Business Description: Been in business for 18 yrs, licensed and insured. Have numerous sub-contracters for masonary work etc., Small jobs payable upon completion, larger jobs such as roofs etc., 60% down remainder upon completion. No charge for estimates and do not add surcharge to building materials.
Recent Review: Overall I was extremely pleased and satisfied with the outcome. From a construction standpoint, everything was completed as requested. The quality of work was excellent and timely. The work was done in the winter months and the crew and work-site were kept very clean. The outcome was excellent and the addition turned out beautiful. But what made the most difference was Gary Harms himself. Unlike most builders, Gary is very customer focused and detailed orientated. He keeps you informed every step of the way so you don't have to wonder what is being done. He makes suggestions/recommendations along the way so that you can make sure the work that is completed is to your liking. He is always accessible and available when needed. This was very important for me because this is a cabin and I am not at the home regularly to inspect the work. With Gary you don't have to worry about what is going on, he will make sure you are informed, and most importantly, happy! He also did a lot of "custom" work that he suggested and all of it turned out fantastic. Much of it was done by Gary himself which proves his commitment to quality work. I would recommend Harms Enterprises for any building/construction job!
A - for paver work on extensive driveway was excellent. A - for carport and retaining wall. A - for Crew responsiveness to my design and wishes. C - for contractor responsiveness. F - for stonework 1. Crew dumped garbage behind retaining wall so when dug up for planting border, had to remove garbage. 2. Stone work very poor. Had to call back to reset stones and had to work on my hands and knees in the rain with a worker to get the job done. Still has pools and major trip-points because of poor leveling. Stones butting up to lawn are falling off because of lack of proper support. Used gatordust between pavers. Did not compact, water and sweep between application layers as directed on manufacturer website. When I saw the completed job, I went to the website. I was present for a majority of the installation and expected that they were doing the job correctly. They laid the stone, swept in the gatordust and wet it down...no compacting, watering or sweeping between layers. Left massive amounts of gatordust on stones. Stones look dirty and those that are supposed to have metallic surface are dull. Gatordust is loose between stones now and weeds are coming up, holes in gatordust is spongy with air pockets under neath. I am having to scrub entire stone area on 3 sides of my house with chemical and wire brush to remove residue. 3. Contractor built stone steps using retaining wall block as a base. They used concrete that had no color to match gatordust, so the finished project looked like gobs of concrete holding stones in place. I asked the contractor to fix it. I had to purchase colorant on my own. Contractor sent a worker to "help" me try to fix it. I did not know how to fix the problem, so I suggested we just push the concrete up under stone and rub it into the block to blend it. The worker agreed. I trusted his judgment...now I really have a mess. Although I followed directions of colorant mix, when it dried, it turned out too dark. The worker did not give input into coloring the concrete. This expensive job is an eyesore and constant work for me to try to mitigate problems and repair issues as they arise. I would not recommend this contractor to install stonework. I would recommend using this contractor for landscaping, brick driveways and retaining walls. The carpenters he selected to build the carport did an excellent job and I am extremely satisfied.

We met Arn and Kimberly while attending the Parade of Homes. We were nearing retirement and weighing our options regarding housing. We loved their house featured that year, plus their willingness to help with finding a lot and selling our existing home. Arn and Kimberly consistently go above and beyond the norm to help the customer. When we found a potential lot, Arn was willing to look at it and evaluate it for suitability. During the entire building process, Arn was excellent at communicating progress and answering questions. When little things went wrong, he immediately took steps to correct them. We would not hesitate to recommend McIntyre Builders to anyone desiring a quality built, energy efficient home.

I knew the waterproofing system that I wanted. Rub-R-Wall® Plus Waterproofing has better tensile strength and does not require protection board prior to backfilling. We used this water proofing on our previous home because we had clay all around our basement. This waterproofing worked great. The foundation never leaked even though our cement floor cracked after 3 years. The products flexibility is the key. So when we decided to build again I new exactly what we wanted. I researched which vendors used this system in Michigan and found Palmer's Damp-Proofing. They were very courteous and professional. I was able to have them come out (very out of their way) to water proof my new foundation. I can't express how thankful I am that they got me in so quickly. I was also given a tube of the material to do a touchup if anything scratched the surface before we back filled the foundation. I was so glad that I had the extra tube of material. We had a cement truck get to close to the foundation and cracked it. I dug down and cleared the foundation area and placed the touchup material over the crack to reseal the foundation. We have had so much rain this month and had standing water outside of the wall along the crack that was created by the cement truck. NO LEAKS!!! love this product!! Thank you Palmer's Damp-Proofing for offering a great product at a good price with friendly and courteous service.

It was a horrible experience. Paul Tranquilla is a stubborn individual who only wants to do things his way. He makes design changes without owner’s approval and then refuses to correct the issue. The quality of work is unacceptable. Lumber that is accidentally cut too short for the needed measurement is used anyway then filled in with shims. This mis-cut measurement seems to happen repeatedly. I was quoted a price that he knew was the maximum I could afford, in the end I was billed nearly $13,000.00 more than that quote.

DO NOT USE THIS MAN OR HIS COMPANY. HE WILL RIP YOU OFF AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT FINISH THE JOB. HE WILL ALSO PAD HIS HOURS AND IF YOU DO HIRE HIM, KEEP TRACK OF THE TIME HIS MEN ARE WORKING FOR YOU. This was his first job of the year and they finished the roof part and were suppose to come back on a Saturday to build the stairs on the inside of my wood burning building but HE NEVER SHOWED UP and on top of that, HE TRIED TO ADD 8 HOURS TO THE TOTAL TIME WHICH WAS FALSE. I had used this clown before and trusted him and his crew. He asked to be paid since he needed to pay his guys and I trusted him to come back and finish the job but he did not. I had to build my stairs to finish. I believe he was p***** because I have kept very good hours of time worked, time spent on break and so forth and I am glad I did because this a****** added on EIGHT HOURS TO TOTAL TIME and I CALLED HIM ON IT!!! I kept time in my shop and inside my house. This way I had what my wife had wrote down and what I wrote down and he could not challenge me to it because this clow n DOES NOT HELP HIS GUYS WORK. HE JUST DRIVES AROUND DOING NOTHING. It is my understanding that his father was a stand up guy and did an honest days work for an honest days pay and NEVER PADDED HIS HOURS. This is NOT a review of the Senior Klein.

FBen Fettig, Harbor View construction
I have never had a worse experience. Bottom line is that the guy was way behind schedule while his supervisor assigned to my job served jail time for taking money from other people's building jobs and never finishing them. Fettig did the same thing to me. When the project was going on 2 years overdue, I began questioning his billing and would not pay for work not done. After 2 months of his continued delays and lies, he walked off the job refusing to complete work that he was paid in advance to do. The Michigan Builders license group has several complaints against him and his supervisor's licenses. The cost to fix his poor quality building more than doubled my price.
