Recent Review: T (that is the name he goes by) was great to deal with. He was very pleasant and easy to talk to. His estimate was about $2000 less than a competitor. I had to reach out to him a second time which is the only reason why I rated him a 4 on the responsiveness question. An added bonus was T helped pick up my dad when he fell in the house on the installation day. He was also very patient with all my dad's questions prior to the work being started. I highly recommend this company.

Recent Review: We had an unusual project where we removed half walls and replaced with white horizontal railings across the floor and down the stairs. We contacted several vendors with no reply and then we found Capital Iron. They helped complete our vision, solve problems of sloping floors, old house issues. They were unbelievably conscientious in making sure the project was done right and to our satisfaction. Their workers are professional and their service is excellent as well as the final product. We couldn't be more pleased. Rated the price good instead of excellent because iron work is expensive so it's hard to feel great about that aspect!

Recent Review: UPDATE - May 2012 - We were contacted shortly after the below posting by a Senior Customer Service Director, apologizing for the misstep on the part of the company. He asked if he could come out and meet with us again to discuss what happened. We agreed and must say that Loudoun Stairs has now gone above and beyond to fix our initial experience. Steve Clewis is GREAT and understood our frustration. He worked with us on a solution for installing our stairs. The installer, William Johnson, was AMAZING does incredible work - top notch quality, professional and efficient. Although we had a rocky start with Loudoun Stairs, in the end they rectified the error and we WILL definitely use them again. THANK YOU to all at Loudoun Stairs that in the end made our experience a GREAT one. ********************** March 2012 - Initially ok. We called to request an appointment for someone to come and review our needs. The gentlemen showed up as scheduled, reviewed our requirements and proceeded to tell us that they don't install. What??? A stair company that only builds the stairs and delivers them to your door but won't install - doesn't make sense to me. A week later they provided a verbal quote over phone but NEVER sent to us in writing. We called REPEATEDLY and always only got voicemail and NEVER a return phone call. We then decided maybe we could find our own contractor to install - that proved to be a bit of a challenge, so we called back, finally someone answered the phone and said they could install and they would revise our quote and get it over to us. NEVER got the quote in writing for just the stairs or stairs and install, no return phone call, nothing. We again called repeatedly to find out where our quote was and nobody ever got back to us. Not sure what is going on at Loudoun Stairs but here is my recommendation - if the job is too small, not worth your time or you don't want to work direct with homeowners - then just say so!! We will NEVER use Loudoun Stairs. Customers service and responsiveness are TERRIBLE!!!!

Recent Review: I initially contacted Hooshang with the intention of repairing a badly constructed, straight run of stairs leading down to the basement in our 1950's house. He returned my message promptly and scheduled a time to come out and see the staircase. After looking at the staircase, he advised me that it would be better to replace it entirely, since retrofitting it with the missing skirt boards was going to be problematic, and in his opinion we wouldn't be happy with the results. He strongly encouraged us to consider a new staircase, since it would solve the problem of the missing skirt boards, and be much better constructed with no squeaks. He gave me a verbal estimate for replacing the staircase, since I wasn't ready at that point to make a decision. Well over 2 months past, and I had a hard time finding stair specialists who were interested in either a repair or replacement job in my area. Most had elaborate web sites showcasing very fancy work, whereas we just needed straightforward quality work. I called H.R. Stairs and Rails again, and Hooshang came back out to the house, took measurements and provided me a written quote for replacing the existing stairs with red oak stairs using pine stringers and skirtboards, as well as installation. Over the next two weeks, H.R. Stairs and Rails built the staircase offsite, and arrived on time to install on Saturday morning. I was especially impressed that they kept the appointment to install even though it was snowing, and 6 inches or more were forecast for the day. Hooshang and his crew of 3 helpers were courteous and quickly got the staircase inside and started installation. In an hour they had the staircase installed, had cleaned up, and were ready to go. The stairs look great, don't make a sound, and we couldn't be happier with them. We're even considering having them do the stairs to our upstairs level as well. Hooshang was very professional, very courteous, and I'd absolutely recommend him and his company to anyone who needs stair work.

ALAWRENCE BROTHERS HOME IMPROVEMENTS
Fabulous. Very professional, took pride in his work, competitive pricing, personable, cleaned up after himself. Excellent results. He pointed out the improperly supported staircase (which had been strangely slanted since we bought the place) and offered to fix it at a minimal cost. Once he got started, after a long part ordering delay that was not his fault, everything was finished in about 4 days.

We set an appointment over the phone for him to come out at 2 PM the next day.  At 3 PM, I called him and he said he couldn't come until 6 PM.  I said that was fine, however he never showed or contacted me thereafter.

APerry Railworks Inc
I was very impressed with their quote and professionalism and would recommend them as far as they went. They had a focus on quality and new what they were doing and were very easy to work with. I ultimately did not go with them as I got a very good proposal from another company that was closer and just a little better. It was a tough choice and I would have been happy going with Perry Railworks had I not gotten the other quote.

ATop Dog Professional Handyman Svcs
Top Dog came the same day we called with an emergency of sorts.  While carpeting an upstairs room, we discovered that the staircase underneath was structurally deficient.  Before we could continue with carpeting, we needed to repair the stairs.  Zurich had to cut through an adjoining wall and closet to access the underpinnings of the stairs, which had been poorly constructed when our house was built in 1987. The underlying structure is now stronger than ever - no squeaks, no sagging.

DJW Home Improvement
I purchsed 3 hours of handyman time for $149.00 to beginning with and made it clear I wanted my outside metal stair railing painted. I then set a date when the work would take place and on the morning of the start date JR was a no-show.  i called to see what was up and they had no record of my appointment.  i was told they let a woman go recently and that was the problem.  I rescheduled and the worker showed up early for the job.  i had also purchased an extra hours work at their so-called discount rate of $75/hour. The JR worker showed up with a sanding machine but with no sanding paper, making it clear to me that i was responsible for materials.  He said he needed sanding paper for the machine and so the first 30-40 minutes of my purchased time was spent by the JR worker going to a nearby home depot and picking up the materials he needed, the cost of which was deducted from my time.  I was told that the sanding materials would be about $20.00.  I later found out that the bill for the materials came out to be $50.00 instead.  Unbeknownst to me at the time, the worker had picked up some additional materials.    The job could not apparently be finished given the 4 hours I had purchased.  They stated they needed another 2 hours to finish the job.  To be fair, the work that was done seems first rate. That night I inquired into the $50 worth of materials (as opposed to $20) needed when the worker said all he needed was sanding materials.  They said he decided he needed more things when he got there, including a brush for $6.00 which JR later stated should not have been charged to me.  That said, JR never reimbursed me for this $6.00 and was never provided with leftover materials which I purchased and/or provided up front.  I asked what had happened with the extra sanding materials my money went to purchase and the full can of sealer I provided at the outset.  Apparently JR feels as though it has a right to any so-called unused materials, even when the purchaser purchases them. Nonetheless, I had planned to have the worker come back and put another hour but it did not work out, but after discussing the whereabouts of my leftover materials and the way this transaction was handled, I decided to cancel and further work by JR. I had to ask for a receipt for the materials since none was offered to me in the first place.  I also asked And I later complained about the manner in which this transaction went down.  Specifically, I was well aware of the fact that the purchaser of the deal was responsible for materials needed/used.  So why wouldn't JR come to the job site with materials in hand ready to go, and charge the purchaser later for materials used?  I guess that would be too professional and would not result in the first 40 minutes being allocated for an expensive trip to home depot.  This is an absurd way to do business but a great way to amp up the job cost and get free materials in the process.  At this juncture as I recall, the owner (I guess) informed me that I had a great deal and that their normal rate was in the vicinity of $265.00/hour.  My reaction was, I'm sure people are flocking to do business with these folks at lawyer like rates. That's my experience with JR.

ASolution Painting Inc
From start to finish, our experience with Solution Painting has been exceptional. As the above description suggests, we did a substantial amount of work. Mario completed the estimate quickly and the final cost was exactly as agreed. The work was scheduled about three weeks after receiving the estimate. Mario described his expectation and commitment that every job will be completed to the highest standard and every customer will be completely satisfied. He certainly hit the mark with our job. Alfredo and his large crew arrived exactly as agreed when scheduling the job. They worked cleanly, efficiently and tirelessly for two almost 12-hour days. They protected our landscaping and hardscape in every work area. They did a substantial amount of sanding and caulking, making sure all the prep-work was completed before the painting and staining began. They kept the work areas clean throughout the job and completely cleaned up after the work was finished. They even vacuumed all the walk and patio areas. And while caulking the windows and doors, they also washed the exterior glass and screens, and that alone amounted to 60 doors and windows. The finished product looks outstanding. It is exactly what we expected from Solution and we are completely satisfied. We would very highly recommend Solution for any painting need and we certainly will use them again for any painting needs, exterior and interior.

They did a beautiful job with the staircase and provided excellent carpentry work. The name of the business does not include everything they can offer and provide. He was the general contractor a home being built in the neighborhood.

Overall, from phone call to work completion, the job went very well. Mr. Lopez replaced broken steps leading to the recreation room in my mother's home. He also installed railings on both sides of the recreation room's staircase for her convenience in using the stairs.

APerry Railworks Inc
We have not found companies that perform their exact services who have their level of knowledge and expertise. A lot of people will claim to do stair work, but Perry truly specializes in it and does a great job. They are responsive, efficient, trustworthy and the end result of their work has always been a quality outcome. They are a bit pricey, but not unreasonable. Would recommend them highly to anyone in the market for some work on stairways, indoor or out.
