Recent Review: Had to come back twice. But, West Michigan Roofing actually said I should replace my 7 year old roof! (They lost all credibility). For $125 Jake pounded in 5 nails. The problem was solved.

Recent Review: The owner came out. I had listed the thing that I wanted and gave him the list. We discussed and changed a few details. I have roofed both our house and the Dutch Barn in my yourger life and knew what needed to be done. The details were with innovations that came out since I roofed last. He look at the barn, made a couple of measurements at the base, and looked at me and said "I can put another roof on for $3500. I was surprised, here 15 minutes and giving me a price. I asked how can you do that - that is give a price so quickly? He similed and said I have estimated and installed roofs for 30 years of my life and so I know. Then let me ask you, "Why are you not talking me into tearing the old single layer roof "off", before installing the new roof? (The other contractors practically insisted on removing the old roof before installing the new roof) He commented " You said the roof does not leak, why would you want to remove a solid unleaking roof. When we put up the next roof, you will have two unleaking roofs." If your roof leaked, we would be having a different discussion. One last question, 'What type of nails do you use in your nail gun?" The reply "We don't, we nail by hand". As he was $400 less than the next lowest contractors bid and, more important, the most experience in doing the job, we selected him to do the job. They came on a Thursday and by Friday night the job was done, looked good and grounds around Barn were cleaned. Now I have waited from September 2012 until January of 2013 and no leaks have been observed. So, I expect, we will not have leaks for 20 or more years. I am happy with his work and would use him again.

Recent Review: Jacob and his team were responsive, courteous, reliable and friendly from the time I contacted him to the completion of the job. He took the time to understand all the things that needed to be repaired on my roof and explained how he would get them all accomplished. They did a great work in removing the old shingles, repairing boards, installing a ridge vent, putting down felt, flashing and waterproofing, putting on the new shingles, then cleaning up after themselves. I would heartily recommend Ridgeview Roofing and Construction for any roofing or construction work you need done.

They were fantastic. They examined the problem and moved quickly to fix. How ever the first attempt did not fix the entire problem. They were out the next day to make it right. Very professional and communiticated perfectly. Would hire again without question.

They were great. They took care of everything from recommending work to be done and getting the permit to clean up. They matched current shingles and the roof looks great. They were very nice to work with.

In selling our home, the inspection showed some damaged shingles on our 8 year old roof, possibly from our snow removal.  Since Lyster's had helped us with gutter repair, we asked them if they could help us, rather than going to the roof installer who we didn't want to deal with again.  They did this small job for us, charged us a very reasonable amount, came and went without a problem.  This is a wonderful company.  Great customer service.

The roof leaked before.  Adam put other things on hold to get it done quickly.  We are glad we got it done before these latest storms.  Really liked that they got it done in a day.  They had 8 or 9 people out here.

First, let me say I have always proudly proclaimed my disdain for contractors, meaning just about anyone who ever has to do any work around my home.  They don't show up, they don't call to tell you, they don't call to apologize for not showin up, they don't call you back when you call them to find out why they didn't show up or if they're coming at another time - no matter how many times you call!  If they do come they often do a half-assed (pardon my french) job or screw it up even more, they're less than honest, they don't care how they treat your home, they leave a mess....you get the picture. WELL, I have to eat ALL of my words now.....Lyster Exteriors are THE best people I have EVER worked with, bar NONE.  First, they returned my email within hours.  Sy came out  WHEN HE SAID HE WAS COMING, ON TIME!  He listened, he evaluated the situation, we came up with a plan, we set a date.  The weather was less than cooperative so he CALLED AND APOLOGIZED days in advance that they would have to move the job ahead by a day.  THEY CALLED!!! Then, Cody and Jay showed up ON TIME ON THE DAY THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO!  Cody took pictures and explained exactly what they would do before they did anything.  THEN THEY DID IT!!! WOW!!! The leak ended up being the result of an architectural flaw which could not have been discovered until they really got into it. At that point the job required experienced workers who would take their time to investigate the problem, find the source of the leak, and come up with a plan to correct it.  Cody was totally honest and explained that he wanted to get the opinion of other experienced roofers to be sure he was correct before proceeding --WOW!  SO IMPRESSIVE!  He didn't pretend he "knew it all"....wow! wow!  We needed another day, they Sy discussed keeping the extra cost as low as he could (and he did - Cody returned with Jimmy and they worked for 6 HOURS when they came back.....again, took pictures, showed us exactly what was happening and fixed it.  wow.  I just can't say enough. Wow.  I am so glad the other TWO attempts we made to get guys here failed and they didn't show up.  They NEVER would have figured it out.  WOW.  I also have to say I went to the business to pay the bill and to scope it out - wow again.  Clean, neat and very well signed.  I knew where to go and everyone I talked to was friendly, efficient and attentive-- even when they were short handed!  WOW!!! I was desperate when I joined Angie's list....I'm so happy right now! Thank youy Angie!  Thank you Sy, Cody, Jay and Jimmy! Mary Meagher

Jake, came out right a way when we called for an estimate, very friendly and professional. Scheduled a approximate time for reroofing the home. We tried calling for over two weeks to get a hold of him and no answer, just his answering machine. Finally he called us back and scheduled a time to do the work, his workers did a great job, but we never seen Jake again. The workers said he would be out and check the work and receive his payment. He never came out and check the work or get his money, we called and called and called no answer, just his answering machine. Very poor communication with his customers. We finally after two weeks sent the check by mail certified to him.

CKATZ ROOFING & SIDING INC
My mother's house which had just had a a tear off replace done 3 weeks prior to the storm was damaged by a tree falling on it. Katz which has a fair ranking here had by far the best price to repair the damage. When I contacted the individual to let them know they would be getting the job, it was in July. At the time I inquired as to when he thought they would be able to fit the work in and he said he thought they were trying to get all these smaller jobs done in the next two weeks because they had a large job coming up. Fair enough. Two weeks went by and no contact was made by Katz so I called them. The contact had to check and called me back, I was informed it would be about a week and 1/2 before they would get to mom. Two weeks went by. Nothing. Rinse and repeat. Finally after 6 more weeks they came and repaired the roof but couldn't do the soffit. The house is 90 years old and the wood used to make the soffit is larger than today's stock size. So the workers left. So I called and was told that they had contracted with LL Johnson in Charlotte to get some milled. When I called to find out where they were in the process, I was given a new name as someone who was milling the wood. They finally showed and painted the wood prior to repairing the soffit. Then after repairing the soffit and painting damaged siding they informed my mother that they were all done and the house was finished. When I could check the work that weekend, I was obvisous to me that they a missed installing a 12 foot piece of trim at the junction of the soffit and the wall. It was installed on the rest of the repaired area. So another call. Finally in October the house was finished. Then the bill which obviously had been mailed prior to that last piece of molding being installed arrived and I was called by the salesman wanting to know if they could stop by and get a check. They want to ease a cach flow situation. I gave them a time I would be at my mom's so someone could stop by and get the check. Shock, they didn't show up so it was mailed. The invoice was for $400 more than the quote and while it was probably justified, (custom milled wood) their was no indication as to why it was $400. Their crew left wood behind my mother's garage and a paint can and brush back there. After the initial tear off, they always used her trash bin instead of halling away their trash and used her hose without returning things as they found them. The work is statisfactory. Getting it done was a frustating experience I won't repeat.
