Recent Review: Kitchen savers was great. All of the work was done professionally and completed as promised. Tim Mitchell installed the cabinets perfectly. His attention to detail was amazing. What a master carpenter! Each day he cleaned up and removed any debris. I highly recommend Kitchen Savers.

Recent Review: We had hired Willis Builders for a bathroom remodeling project recently. We were so impressed with the work of Aloisio and Alencar, that we hired Aloisio for this small project of flipping the closet from the guest bedroom into the master bedroom. The master bedroom already had a closet, but that was not enough for two people. The guest bedroom closet was on the same wall, just on the other side. Aloisio took care to keep the dust to a minimum, by installing dust barriers. It worked very well. He took care in removing the closet door, shelving and old trim  carefully so that he could reuse as much as possible. We are very pleased with this home improvement project as we no longer have to keep our  clothes in two separate rooms.

Recent Review: Bill Miner was our sales rep and was very helpful in guiding us in making our decisions. We could call him whenever we had questions. The crew that we had were great. They were friendly, courteous and cleaned up everyday behind themselves. The work was started within the time line and finished ahead of schedule. We had some incidental damage done by the HVAC subcontractor hired by AES. Upon contacting Bill Munson, he arranged to meet here with the owner of the HVAC Company the very next day. Together they arranged to have the damage completely repaired to our satisfaction.

Recent Review: JW Home Improvement was hired to restore our 105 year old Master Bedroom back to the original 1910 condition. They completely re-plastered the room and filled in the cracks in the wall. They had to redo work done by prior contractors who didn't know what they were doing. They repaired the kitchen pantry door. I am 100% satisfied with the quality and quantity of their work. They have earned any future business when it comes up. Tony is very good at giving accurate estimates. Sung and Ignatius did wonderful work on our property. Historic buildings require people who truly know what they are doing. They did a very professional job and respected the historic character of this 1910 Petworth Row House. Job well done!

Recent Review: The owner of Clarksville Construction, Adam August, arrived on time for the estimate appointment.  We reviewed the work to be done and he provided a written estimate within two weeks of the appointment (standard with all the contractors).  I had met with two other contractors as well, but Adam and his company seemed to be the best fit.  Their estimate was in the middle, but I felt they could do the job better than anyone else.  After signing the contract, his men were at the house within a week removing and painting kitchen cabinets and removing the drop ceiling in the bedroom/sunroom.  His team moved very quickly to get things done!  Everyone I met who worked for Clarksville Construction were very pleasant, easy to talk to, and willing to listen to my ideas.  I esp. give Tom much credit for his patience with my design changes on things like light fixtures and faucets. The renovation took longer than expected because of the inclement weather this past winter, but this was understood.  One thing that made me initially nervous was paying a large chunk of the final deposit toward the end of the project before all issues were addressed.  I worried that I wouldn't have leverage to encourage their company to finish the job to my satisfaction.  However, they were very professional and responsive to correcting the two issues I found with their work, and finished the job to my complete satisfaction!  I should mention too that they have a nifty online webservice application that helps manage their projects.  You can see the scope of the work to be done, select fixtures, email the team, view before pics of the work, and view a calendar of who and when will be at your house next.  It organized the project very nicely and made it very easy to collaborate with CC.

Recent Review: The GreenTech team was very professional and knowledgeable. From start to finish, Mo, the Sale Manager, and his team worked diligently to perform an excellent job. They finished the job in the scheduled time and they also helped in directing me to purchase good quality materials with competitive prices. Mo always responded promptly to my calls and alway took the time to explain what needs to be done. He even offered to accompany me to purchase the required material dimensions and quality. I would hire this team again and will recommend them to friends and relatives.

Reviews in Highland to Remodel Master Bedroom

AVKB Kitchen & Bath
Over the past few years, my wife, Divine, and I have been mulling about getting our kitchen and master bedroom bathroom remodeled as they both need some serious updating. In October of 2017, we finally decided to go for it and go through the usual procedure of getting at least 2-3 bids for the projects, as they involve some serious dollars (for us, at least). The first bidder (we won't name it) was a big disappointment. The company representative that came did not seem to have the enthusiasm or energy to really help us out on a strategy as to the hows, whats, and whens involved in a major project. Besides the price quoted being ridiculously high, the choices in material was somewhat limited. Next, came VKb. Joe and Gail came to our house to do their thing. Both were very professional in their approach, took time to discuss things with us, and most of all, we felt comfortable dealing with them. Thus, VKB ended up the second and last bidder for our projects. The VKB personnel’s demeanor got us sold. The projects got underway in November for which Ferhat was assigned as the project manager. He was professional and very knowledgeable in all aspects of the projects, made himself readily accessible for any questions we have had over the course of the projects and he would avail himself whenever we wanted him on site for any project-related reason. He remained on top of things from day one and all throughout the progression of the projects. I am a very detail oriented person (to the point of being a pain in the rear at times) and there were times when some things seem out of place or I want them done a certain way, Ferhat always made sure that they got done without sacrificing safety and within standards. The work crew provided by VKB was outstanding. They were courteous, meticulous in their work, and tried as much as possible to prevent dust and debris from getting all over the house. They treated me and my wife with respect and they did the work as if they were working on their own houses. If I had another house that needed these types of remodeling, I would never settle for another work crew, If I could afford it, I would pay them a retainer just so they are available to work for me at anytime. Our experience with VKB has been nothing short of wonderful. Thank you to Joe, Gail, David, Hermes, Alonzo, Horatio, Marvin, Juan, Johnny, Emerson, and everyone else involved in these projects. Our very special thank you to Ferhat, who made things happen the way they did and made my wife’s day and mine.

Calvin gave us a great us a great design. He offered us a broad range of materials and appliances. He made great suggestions. The installation was superb. Polo and his team did an outstanding job bringing drawing to life. Excellent workmanship. The plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall and tile installation were performed well. They finished the project a week early. We are very happy with our new bathroom. A great job for a great price!

FKitchens By Request
Hired contractor (Kitchens By Request - William Arnold, III, aka "Blue Arnold") and are now suing them for multiple issues. Job took much longer then was agreed upon in the contract. They fraudulently billed us. For example, we picked an expensive sink and they replaced it with a sink several thousand dollars cheaper and tried to pass it off as our choice while not crediting us for the price differences of the sinks, as well as over billing us for numerous other items, (sent late bills in an attempt to flagrantly over bill us for multiple items). Claimed they were owed money when they were overpaid, hence the need for the lawsuit. They took advantage of our trust and made design decisions on their own without consulting us. Arnold's employee, Perry Christian, did an exterior color consultation for our front door, trim and shutters and sent us a bill for nearly five thousand dollars. Perry wasn't certified to do any of this at the time of service. Other certified color consult estimates would have charged us $300.00. Complete rip off. In addition, we have a large walk in shower with glass but the glass is so unstable the shower can't be used. We don't believe that they have ever done a glass shower this size. Arnold acknowledged the problem with the glass not being stable and after agreeing to fix it properly changed his mind and eventually recommended a horrible metal bar which aesthetically takes away from the design of the bathroom. Other contractors have come in and advised us that there were plenty of other ways to design the shower so the glass was stable. Kitchens By Request didn't want to correct this mistake because they didn't want to spend the money fixing their error. The stability bar was a cheap ugly unacceptable option. It will cost thousands to correct this problem. The lawsuit is further to recover the faulty design and workmanship in this regard. In short, I would never recommend this contractor for anything unless you are looking to be ripped off.

CMETROPOLITAN BATH & TILE
Initially they installed the water controls backwards. Two tiles were cracked during installation of shower doors. Since the installation we are now having a leakage problem. BGE plummer found they put in a 1 1/2and quot; drain instead of the required 2and quot;. I just wanted to go on record the kind of work they perform.

Because JJ had done such a good job remodeling my basement, I hired him to demolish the closet in my master bedroom and replace it with a shelving/hanging system from easyclosets.com. He worked with my schedule and installed all the 19 boxes of materials the website sent. I am very pleased with the outcome and would definitely hire JJ again for any remodeling job in my house.

FBudget Bath
While the connatations of "Budget Bath" left me with the impression of a low-bid, low quality company, the excellent reviews in Angie's convinced me to give them a call. I met with David House and we reviewed the work I wanted done, which was a typical renovation of a master bath (new tiles, cabinets, mirrors, fixtures). I knew pretty much what I wanted - or better put, I knew what I could afford, and there wasn't any room in my budget for much creativity as much as I would have liked to do them. Being retired, on a fixed income and with a daughter starting college, cost was regrettably a key factor for me. I had written up my Statement of Work such that I would provide all non-construction materials, and I did this in part because I'm an avid shopper and wanted to minize my product costs as much as possible. When David left I thought he was going to prepare a bid, and after a week I asked him if he had anything for me. I subsequently received an e-mail from David in which he declined to submit a bid. If he had stopped there, I'd have had no issues. However, David went on for several paragraphs explaining why he didn't want to deal with people like me who wanted to SAVE and who don't worry about quality. I found the explanation and lecture as insulting, demeaning and unnecessary.  I'm not sure David meant it this way, but that's the way it came across and that's the reason for the poor rating. Not a big deal really. I'm now working with a couple of finalists for my project and both companies understand the dilemna I have of balancing cost with features & quality. I suspect that David's company does great work but helping you manage costs may not be their top priority.

ABottom Line Remodeling
I needed to update replace two bathrooms - one due to a problem from the original construction of the house which I lived with for 40+ years & the second the “main bathroom” which due to a leak in the roof had partially collapsed the ceiling which temporarily I had patched up. I contacted Rob Nally “Bottom Line remodeling” & received an estimate of $8,500 for each bathroom update, The guide line being that I chose & bought the vanities, plumbing (for the bath tub, shower, vanity), the medicine cabinets & the lights above the vanities. Perhaps some people would want a “turnkey” update & I’m sure that Rob would accommodate that request if that’s how you wanted to do the effort (I never asked), but for me I really enjoyed being able to choose what I wanted rather than have some contractor chose those items. If it doesn’t look right I can only blame myself – which is fine with me. I spent $2,900 to purchase the faucet sets, vanities, granite tops, medicine cabinets, towel bars, light fixtures for the bathrooms. Now to the rest of the job: Bottom Line Remodeling gave me the option of selecting tile from 2 or 3 places ”I really loved the tile we selected by the way” , provided a high end toilets, bathtub, & tempered glass shower for the one bathroom. All the work was done extremely well IMO… Rob in the process resolved the 40+ year old problem that I had in the shower – the original plumber/ contractor had not properly set the base – that is now completely resolved. The effort took roughly 2 weeks to complete (for some maybe this it too long) for me I’d rather it done right than done fast… each day tarps were put down plastic covers placed over furniture to minimize dust, residue from the demo & re-construction. The tile work, drywall, installation of the built in medicine cabinets, vanities, granite tops & plumbing were top notch IMO. I also use well water & have a water conditioner on the system, but you never know when you’ll have a pin hole crop up, Bottom Line remodeling replaced the copper lines in the wall with CPVC pipe (one less potential problem) down the road. The finished job looks great total cost for the two bathrooms being $8,500/each + $2,900 for the items I purchased & listed above for a grand total of $19,900 I am extremely happy with the new bathrooms & if I ever chose to move, the bathroom s will certainly add to the appeal of the house.. I would certainly use Bottom Line Remodeling again without question.

ADavid Rutch's Precision Remodeling Inc
The Precision team was phenomenal from start to finish for a major remodeling of my 100+ year old row home. Dave's estimate was accurate and priced better than anyone else. His crew and sub-contractors were on time every day for the length of the project, kept the expected mess to a minimum while I lived through the renovation and were extremely easy to work with. Dave was in contact on an almost daily basis with updates and solutions when the project hit the inevitable snags. The finished project is exactly what I was hoping for and looks perfect. I will definitely use Precision again for any future projects and recommend them without hesitation.

BAROCON Roofing & Construction
The quality of the work was excellent. Timeliness of the job was bad. Original contract stated that the job should take 5 to 8 weeks. Started the second week of March finished 21 weeks later. Also had difficulty getting in touch with the company sometimes as many as 4 calls required to get a call back. Towards the end of the project they had someone call me everyday to check on progress. Also the company advertised in your booklet that they offer a 10% discount for Angies list customers. After I was given the price I showed them their coupon . I was told they already had calculated the discount into the price. I guess my question would be " How did they know I was as Angie's list member?" and if so why should I pay the fee for Angie's list if the coupon they placed in your booklet was already figured into the price.
