Recent Review: Jeff came out, checked the supplies (I had already purchased the fan) gave an estimate of $125 to $150. Came back in @ 2 weeks, discovered he did not have the right supplies, the proper length down rod, but went ahead and was able to finish the job. The fan looked nice. I started to write the check, but he would not take payment that day. He asked if he could email the bill. When the bill came it was for $250, he stated he had to adjust the bill as it had taken him longer because he did not have the right length down rod. If he had told me that a longer one was needed when he first came out, I would have purchased one. I don't think he knew, and that cost me $100 for an $18 down rod He is a nice young man. I am not sure if I will call him in the future, but will have a signed written contract in place before any work is done. I may have approved the work at $250, but do not like the 'switch up'. I am leary of trusting this provider for a bigger job with even more money on the line.

Recent Review: I found Oak Hill Electric through a and quot;friend of a friendand quot; referral. Mr. Mel Hill was extremely nice, and even called me back while he was on his vacation. It did take a few phone calls to get in touch with anyone, hence the and quot;Cand quot; grade for responsiveness. On the phone, I explained my list of items that needed to be fixed, including installation of a ceiling fan, replacement of a few switches, investigation of a non-working light fixture, and potential addition of a fixture to a room. Mr. Hill said that he could do all of those projects, and quoted me a price of $35/hour, which I thought was quite fair. The day of the service, he showed up with another electrician from his company, and explained that because there were two of them, it would be $35/hour per electrician, therefore $70/hour. This caught me off guard, as I had budgeted for $35/hour and was not told in advance that two electricians would be coming. Therefore, they get a and quot;Cand quot; for pricing. I don't know if this is standard practice for electricians or not, perhaps he thought it was common sense and I just didn't know that most electricians usually send more than one person. Mr. Hill and his co-worker were very polite and nice, and were happy to show me exactly what needed to be repaired. I had no doubts about their sincerety or honesty. I only had two negative experiences, aside from the price misunderstanding: 1) I am not an electrician, so I cannot judge with 100% accuracy; however, it seemed like the projects took a lot longer than I expected they would. I did not feel that having two electricians present made the job go any faster. It took them 5 hours to do the jobs that I had expected to be done in 2-3 hours, max - at $70/hour, that added up very quickly. 2) They did not clean up after themselves. The installation of the light fixture in the bathroom required that they cut into the drywall, and when after they left I went to use the bathroom, I found plaster chunks and dust all over the place. They also did not offer to wear booties or lay down mats when walking through the house, even though it was a rainy day. I am hesitant to write anything negative, as I truly appreciated Mr. Hill's polite demeanor, kindness, and willingness to help. That being said, given the pricing and the length of time it takes them to complete a job, I do not think I will be calling them again.

Recent Review: They are very prompt. If they say they are going to be there at 8:30, they are there at 8:30. I know exactly where their office is located if I need to go there. The workers have been supportive. If there was something they were having trouble with, they could call the boss and he would come over. The price is reasonable, I have no comparison. The builder recommended him right away, and he has had twenty years' experience in the area, so there was no problem. The only call back was for a ceiling fan because I didn't have a rod to extend it like I should have had on hand. He came back to do that once I was able to purchase one, and that was my fault and not his fault.

Recent Review: He has helped us avoid costly repairs because he uses good common sense, something that was obvious in Jim's first visit, but not so with other contractors. We have more jobs lined up for him and are happy to have found him!

It went perfect and exactly as planned. He was onetime, powered through the job quickly when I was in a rush to get back to work, he was very efficient and a great guy! I would recommend him to anyone. I wish he did other trades because he is the ideal person you are looking for anything. If I could vote A+ I would.

As of 10/21/11 I retract any recommendation based on a current experience which was less than satisfactory. Read the above for the total experience and current update.
