Recent Review: First, it's important to know that there are two Roman's Pools in the Brighton/Howell area, one in Brighton and one in Howell.  I called the Brighton Roman's Pools first and was very disappointed with the knowledge of the person on the phone and could hear him being coached in the background.  When I asked for a service call they responded that they could PROBABLY get out to my house in a couple of days and were unwilling to commit to an appointment date and time.  I decided to call the HOWELL store as I had physically visited the HOWELL Roman's Pools store in the past and was happy with the service I received.  They were VERY HELPFUL.  I spoke with Tim who walked me through how to trouble shoot my Pool Heater issue (it wouldn't fire) and I was able to fix the problem (just a small connection problem at the pressure switch).  Tim easily saved me over $100.  I will be buying all my pool parts and supplies from the HOWELL store from now on even though the Brighton store is considerably more convenient for me.

Recent Review: This company is a joke. I was impressed at the initial meeting with Robert Reynolds, but once the pool process started it all changed. My pool was started on May 2nd and is still not finished (June 20, 2011). On May 2nd, the excavator contractor was onsite at 7 am and Bob did not show up with the plans until after 10:30. Bob was demanding for all the money up front and hasn't completed anything. I had to hire my own concrete company to finish the pool, my own fence company to fence the pool. My pool pump burned up because his company left the pump on without any water running through it. I am currently in the process of finding a new pool pump. Bob will not return my phone calls. He is very unprofessional.

Recent Review: My experience with Better Pools and Spas was outstanding.  Mike was extremely careful and thorough when doing the analysis of my heater problem.  He identified the problem, ordered the needed parts, and came back when he said he would to complete the repair.  Stan coordinated everything and his customer service policy is very good when compared to others.  I would trust them to repair all my pool equipment because they are fair and honest people.  Call them, you won't regret it.

Recent Review: I ordered a $2000 130,000 BTU pool heater for my 27' above ground pool in 2012. They installed it and I had trouble heating it from day one. I thought I didn't have a big enough heater. I discovered the problem this year (2014) and that was that their "experts" installed it wrong. The intake and outgoing pipes were opposite so there was never any heated water going back into the pool. I went in and showed them pictures of the arrows going in and out of the pool and how it was opposite and they sent the same guy out to fix it as installed it. He was here 15 minutes, turned my filter and moved it over so it would reach the heater without redoing or making the pipes long enough to reach. Didn't look good, but that is how they "fixed" their mistake. A month later, the pool heater stopped working. When we opened it up, where the pipes go in was all rusted. The repairman said he would see what he could do. I told him it has not worked since we had them install it and it was only 2 years old. (but out of warranty) Their answer was the same as I have heard before. They never checked the chemicals when he came out. I quote:  "Suspect improper chemical balance, PH was very low. (Acidic water causes copper heat exchanges to deteriorate no warranty." In other words, not their problem and they would not admit to any wrong doing on their part. You be the judge, is this a business you want to spend money with?

Recent Review: Master Handyman Service, Doug Shebby, contact number is 810-208-0926 I called 1 day and Doug came out the next morning. He was right on time introduced himself and started on the jobs I had told him about on the phone, which was a plugged toilet and told him I needed some estimates on a couple other jobs, which he fixed that same day. The other jobs were to fix the entrance of the front door to be able to get my Mom in and out of the house in the wheelchair easier on her and us and their hot water was way to hot. He unplugged the toilet, told us we needed new plungers and where he had gotten his at. He fixed the hotwater heater and showed me how to do it myself and told us what to do to stop the hot water heater from going out. Which is to add a 30" vent for the hot water heater on to the one that was on the roof. Told him the roof was going to be redone this Spring, and he told me that if the roofers wouldn't fix it while redoing the roof to call him and he would come out and do it. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others. He was a true blessing because we have been what I call overcharged so many times. He was very courteous and friendly. He doesn't try to sell or add extra work to be done. Very trustworthy.

I live in a condo. He does a lot of work for the people in this complex. He is very reasonable. He is very trustworthy. We were out of town and I gave him a key to my condo. He took care of installing the water heater and installing a stove vent, painting, drywall work. Anything that needs to be done, he is very good at. He is honesty, trustworthy and ability to get things done. He is very knowledgeable.

FHot Tub Guy
After replacing the motherboard, the controls did not work properly.  One jet no longer functioned, at all.  The provider was unable to fix it.  He told me to try to have the distributor replace the motherboard.  The distributor refused to do this.  The other alternative was to replace the control unit, at a cost of $500 to $600. Another provider of services looked at the hot tub a month later and stated that he could get the jet to work and stated that we had a bad control unit (which he had placed 12 months ago). This last week, the spa was not heating up.  Inspection revealed that the motherboard was burnt up by the heating element.  My current provider stated that the heating units were not properly attached.  It was to have two heavy copper strips to conduct the electricity.  On one side, the copper strip was replaced by a thin wire, which burned through.  He also stated that the motherboard had to be programmed to accept the second jet and that the two previous providers did not notice this, either (along with the wire).  He replaced the motherboard, added the proper copper strips, programmed the motherboard.  And not the tub works properly for the first time in quite awhile.

DPrecision Pool Service Inc
It did not go good with Precision Pool Service Inc. After talking to another place I found out they over charged me, and gave me bad advise. They did not fix anything, all they did was an inspection. The crew that came out was on time, they looked like they knew what they were doing, so I did not question anything. Basically they took advantage of the fact that I did not know anything about pools. The only reason I went with them, was they were available. I had two days to get the inspection done and they were available. I would not recommend them to anyone. They said there was a leak in the floor heater, I had another company come out and look at it; and there was not a leak. The other guy that I had come out turned the heater and it quit leaking, it works fine now. And he only charged me eighty dollars. I would not use this company again.

AJohn's Handyman Services
He did a very good job.  He did what I asked him to do and didn't waste any time.  He came earlier another day and looked at the job so he could have everything he needed on the scheduled work day.  He called before he came out and went right on with his work and finished everything efficiently.  I was very pleased.

FMACKSOODS
My pool is 6 years old. 3 years ago the steel wall failed. Macksoods said that they no longer handled this brand of pool due to the company folding and that there was no way that they could get the parts for the pool. The liner developed a leak right where the bottom rail sits. You could feel the bottom rail. This year we decided to put in a new liner but still have not received a call from Macksoods. Also the heater no longer puts out heat. That is another thing that they can't seem to fix. This pool had a 6 year warranty. So much for the warranty!! Buyer beware!!
