Reviews in Cumberland for Installing Outdoor Lighting
AMARYLAND ELECTRIC SVC CO INC
It was old but he repaired it by replacing the two bulb sockets. I had wanted it repaired as I wanted it repaired so I could keep using 100W bulbs. New lights won't let you use 100 watt bulbs so I wanted it repaired. He took it to his shop for repairs and brought it back promptly the next day. He billing is by mail so I have not received a bill yet

Report based on two experiences with the company. First was to install GFCI breakers. The work was done efficiently, quickly and at a fair price. Second was to check on flickering lights and to repair one lamp base in basement. Two workmen came and tightened all connections in breaker boxes and service drop. Repaired lamp base. They were professional, timely, and worked at a quick pace. Tightening connections appears to have fixed the flickering lights problem.

He is very laid back, easy, and kind; but he seems to be knowledgeable. I know he is an electrician. He can do other kinds of stuff too. I wanted to call him again in November; but I got sick, so I couldn't call him. I am going to call him again.

I think they are expensive, but they have high quality. I think the service call amount is to expensive.

Did not label any circuit in brand new panels left poor patch jobs in dry wall/plaster they cut out - left holes in some areas all together moved wall outlet formerly at floor level to location that had been a light switch - did not replace light switch in another location placed multiple outlets on a single switch (these outlets were not even on same floor) did not remove knob and tube - just cut off in most areas did not run new service to exisitng in all places - many shortcuts taken with placement of new service in less than ideal locations - example a wall switch for one room was moved to dead center of the room (very inconveinent when you are trying to turn a light on in the dark) If you use this group - I highly recommend someone being onsite supervising at ALL times - response to concerns, it would cost an additional amount to address.

Failed to mark breakers in panel boxes, placed outlets where light switches had previously been located, left holes in dry wall - ceiling. Circuits for 1st and 2nd floor were to remain separate, however that did not happen. Owner walked thru and sent employees back to fix the majority of the items - however, the separately metered service for 1 and 2nd floors has not yet been corrected. Recommendation if using - be onsite for the entire job

The electricians were prompt, professional and friendly. They ran into some difficulty in running wiring between floors in my older home but did not let the problem interfere with their professional attitude ( didn't have to sent the kids outside- iykwim )and did not charge extra for the extra time spent. The owner/manager of the company, Betsy Delozier, was on scene to help and to make sure the job was on track. The electricians reviewed the work with me when they were done. Price seemed reasonable for what turned out to be a 4 hour job. Was charged exactly as estimated.

I've hired Maryland Electric several times over the past several years. We have an old home, this will be 100 years since it's construction. Maryland Electric has worked in our home on at least six different jobs. I would highly recommend them. Each time we hired them they walked through our home with us. Talked to use about our needs, and worked up estimates and options based upon our desires. We had all the electrical outlets in the house rewired in phases. Basement and first floor. Then the second floor. Finally the third floor. We told them up front that we were planning on doing a complete outlet rewire job, but in phases. They were able to accommodate us nicely. They, also did fantastic work, and didn't damage any of the historical features that we absolutely wanted to keep intact. We've also had them replace the main service line & breaker boxes. They removed old fuse boxes, and replaced old light fixtures. Doesn't seem to matter how big (new construction) or small (a simple light fixture) they are fantastic Electricians and willing to help. They are the only Electricians that I will use from now on. They called to let us know they were on the way. They set expectations for us, and delivered on those expectations.
