I purchased the three-hour handyman service, with the intent that we would have the handyman do a bunch of projects around the house. When the estimator came, we wanted to replace three door sweeps, three doors' weather stripping, replace a light bulb, install three light kits, and caulk two bathtubs. The estimator came, and was very professional, and told us the job would take 4-6 hours to complete, plus cost of materials, and scheduled the handyman to come in 3 days. I took off two days of work, one for the estimator, and one for the day of the job completion. After the estimator came, we did some of our own research, and realized it was a bad idea to recaulk both bathrooms, because we would not have any showers to use, which is an issue that the estimator did not raise. The handyman showed up within the time frame, came in, and had to evaluate all the work that we would ask him to do, and he went out to get the materials at the local Home Depot, which was only about 1 mile away. An hour and half after he departed to the home depot, he called and said they only had one door sweep, and the closest home depot that has it is 25 minutes away. I told him since he's already used up half his time, he should come back and finish what he can. His first response is "you don't want to go over your three-hour deal?" 35 minutes later he showed up back at the house, and immediately started getting calls he was taking. He installed the one door sweep, weather stripping on two doors, and changed one light bulb. We decided that he will not install the light kits. The work he did was fine. But I was not satisfied on two grounds: 1. the estimator did not know enough about the type of work the handyman would perform so that we could get the materials ourselves ahead of time, or have the handyman come to the job with the materials in advance. 2. the handyman took 2 hours to go to a home depot that was 1 mile away, when the materials could have been ordered in advance. I will not hire them again.
