AK & K HEATING & COOLING
We have been using K&K since we bought our Kewadin home in 2009. They have been reliable and do quality work.  We were one of their first Geothermal systems and have been very happy with it.  It provides air conditioning and energy efficient heating.  Since geothermal affects the water system, they also installed a new water softening system and a marathon water heater.  We worked with them as we were remodeling which included re-routing some ductwork, installing our bathroom venting, and installing our vent over the stove.  We also have them out for maintenance.  We did have some complications with the holding tank and the softener that required some reconfiguring which they were good at handling.

DTeam Bob's Heating Cooling Plumbing
GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!!!!!!! We had a problem with the 5 1/2 year old furnace in our house. It was reluctant to fire up when the thermostat called for heat and it was getting worse, so we called Team Bob's. They came out quickly and found the source of the problem -- a burned-out restrictor orifice. It's just a small black plastic disc that looks like it should cost $2.00, but when it's cold outside and your furnace isn't working, you're in a fairly weak position to negotiate price, so I didn't squawk. I didn't squawk when the first service call cost $95 and they couldn't fix it because they didn't have the part in stock. I didn't squawk when the 2nd service call to install that restrictor orifice cost me $225. (In fairness, part of that was an overnight shipping charge to get the needed part shipped in from their supplier). However, after the service tech (a different guy than the one who initially came out) installed the part, he started doing a number of different diagnostic tests on the furnace and told me that I needed another $800 or $900 worth of parts (which would translate into about $1500 installed).... or maybe it was time to think about a new furnace. Heck, they could do a geothermal system for me for only about $20,000 or so! To put it mildly, I didn't trust the hard sell I was getting from Team Bob's, so I contacted Precision Plumbing and Heating for a second opinion. They came out, checked the supposedly bad parts, and found that everything was working perfectly. No further repairs needed, no need to spend another $1500, no need to put in a new furnace. The service tech just smiled ruefully and shook his head when I told him that those recommendations had come from Team Bpb's. When he was here, the Team Bob's service tech had talked about their and quot;pay for performanceand quot; pay plan -- the more they sell, the more they make. Maybe it makes sense if you're the guy running Team Bob's, but it presents the service techs with an obvious conflict of interest. And obviously, the less scrupulous ones succumb to the temptation to strongly recommend unnecessary service. I have no question that Team Bob's has the ability to complete the work quickly and competently, I just wouldn't trust them to limit their work to what was actually necessary. Oh, you know what? Nearly 2 months after Team Bob's told us that we immediately needed to make those repairs or get a new furnace, our furnace has performed flawlessly. Glad I got a 2nd opinion!
