settings, metal HVAC duct working, PVC pipe routing, and chimney flue liner installation. The finance girl was spot on with the paperwork; the signature and initials blocks were highlighted and tabbed (thank you). The finance options and rebates made the decision to spend so much money easier. The lower utility bills should more than make up for the low monthly payment.

APaul Pulcifer Custom Stairs
As mentioned above this is the second time that we used Mr. Pulcifer over a period of six years. We contacted him and he was on sight to discuss the project and listened carefully to our objectives. Mr. Pulcifer made numerous recommendations to our objective to shorten the riser height to accommodate our 88 year old father's limited mobility. These included adding a step in the upper stairway while considering the impact on the lower level stairway minimizing the need for extensive drywall rework on the lower stairway. In preparing his estimate he delineated separate labor estimates for modular components of the project so we could prioritize and make financial decisions within our budget. As Mr. Pulcifer quoted his labor we were able to separate the choices of final railing materials and get started promptly on the project. Paul began the project the following Monday and was on site every day and worked diligently in completing the project on schedule. He also completed minor drywall repair due to the modified stringer design to accommodate the changed stair geometry. As a woodworker myself I could not begin to match the quality of his finished work. Custom stairs require highly skilled, specialized knowledge and Mr. Pulcifer is the best stair builder/craftsman we could find in our area. We HIGHLY recommend him! Our first project with Mr. Pulcifer was in a high end custom built home by one of the areas top builders. Our objective was to match the existing quality of another staircase. Mr. Pulcifer exceeded our high expectations. This current project while modifying a builder's spec home improved the quality and craftsmanship of the center piece stairway in the home. We have reviewed other very high end, very custom projects of Mr. Pulcifer's which you can see on his website at Pulciferstairs.com and we would recommend you contact him for any stairway project whether highly custom or modest in scope.

AOak Electric Service Inc
The whole process went very well. I requested several quotes from competing suppliers. Oak Electric's quote was the lowest with the best warranty offered. The level of detail provided in the quote package was very goos and appreciated by this engineer. They knew their stuff also. I had asked questions not typically asked by most home owners and the sales man, also a Master Electrician answered all of my technical questions except one - and they got back to me the next day with the answer. They explained the whole process including the need to upgrade gas meter. We ran into a few issues with Consumers Power (gas supplier) and Oak was right there with me in assisting with advice on how to work around some of the silliness with Consumers Power. After the gas meter was upgraded, they were out within two weeks time to do the install. The install took 3 electricians the whole day. I had the switch box mounted outside. Each guy worked on a different aspect of the installation but peer reviewed each other's work. Being an aircraft engineer, I am meticulous when it comes to wire routing and securing. Although they did a good job in that regard, I would have made sure my wire runs were more straight and clamps installed at equal distances for better uniformity of the install. Power was off for about 3 hours which is what they said it would take for the transfer switch hook up and wiring to be completed. No big deal. Once the unit was completely installed, one of the tech's walked me through the system and explained how to manual starts and shutdowns on the generator, how to locate fault codes, how to do resets, check the oil and etc. A power demonstration was completed with no faults and the unit was put into service. The crew picked up after themselves and secured all open boxes. Oak sent another inspector out to do a secondary inspection in a few days to very the installation prior to the arrival of the township inspector. The Oak Electric inspector stayed with the township inspector during the entire inspection. No issues were found. One of the features I really like is the mobil link feature allowing me to monitor the state of the generator on my smart phone from anywhere. This also allows Oak Electric to monitor the unit so the know first hand if an issue or fault has occurred. I would highly recommend Oak Electric for any service or installation that they do. Class A operation.

Overall it was a very smooth experience. I called Alan in the afternoon and he was out to give me a quote the next morning. I walked him around and showed him the deck as there were quite a few structural things that had bothered my wife and I since we bought the house a few years ago. Alan actually noticed a few more issues that were plainly obvious once he had pointed them out. It appears that are deck was built in two parts by the previous owners. The second part is a very large extension of our deck. The layout is great, but the craftsmanship of the work done by the contractor the previous owner had hired was not very good. Alan gave me a quote before he left and went line-by-line what each item would cost. The price was competitive given all the extra structural work we needed done beyond just the powerwashing and staining. It was nice that Alan's crew could handle both (i.e. not just deck painters). Ultimately Alan's attention to detail during the first walk-around gave me confidence that his crew was the right choice. After letting him know we accepted the bid, he actually scheduled the work to be done the following week. They seemed to have a busy schedule, but coincidentally they were doing deck work a few houses down and wanted to sync up the projects since we are at the edge of their service area. They started when they said they would and there was about 10 days between the day they started and the day they finished. Two of those days were the weekend and another two it rained all day. We were quite happy with that timeframe. Most days there was a two-man crew doing the powerwashing and staining. I believe Alan also joined them for most of the structural work. When all was said and done our deck looked great! We love the new color and they did a nice job painting. The structural repairs also make the deck look better and make us feel safer since we have a small daughter that will be mobile soon. They also did a great job cleaning up after themselves. The price we were quoted was spot on what they charged so no surprises there either. All in all, I was very happy with the work and would use them again.

Rachel was friendly and showed up at the expected time for the quote and returned the quote very quickly. I was very happy with that part of the experience. Our situation was a little unique in that I have already purchased my bathroom cabinets for the remodel and would be purchasing my own fixtures (due to employee discounts). In addition, to save on cost I would be doing all of my own drywall work as well as removing the existing cabinetry, toilet, and flooring. We also did not need a new toilet as we just purchased all new toilets a couple of years ago. Admittedly I expected some elevated cost due to changing from laminate flooring to tile and also tiling the tub surround but when I received the quote I was pretty shocked. The quote was nearly $9,500 and only $1,900 was product. The labor costs felt very inflated to me considering the amount of work I was doing myself as well as the very small size of my bathroom. After obtaining additional quotes, my feelings were validated. I have no sour feelings toward Dexter Builders, I think maybe they just didn't really want/need my business. Below is the quote for an understanding of how much I was doing myself to save cost as well as the tasks that equate to around $7,500 in labor costs. -Install protective floor covering from entry of house to working area? -All plumbing and electrical work performed by licensed contractors? -Owner to remove toilet, vanity, countertop, faucet, recessed medicine cabinet, and flooring before starting on site? -Remove and dispose of existing tub, tub surround, shower mixer valve, and vanity light? -Install a new shower mixer valve (owner to purchase and have on site)? -Install new bath tub ($550 allowance)? -Install a cement board on shower walls and ceiling? -Install cement board on bathroom floor? -Install floor, wall, base, and ceiling tile in tub area; grout and seal ($1,200 allowance on materials)? -Owner to patch any drywall as needed and paint? -Install owner supplied vanity? -Owner to have countertop installed by others? -Install cabinet over toilet and mirror/ cabinet (owner has on site)? -Install new vanity light ($150 allowance)? -Clean up jobsite and haul away debris
