Reviews in Flint for Installing Outlets

CMister Sparky
Scheduling the appointment was very easy. The person showed up on time for the estimate, and was very considerate (taking off shoes, etc.) and professional. Provided clear explanations of what he could to for us. We asked them to repair the things we knew we needed to have done (replacing outlets, replacing light switches). This work was done expertly and professionally. I had the sense that I was paying for more expertise than was strictly necessary for an easy job, but that's okay with me. Here's what I did not like, and why I will not be hiring this firm again: I believe they used fear to recommend (even push for) work that we did not need. I am not an electrician so you can take my statement for whatever you think it is worth. But I do not believe this event falls into a grey area; my opinion is that they were pushing the edges of intentional dishonesty. Specifically, the Mr. Sparky electrician insisted on looking at our breaker box "as long as I'm here" even though it was not related to the reason we called. He saw some discoloration on some metal in there (caused by oxidation, definitely not water), and claimed that we were in grave danger of having an electrical fire. He recommended that we immediately have the whole breaker box replaced (for $700). I got a second opinion from an independent licensed electrician who was very experienced and had an assistant (maybe an apprentice?) with him. I didn't tell him what anyone else said. I just had him look at the breaker box. I specifically asked about this discoloration. He said that was normal for a house my age, that a bit of oxidation on the metal parts would not affect the function, and that there was nothing to worry about. Both he and his assistant said that they would never recommend that a breaker box be replaced based on what they saw. (In fact, they were confused about why I was pushing this line of questioning and I fessed up that I was checking out another electrician's recommendation.) So this is what I am providing you: my experience is that one electrician disagreed with another one, and I do not have the expertise to say who is right. But my read of the situation is that the one who did not recommend $700 worth of work on something I didn't call them in to look at is likely the more honest party. I feel strongly about this, but you can take this for what it is worth.

He was not able to do what I wanted and I thought he overcharged. I called him to see about installing a surveillance system and he said that he won't be able to do that. Then I had him check some electrical outlets. He replaced the outlets and the charge came out over $100.

Rich was our technician and he was outstanding!  Did excellent work, great personality and went out of the way to do a professional installation.  My wife was not sure on several things and Rich took the time to call me several times as I was out of town and explain everything and get my approval before proceeding.  When I got home the project was well done and I was very pleased with it.  Would highly recommend this young man!

Curtis Reames was the electrician and he is the owner of Phase 2.  He was timely in my response for service, we scheduled an appointment and he was early for the appointment.  The latter is a plus in my book.  He had other major jobs going on and asked if I would like a Saturday appointment which was fine with me.  I was surprised he worked on the week-end and did so at regular rates.  BTW, he also gave me a 5% discount on his labor due to the Angie's List connection. Curtis was very professional.  He had all the supplies necessary and took down the old fixtures;  and, then he installed the new fixtures in the hallway and over the stairway.  He also replaced an outlet for me and had the supplies with him.  Additionally I had ordered a bed and he even offered to assemble it for me, which saved my neighbor from having to do so. Curtis also offered to dispose of the old lighting and bed frame by donating all to Habitat for Humanity.  That was fine in my book, as I did not have to worry about the disposal of the glass and fixtures and saved my time and effort! I would highly recommend Curtis and Phase 2 and would use them again in the future.  Good Job, Curtis!  And glad you took a check, too!

Call was made on a Saturday prior to a holiday and was answered promptly.  Service technician was dispatched immediately and was on site within 20 minutes.  Investigation of the problem was thorough and work completed within an hour.  Knowledgeable and extremely professional service. Plan to use Soma again to complete and correct work performed previously by an unscrupulous and incompetent electrician, and for any other problems which may arise in the future.

It went very well. Mark was on time and very professional. He explained exactly what he was going to do and he took his time to make sure everything was done correctly, the way we wanted it. He was very pleasant to work with and I will recommend him to anyone. Our heat went out one evening and I called him to see if he knew anything about furnaces and although he said he doesn't know much about them he dropped everything to come over to see if he could get it working and he did. We would pay double just to have Mark do a job for us because we know he will do it right the first time.

My mom wanted them back but they seemed busy. They did a lot of residential work in this area from my understanding. I want her box checked out before she puts in a new furnace. In this house if you have an electric stove it requires its own special outlet so she wanted the existing outlet replaced and he came and did it. He came out sometime in late January and early February and he charged her $75. He didn't have to do any major wiring. He just changed the outlet.

Electricians arrived on time, introduced themselves, and were patient, polite and helpful throughout their stay.  They escorted me around my home to each work area and explained in detail what needed to be done.  They then sat  me down and wrote everything up (including price) prior to beginning work.  Afterwards, they made recommendations for additional electrical repairs and improvements and wrote up a detailed estimate for those services.  They wore shoe covers inside the home and left no mess anywhere.  Just to be nice, they waived the routine service call fee.  Written one year warranty on all repairs.  Also, their office receptionist was courteous and helpful each time I called.

APhase 2 Electric
The work was spread out over 3 distinct visits to complete all of the work.  All of the electrical rough in for wiring was done on the first two days.  The last day was a few weeks later after the drywall went up.  On the last visit all boxes, receptacles, and final tie ins to the breaker were done.  The work done was excellent and I would recommend Curt from Phase 2 for any electrical work needed around a house.

Recent Review: Great experience. Rated him A only because there is not an A+ rating. He was on time and already had parts for the job. Job was done quickly. Very friendly and professional. It is hard to find electricians who will do the smaller jobs. I would use him for smaller and larger jobs.
