Recent Review: After seeing their product at the Minneapolis Home & Garden show we were convinced that this was the right product for our porch improvement work. The guys from EZ-Screen brought samples to our home to help us select frame color and installation method. They took careful measurements of all of the window and door openings and put our order in motion. A few weeks later our windows and door were delivered. We did this work at the same time we had some exterior siding work done by another contractor. We arranged to have that contractor do the actual installation of the EZ-Screen product. The rep from EZ-Screen came out to our site when the installation started to ensure that our contractor understood how to properly install the windows and door. Everything went smoothly and contractor commented on how easy the windows went in. After three full seasons of use we still enjoy the product and we're pleased that we chose this as part of our porch renovation. It has added several additional months to our porch usage in our short Minnesota summer seasons. I highly recommend this product for any new screen porch or porch renovation job!

Recent Review: Matt was great to work with through the quote process, project duration, and follow-up. The price was fair. His crew were courteous, worked while on site, and cleaned-up after each day. I would definitely hire them again for future masonry work. Can't say enough good things about our experience.

Recent Review: I enjoy what they built for me. The only thing I did not like is that they gave a quote of $5000.00 but then the owner came out and said that it would cost more.

Recent Review: We love the work done to our home by Grey Oaks Chimney Service.  These guys take pride in their work and it shows! They flawlessly rebuilt our porch and two chimneys, replaced and repaired numerous other crumbling and broken bricks all around our house!  Their work is beautiful and we are both so happy we chose Grey Oaks.  They worked within our budget and even cleaned and repaired my dryer vent as a late add on. They are cheerful and conscientious. We would call them again.

Recent Review: Upon initial contact the provider returned my call quickly and was able to come out and assess the job within a few days. The brick stairway on our 1937 home was in severe disrepair, the porch brick needed some attention, and the cement top of the porch was also cracked above the stairs. We weren't sure which course of action to take or even the extent of repairs we could afford. He discussed all of our options, giving us pricing for each on the spot. Once we decided on the work he drew up the agreement and gave us an approximate date a few weeks out as well as an approximate duration. He even came back to check on some additional structural items so there were no surprises come the day of the repair. His approximate date and duration were dead on. The crew showed up on day one on time and after three days left us with a new porch and stairway that, with some weathering, will look very close to original on our 80 year old home. My husband and I are extremely pleased and we've received positive comments from friends and family that have seen the work, as well. We plan to have them back to perform some repairs and tuck pointing in various places around the exterior of our home in the future.

Recent Review: We are 1/3 of the way done on a 3 part project. They removed the original porch, built a new one and poured the cap today. Looks good so far and we're happy with the progress Things started slowly partly because of our hesitation/indecision and also a miscommunication as to the start date of the job with the crew but our salesman/project manager Shylo has been very patient and has addressed all of our concerns right away. He gave us several options to choose from and was very helpful with the design. I chose not to rate quality yet as the project is not finished but from what I can tell so far, it looks good but I'll review again when the whole project is done.

ASuperior Home Building LLC
I recently hired Superior Home Building after my awning was ripped off of my front porch during a wind storm. There was a lot of damage including the siding, gutters, and railing. I wanted a new covered porch gable roof with a raised inside ceiling (instead of an awning), new siding across the whole front, new gutters, new wood railing painted white, and new poles wrapped in white. (I am a person who knows exactly what I want, how I want it and how much i want to spend.) I searched through many building companies and they either were too expensive, didn't want to do my project, couldn't handle my project, or just didn't seem to honestly care about me or my project. Once I found Jerrod at SHB, all my problems were solved. This team honestly cares about you, your project, your wants and your needs. I told them exactly what I wanted and they did exactly as I asked in a very quick and time efficient way. The price was more than fair and it did not change even once!! They were able to beat out every other company I looked at. They used all good quality material and the finished product is gorgeous!!!! People have been driving over from other parts of my neighborhood because they heard about my beautiful new covered porch and they wanted to see it themselves. I've also had neighbors say they will hire them to complete similar projects on their homes. I will be hiring SHB again in the future to redo my bathroom. I know they can do many different types of projects and their quality of work and price cannot be beat! I would recommend them 100% to anyone, and I have over 20 times in the past month.

Overall experience was pleasant. I have to say the communication with this company was great, which is very important for me. Any time I called, I was able to speak to someone directly (owner or owner's son), or promptly received a call back usually within an hour. Since I was not there while all the work was completed, I consistently received calls letting me know what was going on, work schedules, and to discuss any concerns I had. Before any work started they came out to walk through the things they were going to do and answer any questions I had. On a couple of occasions, the owner's son Michael came out to discuss concerns I had, and was probably there for over an hour each time going over the work with me---once later in the evening, and once on the weekend. Never did I feel rushed when he came out, and working around my schedule was appreciated. From the street, the new porch roof & overhang look great---they did a good job with this, and the house looks great compared to before. The brick porch I had was previously built with a differnt color/style of brick that didn't match the house. Unfortunately, they couldn't put a stone veneer over the face because the slab at the top didn't have enough of an overhang. However, they were able to put on wire lathe and cover in colored mortar which was then carved & textured to look like stone---the color is not a perfect match to the house but not sure anybody could have done it perfectly. Regardless it looks much better than before. The new porch roof has a barrel shaped ceiling which looks really nice--you can see examples of other houses they've done like this on their website. I did have a few issues with some of the work done. 1) Roofing: They had suggested two types of intake ventilation as opposed to cutting new soffit vents: vented drip edge & the edge vent. I utlimately went with the edge vent but am concerned with the installation of this---not as clean as what I would have expected. When the original drip edge was removed, the orginal ice shield tore off enough that there was bare wood between the new drip edge and the existing ice/water shield. The edge vent requires ice/water shield both above & below. I called about this, and they came back and installed ice shield all the way around to cover the exposed wood under the vent and lay over the top of the drip edge. The drip edge they used was also short and didn't overlap the gutter or original fascia trim---they came back out to install aluminum trim to remedy this. If I had to do this all over again, I would insist on cutting tried & true soffit vents as opposed to this edge vent stuff. The aluminum trim around the frieze board, and the drip edge installation is sloppy---but I have been assured everything is functional and they will stand behind their work, so I left it at that. 2) Skylights: I had two skylights put in the kitchen. The framing at the top (roof deck) and the framing at the bottom (kitchen ceiling) were not sqaure to eachother---close to a 1 inch mismatch side to side. The drywaller was able to fix most of this, but there is still a noticable slope going up the sides. Since it is only noticable while standing directly below it and staring up, I let it go. Had I asked them to reframe it perfectly square, I'm sure they would have---they've been pretty good about fixing anything I had a problem with. Overall, I'm satisfied with most of the work. The timing to complete the major work was about 3 days, and they've been out to take care of some of the other concerns I had several times over the following 2 weeks. Each of the crews that came out were on time and cleaned up well when they left each day. The price was OK, but for what I paid I expected a little more attention to detail (clean trim installation/clean caulk lines)---nothing was glaringly horrible but at the same time it's apparent that some of the work was done quickly without a lot of thought. Based on their customer service, I would definitely recommend this company but would be up front with them about your expectations for attention to detail if you're a picky person like me.

Jim was extremely professional and responded promptly to my first inquiry. He was meticulous with details, paperwork and attentive to my requests. His crew was prompt, hard working and professional. The job was completed in approximately one week. I am very satisfied with the finished result -- my new porch that will no longer require painting!! The new construction blends seamlessly with the existing structure.

My old porch looked like death warmed over. Large cracks in the pad, rusted out rail, weathered and chipped limestone steps and two holes where gutters had gone through the pad to an underground drainage line. The brick walls east of the steps were the original brick (the house was built in 1929) while the west wall had been poorly rebuilt under the pad with very wide mortar gaps between the bricks. The old porch had a poured step on the cap in front of the door and three five-foot limestone steps leading from the sidewalk to the porch's cap. Because the poured step is a trip hazard and not up to code we added a fourth limestone step, raised the level of the cap and thus eliminated the poured step.  On the first day the demolition began and the old steps were torn out and a concrete pad was poured whose purpose would be to support the new step. On the second day the crew finished tearing out the old cap and brick sides of the porch. The old cap was 8 to 10 inches thick! Where the poured step was located the concrete was more than 16 inches thick!  They then began building the new porch. Brandon did a great job matching up the new brick used in the porch with the existing brick of the house. We trimmed the porch's cap with limestone to match the limestone steps. Brandon fashioned metal bolts into the back of the limestone so that the new cap would hold them firmly. On the third day they finished the rebuilding and a new 4 inch cap was poured. The new porch is beautiful and is such a complement to the house. It is absolutely georgeous. We had to go out of town the next day before all of the touch-ups and clean up was performed. When we returned you could not tell anyone had been working around the porch! There was fresh dirt on one side of the steps where we have a flower garden and they had spread new mulch on the other side of the steps in another flower garden.   Brandon was my estimator and supervised the project and is a pleasure to work with. He is patient, listens, gives good advice and thoroughly explains the cost of each modification you may want and how he arrived at that cost. The work crew was polite, respectful, well mannered and friendly. I can not tell you how impressed I was with these young men. I give this company my highest recommendation.
